It's a direct copy of BBC's show. The BBC show is obviously influenced by FRIENDS in its formula, but is creative and funny on its own. The NBC re-creation of Coupling just doesn't work. They tried stealing another succesful British show a few years ago which also flopped. Anyone remember Cold Feet? It frustrates me when American TV directly take shows and try to use them- plots and all. Instead of borrowing a few ideas or jokes or maybe re-working a show (e g Sanford and Son) The whole thing strikes me as just being lazy. I hope they don't try it with The Office. |
