Does anyone know if there is a specific reason why almost all of the sets used in the color epsiodes are painted in that green color? Also curtains, furniture, doors, etc... Maybe for cinematographic reasons?

It makes me think of the Emerald City!

Maybe the set decorators were leprechauns.

Green must have a very popular color in the 60's. My mom told me that when she and my dad first bought their home in the early 60's every room in the house was a different shade of green. Even the basement was painted green.

Later on the green kinda disappears from the scene. IN the courthouse anyway.

Kitchens and bathrooms during that era were always either adavaco green or harvest gold.

This is just a guess so far, but since this show had previously been shot in black and white, it's quite possible that those greens (and some other colors) were used in order that the black and white imaging looked 'good' (had proper contrast, shading, etc.). It was also quite very typical for black and white movies to use special colors for sets, costumes and makeup -- particularly in the days of orthochromatic film stock.

I've noticed there are three "color eras" for the courthouse, the green already mentioned, a slightly tan shade of beige, and a light gray.

The green and tan/beige color schemes seem to find their way into the Taylor household, leading me to conclude that Andy is misappropriating county property for his own use. ;)

Andy probably just didn't want the left over paint to go to waste.
