Okay, I know this guy. His name is......uh, Tim.
Tim just discovered that the washing machines in his apartment building, which are often vandalized and take for freaking ever to get repaired not to mention that one of the dryers hasn't worked in months....

Anyway Tim discovered that by simply opening a broken panel and flicking a switch, viola! The machines can be used without paying.

Now, what should Tim do?

Should he enjoy the benefits of free laundry until the pinheads who run the building discover the problem and fix them?

Should he go door to door telling his neighbors (especially the cute ones who might be impressed and a little attracted to a theiving bad boy) that laundry is now free?
Or...
Should he report the problem like a good boy.

Tim wuld greatly appreciate your input.

Now if you'll excuse me, Tim has an entire winter wardrobe to wash.

Dude... dont tell them! If they are that lazy to take care of it the moment it breaks.. then screw them. And no! Dont tell anyone.. its your little secret! If you go around blabbing it, then they will find out about it sooner or later and fix it, or worst comes to worst, make you or whoever else.. pay up for the lost money.

I think 'Tim' shouldn't say anything and just do free laundry- if the people responsible for repairing the machines don't live up to the commitment- then I suppose they deserve to get robbed of a little cash.

I think you should tell, because it can come back to bite you in the butt in the long run. things like this always get found out about, and it could cause your lanlord to boot you out of the building, he could raise everyone's rent because of your "free laundry" That would be making everyone else pay for what you did.

Plus two wrongs don't make a right. Just because they take forever to fix, doesn't mean that you should steal. Is there a laundromat close by? What's the difference between going to a laundromat, and paying for the washers and dryers in your building?

You should get on your landlord about having them fixed, see if there's any way you can get him to get them fixed

I think Tim is an awesome name.

You make some good points.
I doubt I will get in trouble with the landlord, unless the super catches me opening the machine to turn it on (the machines have been broken into a few times, so I would be a prime suspect)

In my defense I did report that the machines were still not working to the super a few days before I discovered they could be used for free, and I'm sure other tenants have complained, so the machines will be fixed for real as soon as possible.

Yes, I know, it's still stealing. I'm Catholic, so I'm familiar with guilt.
