I had to start this thread. What are your comments about the styles that were sported on the show?
I think Maria was the most fashionable of the group. She almost always had a unique sense of style. The only outfits she wore that I think weren't her, however, were the long dresses with a giant hat with a bow (like on "We Love You, Mrs. Russell"). She looked really cute on "Psyched Out at Fillmore" (during the scene where Dennis hacked the computer to find out their results), with her curly hair kinda set up with a bang on it. I also loved how she wore her scarf kinda "tangled" in her hair on "The Big Squeeze." (I tried to get that look for the play I'm currently in...but unfortunately, it didn't happen!)
I cannot stand Darlene's clothes. The only outfit she wore that I liked was when she had on a tan blazer, black turtleneck, and jeans. That was cute. All of her other clothes are stuffy...and she had the nerve to dis Simone's style on "The Write Stuff"! The nerve! Speaking of Simone's style...I thought the idea of her style was that she wanted to "hide" in her clothes. A lot of her clothes had an earthy sense about them. And even when Simone wore something "un-Simone" (that being overalls on "Psyched Out at Fillmore"), I thought it was cute. From the season 5 ep I saw, it looked like Simone had lost her individual, quirky sense of style.
I hated Jawaharlal's hair in the pilot episode. It was so stereotypically geeky. I loved it on "Critical Choices" and episodes like "The Russians Are Coming!" and "Video Activity." I thought his clothes were so cute during season 1...but the bulky sweaters they had him wear season 2 did nothing for him. From the few season 3 episodes I've seen, it looked like they tried to change his style from "school boy geek" to "cool boy," for he was wearing leather lace-up shoes and blue jeans.
