TJL 09-04-2003, 07:53 PM I will believe it when I see it. This show has a lot of hype to live up to. Brian Damage 09-04-2003, 07:58 PM Originally posted by TJL I will believe it when I see it. When will we learn to trust our own judgment when it comes to choosing our own entertaiment? These critics, who've sold their opinions to the highest bidder, continue to influence viewing habits and public opinion for the corporate jackals that suck our lifeblood (and HARD-EARNED CASH!) for profit, to the detriement of the society at large. If there is indeed a lesson to be learned from the "Coupling" fiasco, it's that we must use OUR best judgement, not the network's, or the critic's, when choosing our entertainment. To quote rap group Public Enemy: "Don't belive the hype!!" TJL 11-25-2003, 01:01 PM The reviews I read about "Coupling" were all negative. The few positive reviews of the show were used in the promotional publicity after the show premiered, but by then it was too late. That happens all the time on TV and movies. Most critics are savaging the "Cat In The Hat Movie," but the few good reviews are plastered all over the print ads. The show didn't live up to the advanced hype. Sure, it became the most talked about new show of the season, but for the wrong reasons. It stunk, and it was a major bomb for NBC. |
