View Full Version : Who or what do you miss the most?

Is it a friend, teacher, an ex boyfriend or girlfriend, a pet, or someone who has passed away?
....or is it not a person but a time in your life....school, childhood, a place where you used to work?

What are you missing?

My great-uncle who died two years ago this October. Since he's gone that side of the family is really struggling. He was really the only person that could handel my grandmother and since he's gone she's just gotten worse and worse.

I also think about Michelle all the time. She was in one of my classes my sophomore year of highschool, and she and both of her parents were killed in a car crash on Easter Sunday. She was only fourteen years old. I didn't know her that well, but every big event in my life since then - going to prom, graduation, going to college, moving to Europe... I always think of her and how she never got the opportunity.

I miss being "normal", because depression takes over your life, and though after a while you get used to it, it's not fun at all... it just turns your life into an every-day struggle.

Boy, do I know how you feel :( I'm on medicine for that...but it really sucks, it ruins your life and nothing seems fun anymore.

Some stuff I miss is:
Both of my grandfather's who passed away when I was just a little toddler. I barely knew them, and it's so sad because they've missed so much. :(

Being a little kid...not so much my childhood, because it reminds me of when my parents used to live together and all of the fighting I had to listen to, but just being little again. So far, these first two days of highschool have shown me how much I miss it, and how much it sucks to grow up.

The old friendships I had. There's these girls who I've known since I was like 3, and they've just turned into such idiots. I miss the way thing used to be.

Also, my pen-pal I had in 5th grade...I remember she was so nice. She was from Washington. Our teachers knew each other so that's why we got penpals. But then, the next school year she just stopped writing.

And of course, my two hamsters, Butterball and Butterscauch:(

I'm sorry for everyone else's losses,too. :(

Oh yes.

My cousin Melanie, who passed away at 30 on September 12, 1999. The four-year anniversary of her death is coming up next Friday. :crying: She was my godmother and I was only 14 when she died. I miss her so much.

Although I don't really miss him anymore, my maternal grandpa passed away in January 1997 when I was only 11 and in 6th grade. I was pretty young when he died, so sadly to say, I don't miss him that much anymore because I was young, but I DO remember a lot of the stuff we did together.

Although I wasn't ACTUALLY friends with her, I do think about her a lot now. I had this really beautiful and smart girl that was in my grade and was in my English class our freshman year in HS (1999-2000). We were in the same grade and everything. The summer between our sophomore and junior years she did a very stupid thing (definitely qualifies for a Darwin Award) to accidentally kill herself..She died at the age of 16 on June 8, 2001..She would've been 18 going on 19 now (her birthday was November 12, 1984). Whenever I do something major in life, I stop to think about her. She only lived to be 16; she never got to graduate from HS and she will never get married because she died so young. Since she died the summer between our sophomore and junior years in HS, they didn't have a memorial page for her in my sophomore yearbook, but they did have one in my junior yearbook. It was so saddening. They did it again for my senior yearbook - I got mine last week and I got all choked up seeing "The Class of 2003 would like to remember Chelsey H. 1984 - 2001", which was right above her sophomore year picture. :crying:

Oh, and another one...This happened earlier the last school year and this is VERY tragic. This didn't happen to anyone in my class, but I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT stress how VERY IMPORTANT it is to ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS wear a seatbelt when I tell you guys the next story. I was a senior in HS, and this happened to two kids...one girl a grade behind me and a boy two grades behind me. To make a long story short, the boy had been drinking earlier that day (October 4, 2002, I believe that was the date), so although he wasn't drunk, he still had alcohol in his blood. He and the girl got into his pickup at night and he did 90 ON a gravel road, in a 45 zone. He attempted to turn a corner, the truck flipped over and ejected him through the windshield for 300 FEET because he was stupid enough to not wear his seatbelt. The girl had been using her head and had her seatbelt on. To make another EVEN longer story shorter, they found the boy and took him to the hospital, where he was in a coma for a week before he finally died on October 11, 2002. He was only 15 and a half years old and would be 16 and a half now.

Again, I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT stress how VERY IMPORTANT it is to ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS have your seatbelt on at ABSOLUTELY ALL TIMES. I have lost so many wonderful people this way to senseless car accidents in which they didn't wear their seat belts. Nobody should ever have to die so young.

I miss my childhood in my hometown. I had to leave that at the age of 7. Long story. :(

I miss 7th and 8th grades...Those two years were the BEST time of my life. I had the coolest teachers, I had the coolest friends, etc. Especially 8th grade....That was the BEST year of my life (so far). I really miss 8th grade, I would give anything to go back to that year. It was so much fun.

And most of all, I am REALLY going to miss my fave teacher when I move in less than two weeks. That would be my 8th grade Engllish teacher. We are EXTREMELY close and she is just the coolest teacher ever. She is such an awesome hugger too and I am REALLY going to miss her hugs when I move. I'd give anything for one of her hugs...They were the kind that made you feel all warm and fuzzy inside and, if you were feeling blue, cheered you up...Her hugs were definitely magical. Sigh...

Oh lordy, I dunno, I don't really MISS things. I haven't really had anything to miss.

