What do you think?
Want to see capitalism at its worst?
Are the powers that be behind the DVD release now in a rush to get Three's Company out to the public as soon as possible to take advantage of the publicity of John's death?
I know it was scheduled for an early 2004 release, but I would bet now that they are scrambling to get this thing out right away.
It's an appalling thought, but I guarantee you right now at Anchor Bay there is a discussion going on about it.
Thoughts?

No, I don't care either.
I was just wondering whether people would agree that there is that element of our society that rushes to capatilize on the misfortunes of others?

I just hope they stick to the original release plan. It would be horrible for them to make money off of John's untimely passing.

This happens all of the time. TV Land and Nick will run marathons to score a large audience while business is brisk on ebay for autographs and collectables. We've seen this with the Beatles and more recently with Bob Hope. There is always a crush of people who want a piece of a celebrity who passes on. Can't explain it.

I will buy it the first day it's out. If it comes sooner, I'll buy it sooner. I want to be able to see and own these episodes and watch the amazing physical comedy of John Ritter as soon as I possibly can. I'll view an expediated DVD release no differently than the two special programming blocks on TV Land and Nick at Nite coming early next week.
Sure, they're going to make money off it. But they're going to make a lot of fans happy by providing them something to get through it all with and something to remember him by.

Sure, but people have been BEGGING them to release these dvds for years, so I will find it a little out of the ordinary if they are released before Christmas time.
If Three's Company were not on TV at all right now when this happened, you'd be a little angered at them for showing it all of a sudden, exploiting John's death.
Happy to see the episodes, but still peeved a little.

I have no problem with their plans to come out with all the DVD's. In fact, I plan to get all they have. But it does seem that when anyone dies, then in less than 24 hours they're trying to sell stuff. In this case, since it was already planned, I don't think it's that bad an idea to move up the release date. But in many other situations with other people, hardly any respect is shown and it's like these people see dollar signs at the first mention of someone dying.
