Guys,
You probably all know about John Walsh. The host of America's Most Wanted. You may recall that his little boy Adam was heartbreakingly abducted in July, 1981 from a Holywood Florida Sears Mall and two weeks later found murdered.
The story of his son's abduction and murder was well documented in the TV movie Adam first broadcast in 1983, and in it's sequal Adam, His Song Continues. However, what the movies do NOT show is well documented in Mr. Wash's outstanding book, Tears of Rage This book shows how ill-equipped and incompetant the local law enforcment agencies were at catching Adams killer. Adam's suspected murderer was a well-known pedophille who had served time in prison for over 100 other barbaric crimes against woman and children but was never indicted in Adam's murder. Key forensic evidence was destroyed or lost linking the main suspect to the crime scene, the local Holywood Florida Police Depatment was at the time better suited to search for missing cars than missing children!
The book talks about John Walsh's work to make missing children laws a national precident. How he set up national crime databases with the FBI and the Department of Justice to track known predophilles. How he got stiffer penalties for convicted criminals who committed crimes against children, and of course, how he became a part of America's Most Wanted.
Tears of Rage is a heartbreaking, beautiful thought provoking book! I picked up my copy for about $8.00 at Amazon.com. What a story! (Although some parts are very painful to read) I was moved to tears many times!
John Walsh is a true hero, and I want to thank him and his family for all he has done to protect children and their families!
