How awful that TV Land is putting the series on hiatus. It deserves to continue to shine as it always has, & it is just very unfair. Luckily i've got most of the episodes & can watch as often as i wish, but what a void the program's absence will leave :(. I'd spotted one of the posts here where it was stated that Barney Miller will soon get a DVD Release. I'll be first in line, i can tell you!! TV Land should get rid of MacGyver & repetitive Happy Days reruns, & give Barney a time slot somewhere on their schedule. Afterall, it is a 24 hour channel, so cut back the airtimes of Happy Days, & though i respect & adore Andy Griffith & Dick Van Dyke, there should be a limit on how many times those shows are broadcast in a single day. Nice to see that others feel as i do, & love Barney Miller, too! :-)

If they have time to show Mr Ed like 3 times a day then they can find time to show at least 1 episode of Barney Miller. I want Barney Miller back.

I agree. Or give it one of the Bewitched/I dream of Jeannie slots. I mean..they play the same episode TWICE IN ONE DAY.

We need a petition or something.

Or...I at least need the eps I missed. If only they had let it run until the end...I'd still be sad it had been cancelled, but I'd at least have it all taped (sans the eps they didn't air, of course)

I wish I could find someone to trade with XP Any takers?

Barney ran it's course on TV Land starting in 2000..it will be back on TV Land soon..I just have this feeing it will be back, probably next January..keep your fingers cross..and hopefully this time they will broadcast all the episodes that TV land skipped i.e. like the Landmark Eps and Fire of 77, Moonlighting, HASH, etc.Thank goodness I was lucky enough to tape most of the episodes, except for the ones TV LAnd skipped:mad: I miss seeing one of my favorite shows on the TV Land line-up and I am not too please that this classic was replaced by Mr.Ed of all shows, actually TV Land is not showing a lot of good programs anymore like the Mary Tyler Moore Show and Bob Newhart, oh well, but keep the faith..I have a strong feeling that the boys from the 12th will be back very soon:wave:

I can't believe they did that and Mr. Ed isn't that good of a show.

Quite a while ago I had written to TV land (or was it NIck?)asking them to put Barney Miller back on the air. Obviously it didn't help. :-)

is there a way we can get it on the air? I'm so sick of LUcy, Beaver, Mr. Ed, ... I keep thinking that since it was on before they must own the rights to the show.. so why not use them? I'm not sure if that is how it works though.

I also wish they would put Alf on the air. I liked that show too.

Barney Miller is indeed a classic show. It was love at first viewing for me because the show's dry, sarcastic humor is right up my alley. When I was a kid growing up in the mid-late 1980s, I remember our local ABC station showed reruns of Barney Miller every summer on Saturday evenings between the local news and Wheel of Fortune. It's a shame no one seems to be airing it these days, but at least we have 2 of the seasons on DVD now.

I think this is a terrific show and I keep voting for it over at the TVLand Switchboard -- scroll to the bottom of the page and write in a vote for Barney Miller.

Does anyone know how well Season 2 has been selling (I did my share and bought it :))? That might get Sony to release Season 3 sooner than 4 YEARS from now!!!

Barney Miller has to be one of the best sitcoms of all time. The humor was so sharp and the cast so talented and varied. It had some of the most funny, and colorful characters. Viewers really got into each of the unique and quirky characters, not only of the detectives at the precinct, but also those who were put in the "cage"; they were hilarious.

OH Nuts!

Indeed. and that's just only the beginning...it's amazing how easy it is to wax poetic abt this SUPERB show!

It is...the only bad thing is that Gregory Sierra/Chano is only on the first 2 seasons. I would've loved to see Chano grow and develop as a character throughout the entire run. Oh well.
