We all really need to sit back and go into detail about Viv and Bill. I mean, this is just ridiculous. This is the I LOVE LUCY message board family! SO it's only right that Viv and Bill have people snooping into their historic business also. LETS START!

Neither Vivian Vance or William Frawely had children. Viv was married four times, and Bill was married once, which ended in divorce. He never married again and his opinion of women was hardened after that, so I've read.

They never had any children?? Thats sad, and thats also scary. How is that even possible? They both lived full lives and never had any children. That is really scary for some reason.

I dun't get it, what's so scary about not wanting kids. I went to the mall today and this little brat was screaming his bloody head off and i was kinda happy i never had one. I've been a big brother for years and when you get fed up, you send them home, LOL!

I guess you're right. I don't know, it's just that one would naturally think that they had kids, at least to carry on the tradition. I mean, here you have Lucie and Desi Jr. representing their parents on a personal level, a level that you never got to see of Viv and Bill. It's like they're not even importan anymore, you know? Thats what I mean by scary. Haunting.

No what's HAUNTING ME right now is the thought of a little Freddie in the world! LOL! Probably it would be the only child to get slapped by the doctor at his birth and hit him back!

They say we would feel really differently about our parents if we had seen them younger, and not the pains they turned out to be raising us, it would be something to go back in time and see them fun loving and full of life when they were very young.

I can tell you as an adult I see my parents totally different.

Its just sad that neither one of them left anyone to carry on the genes, I guess..Cant really put it in words, but I know when I leave this world there will be a little part of me living on in my children...I would like to hear any trivia about bot of them.....

How come Tom is the only person in here that understands where I'm coming from?? I'm not saying that children is for everyone, that never came out of my fingers. I'm just saying that I wish that there was someone close to Viv and Bill genetically to carry on the legacy, just like Lucie and Desi Jr. I also believe that children is not for everyone, but as their fan, I personally wish they had children, thats all I was trying to say...Geez.

No prob Lodee, and thanks Mick. I don't mean to sound crazy or anything like that, it's just that everytime I see Lucie and Desi, I think of how Vance and Frawley are being short-handed by not having anyone represent them, or carry on their legacy.

But they do, anyone connected to Lucy and Desi does, especially THEM!

Yeah I know, but you can feel Desi and Lucy living through Lucie and Desi IV. With Vance and Frawley, all we have are memories and mainly ILL.

As much as I've enjoyed their performances all my life ,appreciated their talents and like them as people, between his alcoholism and her depression, I don't think EITHER of them would have made ideal parents. Their filmed performances are the best legacies possible IMO!

Very true, a cranky alcoholic boy obsessed with baseball, or a many times married depressed girl, THEY WERE BETTER OFF NOT REPRODUCING! And the world still remembers them anyway, and always will.

Then again maybe having children would have changed their lives for the better. But with her four marriages and his driknking maybe they felt best not to have childreen. Then maybe it just wasn't in the cards.

Well, Desi and Lucy had problems of their own also, and they were the kind of problems that could affect any kid being born into that situation, so the same goes for Viv and Bill. Alcohol, obsession, both Lucy and Desi posessed those not so good qualities also.

And look at some of the very difficult situations their children have lived through, children of celebrities have an uphill battle to begin with.

Well, there was good and bad. Desi jr got hooked on drugs and drink, Lucie has issues with her mom. But they are left with careers in show business that she started them on, and money for the rest of their lives, and they manage the estate of two of the most celebrated entertainers of all time, they are still in the limelight as the offspring of two giants and can still work in the business, if they so choose, they have the recognition and the means to just do what they like, they might not have had perfect childhoods, but they seem to have turned out very well in spite of it all!

True. See? Vivian and Bill could have done the same for their children, although I'm sure they had no where near as much money, but it still could've worked out.

The key difference between the Arnazes and the actors playing the Mertzes is that the Arnazes wanted to have children but I've never seen the slightest evidence that either Viv or Bill did! I know towards the end of their lives they occasionally acted like surrogate parents towards others (Viv with Lucie Arnaz and Bill with his 'My Three Sons' 'grandsons') but that's not the same actually wanting to have taken on parenting full-time!

Yes, good point PracTz. There's several little kids I look after from time to time, and they're fun to have around for a day or so - but no way do I want any full time! :)

None, being a BIG brother all those years was more than enough, but i love kids, they say things as they really are, no bull about them. Which is terrible when you ARE a kid, but great when you're an adult. The way they torture each other in school is unbelievable.

I can see why they didn't want to have children now Lodee. I understand completely. I guess it was just me being selfish about wanting them to have children for them to live through.
