View Full Version : Episodes That Re-Used Plots, Scenes, etc.
Brian 09-05-2003, 10:18 PM A scene in episode 194 bears a striking resemblance to one in an early episode of Bewitched, I think it was "The Girl Reporter." Here's what happened. In "The Girl Reporter" episode, the titular character's jealous boyfriend threatens close Darrin's job. Darrin says, "You and who else?" The boyfriend attempts to punch him only to hit an invisible shield that Samantha surrounds Darrin with. After a second attempt, the girlfriend says she could slap Darrin and Darrin invites her to. She connects without any trouble. Skip ahead to "The Generation Zap." The same scene occurs except it is an upset father and he threatens to punch him.
They must have been running out of ideas by that time. They weren't being very original there.
LucyFan 09-07-2003, 09:31 PM I recall that the very last episode (#254) of this series was based on the #50th episode entitled, "Speak the Truth".
Novarro 09-07-2003, 09:57 PM Yes thats true. Certainly towards the end of the series the number of remakes of earlier episodes increased dramatically and the 8th season in particular contained numerous episodes that had been filmed back in the earlier years. The ideas were running dry after 8 years which really is a long time for most series to run.
DickYorkMan 10-09-2003, 05:23 PM There are 2 episodes one in the first season and one in the last season...both involve campaigns that Sam helps improve upon...Darrin thinks it's witchcraft...Sam gets mad and runs away...Darrin is proved wrong...Sam accidently gives Darrin the name of a new campaign...that all happens in BOTH of these similar episodes.
hawaii five-o 10-09-2003, 06:49 PM There are a couple of plotlines that get used way too often.
1. Darrin smarts off to Endora and she then freezes the scene and puts some kind of curse on him.
2. Sam loses her powers or her powers get screwed up because Darrin forbids her to use them.
jcmeto 10-12-2003, 10:28 AM We also noticed that the episodes with Ben Franklin and George Washington were strikingly similar. Especially the dialoge between the judges and Washington and Franklin which were identical almost word for word.
barwars 10-13-2003, 03:59 PM As much as I love Bewitched, I think it should have ended at Season 7.
This series didnt deserve to be rehashed.... by itself.
DickYorkMan 10-28-2003, 09:19 PM Yes, pretty much all of the 7th and 8th season episodes were rehashes of previous ones...
But we didn't see too much of that in season 6...so therefore, I think it should've ended at season 6.
P.S. They could've done something really cool for the season finale, like having the mortal characters find out the truth about Samantha ( no, not a dream) ...now that would've been cool.
barwars 10-28-2003, 09:21 PM Or have Samantha give up here powers in order to live in the mortal world.
Or maybe Darren becomes a warlock?!
GypsyEyes 11-08-2003, 02:12 AM I agree, Darrin should have become a warlock as the show finale
:)
DickYorkMan 11-12-2003, 08:31 PM Or they could've done a flashback on why Darrin changed (Dick Sargent).
Maybe it was the monicules situation that happened with Louise and Samantha, and Darrin's molicules got switched around with some other doofus permanently, therefore, now we have Dick Sargent...
Weird theory, I know.
barwars 11-12-2003, 08:39 PM I think Samantha should have made Darren a twin, and then have Dick Sargent play one, and Dick York play the other.
And then have Samantha have to choose between the two of them.
