When my great uncle was in the Korean War he told me that him and a bunch of G.I.s when they came home, all line uped to get a kiss from Lucille Ball, it was one of those things she did for the G.I.s or whatever. But he told me that it was when she was really young and she was doing "My Favorite Husband" at the time, he said she was young and beautiful and she had bright orange-red hair and big blue eyes. I was excited when he told me that story and I always ask him about it. So thats the closest I've ever got to Lucille Ball...through mr great uncle...how about you?

He must have gotten out of the war pretty early, because the war didn't start until 1950 and ILL started in 1951.

Anyway, what Mr. Roper said...my TV Set.

Hey, sorry to go O/T here, but that's a great new picture you have there, dawsongirl. The real Incredible Hulk! :)

Well, Doctor Banner, strictly speaking, but still... oh how much better than that awful bloody film!

Smelling her perfume on that autographed picture she sent, FOR CLAUDE, LOVE LUCY! And, when she did Lucy in London, Montreal was on the list of other cities considered, pathetic isn't it? And when this big star was rumored to have come here for a face lift, they said it was Lucy, but it was only Bette Davis! I did accost every star she ever worked with that came here to perform though! Jack Benny, Danny Kaye and many others.

The closest I've ever gotten to Lucille Ball is my TV set. I have met some of the people that worked with her like Keith Thibodeaux, Carole Cook, and Jimmy Garret, but I don't know if that counts.

LOL, well yes, actually, Keith Thibodeaux was in the museum at the same time I was, so I accidentally, "bumped" into him. It's really crowded in there anyway, but that gave me one excuse to touch him! But then when he signed my book the next day I got to touch him and talk to him. The others I got as close to them as I could, but already they were swamped with fans asking for autographs. I did the best I could!

I know it's not for me to answer but i LOVE Barbara, keep seing her on Larry King and she's so great even through her recent grief as her son died of drugs should take a heavy toll on her, but she's getting through it and keeps going, just like Carol Burnett, truly admirable women!

LOL, yes, he just "happened" to be a few inches away from me so I just "happened" to bump into him. Well, the first thing I said to him was "Pardon me" for bumping into him, lol, but then when he signed my book for me the next day, he said hi and he asked me how I was, so I said "Hi" and "Fine, how are you?" and then "Maggie" when he asked me who I wanted the book signed to. I know it's not much, but I was really excited to meet him! :) His wife is a lovely person too. I ran into her in the bathroom at one of the events, but that was before I knew she was Keith's wife.

Speaking of Carol Burnett, who by the way was one of Lucy's closest friends throughout the years, I caught her at Barnes & Noble in NYC. SHe looked great. Thats the closest I got to another legend, and since I'm sure she's hugged Lucy throughout the years, thats the closest I've ever got to Lucille Ball.

Mkaleek, theoretically the air you breathe everyday has already been breathed in and out by everybody who has ever walked the Earth. So if you want to think about it that way, you could well currently have atoms of oxygen in your lungs that once nestled inside the capillaries of Lucy and/or Desi.

I wouldn't recommend you never breathing out again, just to keep them though! ;)

Bruce is a B movie actor who has become famous for films like Army of Darkness and the like, he's got a very big following. I meant the subject matter of ******** towns who don't allow dancing is not going to bring in the kids to the theaters, can't believe places like that still exist! I still love the movie, i just fast forward to the great musical numbers.
