I thought this episode was really touching. It was so sad when Jo found out that Gail was dying! I cried when she left. I never had that type of thing happen to me before, but I just think of how I might feel if I found out that my favorite teacher (Mr. Bennett, my middle school art teacher) were dying, and I know how Jo must've felt.

I agree. See the other post called "some questions to think about" on my thoughts, or just read it here.
I was crying too during this episode - I had a teacher who, although she wasn't dying, had to leave at the end of the school year because her husband got a totally new job out of the country. She was actually a teacher I'd call my best friend (really!!) and when I saw this episode, I just totally started crying, and like I said before, I couldn't help sympathizing along with Jo. It was still a great episode, and I can't WAIT for "Best Sister" tonight!!

I thought that this episode was great, but I found the ending a little disappointing. I think that they should have had more of a scene between Jo and Gail - more discussion about her leaving, and why.

i wish i had known that this episode was going to be so good because i would have taped it! it was one of those episodes that really got to me it was so sad(even now when i thonk bout it i get all teary eyed)also somehting sorta similar happened to me(not that she was dying though) but my favorite teacher from third and forth grade moved to new york when i was in seventh grade and it was just like a friend leaving cuz even though she was a teacher she was cool she went to our sports games and was really nice(well i was her favorite well me and my boyfriend that is...) even after i went to middle school she was my math tutor and we still saw each other a lot and then she would have me and my bf help out at this after school sports thing and then when she said she was going back to new york (she grew up there) i was really sad... http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/frown.gif and that is my sad story~

in the uncut episode mrs. g and gail talk in the kitchen when mrs. g said she'd get her a cup of coffee... well gail tells mrs. g that she is sick and is dying and i don't remember waht it is she's dying from (I saw this ep on USA back at school with anni) and she tells mrs. g all about it and stuff and they talk... and then gail says but please don't tell jo, i'd like to be able to tell her myself... and mrs. g is like ok... and then it goes back to the cafeteria with the girls... and stuff... but NaN's version is still kinda nice cuz you don't find out that gail is dying until mrs. g tells her... so its kinda nice that way cuz you ond't know WHY she's leaving yet... thought you might like to know that...

That was actually a good thing N@N did, I can tell you I was shocked the first time I watched this episode. I think it was better how Mrs G told her, during the singing of 'Happy Birthday', that was genius on the writer's part.

Yeah this episode was really good. I am the only in my family who likes FOL, but my mom was watching it, and when Jo was crying, my mom lost it too! I'll admit, i was a little(ok alot) tearyeyed.

I've been there so I can relate to Jo.
