I watched my videotape of the "Wings" episode where they play Trivial Pursuit (that's one of my all-time FAVORITES....Roy and Lowell are just like Ralph Kramden and Ed Norton in that one!).

One thing that strikes me about that episode is how Roy is a true gourmet cook....he not only prepares dishes using only the best and the freshest ingredients, but he waits until the dish is just about to be served to add certain spices and flavorings for the ultimate flavor.

This is quite a change from the later Roy, who served his guests snacks which were not only inedible, but unrecognizable! (Remember Joe and Helen getting grossed out at the food being served at Roy's house when his mother was coming to visit?)

I know that it was easier to go for "cheap, gross-out" laughs by having Roy prepare and serve disgusting food, but personally I thought that the earlier "gourmet" Roy showed a different side to his character and made him MUCH more interesting as a person!

Pilotguy, don't forget, though, his motto for game get together food, "If it's green, it's trouble, if it's fried, get double"!

But in the episode you're talking about, remember Fay says at the end, "he's making cornbread". Makes you wonder if he has a special touch to that, too.

Also, the episode where he buys the car-b-que from Lowell. Granted, he had help but he made that chicken, and he was going to drive down to Virginia that weekend and was going to cook, I think, a roast.

I know I'm forgetting some others!