But I'll come up with something...ummm...*thinks*

Oh, yea, I miss my dead goldfish Masquerade (sp?)...I got her when I was 5...my neighbors took care of her when I went to the beach...she died...my dad buried her under a tree. A least, he SAID he did...I don't know whether or not to believe him. My mom INSISTS he did, but as I'm getting older it's getting less and less likely in MY mind that he would go out in our backyard and bury a fish and more and more likely that he would flush her.

Or maybe Masquerade was a boy...hmmm....

And I guess I miss Cincinnatti too...I lived there till I was 4...but I'm not exactly crying over it. The only thing in Cincinnatti I REALLY miss is the rainbow that my neighbor painted on my wall...and when I first left I really missed my friend Megan...who I always thought was older then me but really was a year and 10 months younger. I dunno if we'd get along now or not...I haven't talked to her for a long time. I moved when I was 4 tho...I don't remember much else. Well...no...the mall had rides in it...and a BIG sand box...that was fun...hehe.

My grandmother, some of my pets, and anyone who I have thought a great deal about.

....or is it not a person but a time in your life....school, childhood, a place where you used to work? What are you missing?
Various parts of childhood life, the old Nick at Nite, Year 1997/1998, ect.

Now, here's another question that will tie in with the rest: What are you missing out in life?
Oh, gosh - a lot. The joys, happiness, and advantages of being a girl. Strong friendships that last forever. The excitement that life brings to a person. The positive side of a school experience (i.e. elementary, middle and/or high school, ect.) There's a lot more but these are the ones that come to mind the quickest.

Oh,boy. Sooo much. Let's see, real friendships. You know, the joy of having fun and hanging out with friends. I'm always home with nothing to do. Most people don't know how bad that sucks.

I missed out on getting to know both of my grandfathers. I wish they would have lived longer. :(

I missed out on a normal family. My family's never been normal. And, before when my mom and dad were still living together, there was constant yelling. I remember waking up at night and hearing it. It's not fun for a little kid to have to deal with. All the crying and telling them to stop. Scared the hell out of me.

But yeah, I'm pretty much complaing about almost the same stuff as I did in the last post...

A normal family, like someone else said. My family is just so broken apart. I don't feel the love, the caring, the security that you're supposed to feel in a family. I just don't feel it.

Luckily, I have someone who loves and cares about me very much, like a mother, but she's not always around (because obviously she doesn't live with me) so when I'm around her, I cherish those moments a lot.

What I'm missing out of life:
Being close to relatives. It's never been me and I guess sometimes I wish it was.
A Boyfriend. Not that single life is terrible, but I've never, ever found a guy that liked me for me whom I also liked. I swear I'll die an old maid.
A best friend that lives closer. I had best friends in elementary and junior high, but not since. And my best friend now lives far away.
An opportunity to prove myself. I swear no one takes me seriously or is willing to give me a chance. No wonder I have bouts of depression.

I was just talking about this, but I miss my cat Brittany so much. The day she died I paniced and begged god to let her spirit in my room and he did, because she is in there. I hate God for taking her away, the only thing that meant something to me in my life. I got extremly close to her in 2002 and she died in August of 2003. In 2002 I grew a love for her, she was my best friend. She died in August 2003, I found out she was dying in early July. She lived about one month after I found out. I did nothing but pray and hope and one day we just had to find her dead. I have her ashes in a box thing and everytime I see it I just want to end my life to be with her. She was the only one who ever loved me. I never had a real family, I never had real friends, I never had a real love. Everybody ended up hating me. And I don't know why. So she was my escape from all the pain in the world, she was the only one I could talk to. The vet told us to put her to sleep so she wouldn't suffer anymore and I feel so bad for telling them there was no way, I just really had hope that she would be better. I feel bad for knowing she had to suffer because I wanted her in my life, but I just really believed things would be better for her.

I miss my other animals too, but hers was and still is the most painful.

There's also been family members who have died but I really don't care. They could all die, actually, for all I care.

I miss my cat, Party Animal (yes, that was her real name, because she and the other cats would have these little get-togethers at night when I was trying to sleep  )She pissed me off, and at night when I was laying down she would sit on my head and if I tried to get up, she would bite me. She was constantly tripping me on purpose I swear and she made a point of sitting on anything and everything that I left on the floor, except for the floor itself. But I miss that crazy cat. She was pretty cool.

I also miss my lizard, Les. I talked to him a lot and my friends used to write letters for me to read to him, but he kicked the bucket. He lived a good life though. He was always entertained.

I know how you feel. I think I've been mildy depressed since I was a senior in high school and before, but I seem more depressed and irritable than usual lately. My 2nd year of college isn't helping much either. It seems like I view things more like things I must get/suffer through than things that I enjoy.

Exactly. I think I started getting a case of it sometime my senior year in high school...and I'm pretty sure it's gotten worse, esp. since I made a major move back in September...THEN I started college in January. Eek.

I miss a lot of things.

I miss my dog who died a few years ago.

I miss the '80s. The hairstyles, the clothes, the music, the films, the shows, everything.

I miss the Beatles. They are, and always will be, my favorite band.

I miss basically everything from the '60s, '70s and '80s. I swear, if I had a time machine I would spend the rest of my life in those three decades. I miss those decades that much. Ever since I was about the age of six I wanted to live at some point in the past and not the decade I was and am currently living in. Sometimes I still feel out of place. It makes it very hard to live.
