Just curious:

I've been reading a lot of posts on this board, but I haven't seen much pertaining to country music. Are there any fans here?

I don't know about you guys, but I LOVE country music!!! As my profile reads, I'm a HUGE Faith Hill fan!!! :notworthy

Anyway, if there are any country guys or gals hanging around here, give me a holler. I need people to "country-chat" with! :winkgrin

Yup, I love country music. It's pretty much my life. As you can probably see, my favorite singer and person is Martina McBride. :D I also love Shania Twain, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, The Dixie Chicks, and tons more. The country artists i've seen live are Martina and Phil Vassar. I want to be a country songwriter or record producer when I get older hopefully. :)

The kind of "country" music you're talking about, I hate with a passion, because what is termed "Country" today is little more than warmed over pop music without a fiddle or steel guitar in sigth.

However, if ya mean real Country music... Hank Sr., Hank III, Johnny Cash, Roy Acuff, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, anything made between 1927 and 1990... then yeah, let's talk. :D

Not really. I listen to country about 1/8% of the time. I'm not too keen to today's country, but when I was a kid, I listened to George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Statler Brothers, Oak Ridge Boys, Floyd Cramer, Loretta Lynn, Dolly, etc. BTW, Dolly's version of "I Will Always Love You" is the only true version of that song. Whitney who??

Ok, there is still A LOT of country music today that is nowhere near pop.

True. There's Hank III. There's Wayne Hancock. There's Brooks and Dunn.

...but otherwise, if it's played on the radio, it ain't country. It's "pop country", and to quote a Hank III song... Pop Country really sucks.

You know, Obsolete Man, you sound a lot like somebody who posts on Faith Hill's CMT message board! You're not, by any chance, whiskeyprayre, are you??? If you're not, that might sound a little bizarre. Just a user name.

I only mentioned Faith Hill as a country artist because I didn't know if there were any country fans on here. Most non-fans think of Faith as a country singer, but, in all honesty, I think she's gone COMPLETELY pop!!! BUT WHO CARES???? I still love her and her music.

I'm into a lot of the more twangy country of today, too. It's just that Faith's my favorite. :D

Anyway, I'm glad there are some country bumpkins posting here! Talk to you guys soon.

That is completely stupid. I suppose Reba is pop as well! Even though Martina is not all country, she certainly has a lot of country left in her. And according to your "fiddle and steel guitar" comment, she has them! As she says at every concert, she's very picky about her steel guitar players!

Country's cool. My dad's a country fan. I like it. It's not my favorite. But I like it. I prolly wouldn't go out and buy a country cd either, but it's good. Just the other day I burnt my dad's Brad Paisley cd. That's good. I'm a big Brad Paisley fan. Haha. No, but I do like country, I like pretty much every type of music.

I don't really care for any type of country, but my cousins and my Aunt and Uncle like it.
