Im not sure what I want to do with my life. Right now Ive just been trying to find a job. I might go to cosmotology school, but I havent really made up my mind.
realchic1999 09-04-2003, 01:21 PM I graduated from HS four years ago...and got my BA 4 months ago.
No, HS is nothing like HOTC...I was glad to get out!
The college I went to isn't all that great, but the experience was better.

awwwww:( Im glad you had a good experience then.
realchic1999 09-04-2003, 03:39 PM I didn't say it was "good"...but it was "better."
Buffalo State College is, in my opinion, an extension of high school. And being that Buffalo is such a small city (I should've tried to use college as my way out), one is pretty much stuck around the same "types" of people (valley girls, dumb jocks, "pigeons," thugs, etc.). I expected college to be a world of intelligent people with intelligent minds...but boy, I was wrong. (At least about BSC.)
College was better because in between the stupidity, it had its moments. There were many cultural events on campus, corny game shows, and free films. (Let's not forget free food at almost every event!) I also learned to assert myself in college...to walk taller, and not give a crap about what people thought of me. The same tackheaded fools I had to deal with in HS don't stand a chance against me, now. I at least thank higher learning for that.
I wish there were a real IHP...being that I was "different" because I didn't act "stereotypically black." It would've been "an escape" from "Ghettoville, USA." I went to an honors school from 5-12, but they pretty much took everyone off the streets to fit quotas (it was a magnet school where one had to take a test, but regardless of test scores, racial quotas had to be filled---and there was a HUGE lawsuit about that), in my opinion. Out of the 100-something in my graduating class, a select few were extremely gifted and talented students.

I really enjoyed learning more about you, and your life. I always thought the people in hight school would act more grown up, but thats not that case. I think some peoples college life is better then others. You ask one person and they say "Its the best time in your life" ask other and they will say "Oh man, it wasnt what I thought" I like hearing what others say about their time in college
realchic1999 09-05-2003, 03:13 PM Thank you.
I thought high school was going to be "so cool," too, from being a young kid watching shows like "HOTC," and due to the fact that my aunt (who's 8 years older than myself) was in high school around that time, and she was into MTV (the good stuff, not that fluff they show now) and was another "different black chick," like myself.
The older I get, the worse people younger than me get. Parents don't seem to be raising their kids anymore...and I see too many "thugs," "playas," and "Britney Spears" wannabes parading around...barely 12 years old! It is so sad. I sometimes worry about who our future leaders will be (for instance, on "Blind Date," they coupled up these two drunken idiots who were going to be lawyers...good Lord!). However, when I do see the few good between the cracks, I do start to think more positive.

Kids now want to grow up way to fast and its sad. They are having sex at 12, 13 years old, doing drugs dressing way to sexyand all because of their peers. Id never something because others were doing it. I like being different from others.
realchic1999 09-05-2003, 03:32 PM I like being different from others.
Amen to that!:clap
warsaw dreams 09-07-2003, 10:17 AM When I was in high school (from 93-96) I had a friend who was like a female version of Dennis! She was kinda big like him and always goofing around and getting into trouble, but I loved to hang out with her. Then one day her mom pulled her out of our school and put her into a public one (we went to a private h.s.) because she was making too much trouble! I was so sad but I still saw her on the weekends. I've lost touch with her now but maybe this is why I have such a big attachment to Dennis!(by the way, I've never told this to anybody!)

awwww :( but she sounds fun!
I just saw a old friend of mine from when I was in a private school . We lost touch also, when I left. Then the other day I saw her coming out of a store and we hugged and I took her cell number and she took mine. It was great so maybe you will see your friend again!;)
warsaw dreams 09-07-2003, 06:42 PM That's so cool! :yippee:

DarwinEx 09-09-2003, 10:09 PM Different is good.
Chelsea 09-09-2003, 11:18 PM Surprisingly, I tend to be some really bizarre combination of Dennis, Alan, and Arvid. I'm not kidding. Depending on the time of day, and what kind of mood I'm in, I tend to float back and forth between the 2
mudshark82 09-10-2003, 09:56 AM while we're going on these reunions with high school friends i think i really gotta mention one. last week i was a passenger in a bad drunk driving accident/police chase (very long story, i was barely conscious the whole ride). a girl i used to know back in high school, about 2 1/2 years ago, read the article in the paper and she talked to some people and was able to get back in touch with me. it was great to see her, we werent even good friends in school, we just talked in class but now that we're older i see her as alot more and as a really good person. i went out on a date with her last night that went great, its funny to think someone you never thought you'd see again would be drawn back to you by a near death experience...
