Yep, if you haven't already heard, Drake was fired and since he's gone I really don't expect Deidre to be nice about it, she'll either quit or try and persuade them to change their minds. All I know is this is suicide. This show is DEAD!!! What is JERK thinking, how can it survive if you kill off 2/3's of the Super Six? I can answer that IT WON'T!

Oh yeah. I think this was a HUGE mistake. I am still just completely shocked. My mom doesn't really seem to care but I sure do. Believe it or not when I was like 12 or 13 I had the biggest crush on Drake. This is just so sad.

This has got to be Reilly's biggest screw up ever. In a small little way, I understand the other firings, but this one is takes the cake. How dare they fire Drake Hogestyn, this is insane. Days and Reilly have completely and utterly lost their freaking minds to let go of John Black. My heart goes out to Drake, this must have been a major shock to him. And a major shock to all the Jarlena fans. For as long as I've watched Days, I've always loved John Black, and now we're losing him, which by the way is total BS.
I sure hope Reilly knows what he's done, because of this firing, Days "will" lose a ton fans and ratings "will" drop immensely.

"Well Reilly... I hope you're satisfied, you just killed Days". We can kiss Days good bye!!!!!

Ken Corday really should fire Reilly ASAP and find someone(s) who knows how to write for soap operas, instead of this joker. I say, to he!! with Reilly.

if this is true, i am shocked as well. but really, i can't blame them for getting rid of a useless character. and by useless, he is only useless because they do nothing with him. they have had john black do nothing in about three years. he is on there only to argue with marlena about the dimera's and talk to his kids. his character is about as usefull as shawn and carolines right now.
if they had any sense they would start bringing new storylines of his past into the forefront. hey, i can make up good ideas so i know they could.

How can you say this sucks, this is great news! Alot of fans didn't want Drake to leave. I'm just glad this got cleared up before a war broke out. I thought for sure the fans were going to attack Days, especially Reilly. The fans were fuming, I've never seen anything like it before.

Some of his writing is crappy, especially on Passions, no offense Passions fans. But, I'm hoping once he gets back into the groove of things on Days, his writing will improve.

He ruins Passions with that stupid couple Sheridan & Luis. Where are all the other characters in Passions now a days? JER erases all the other characters out and focuses on Sheridan & Luis, it is bull. I would rather see more Tabitha, Julian, Ivy, David (although the original guy playing him has been temporay fired), TC with his shed storyline and other stuff. I am sick of Sheridan and her dumb pregnancy.

Sheridan and Luis aren't that bad of a couple, but IMO, they are over-rated. Seems like Reilly is more into the LA storyline, so everyone else is on the back burner. Reilly really should end the Sheridan and pregnancy storyline ASAP, it's getting old.

No matter who the writer is, storylines will always be dragged out for a length of time. Plus, I've heard that Reilly is
famous for dragging out storylines, he's proven that theory on Passions. Plus, this "serial killing" storyline is supposedly going to last for quite sometime, I've heard at least until next year. Yeah it can be dumb at times, but it can also be suspenseful, especially with all the twist and turns.

The occassional umbrella storyline which usually gets dragged out:

The Desecrator/Possession of December 1994-July 1995
The Paris Underground of June-August 1996

The occassional storyline flop:

The Jungle adventure of 1997
The Jonah/Wendy storyline of 1996

and of course his trademarks:

spiritual/faith energized into stories (i.e. angels/spirits)
fake deaths (Stefano's, Peter's)
locations (Paris in 1996, Rome in 1997)

Right now Days is in an interesting spot:

We have the serial killer umbrella storyline looming with three couples, (Jack & Jennifer, Abe & Lexie, Bo & Hope) directly connected to it while everyone else in the cast has stories going on that in one form or another will be affected by the events that are about to happen. We have the bad, (Rex, Sami, Tony, Stefano) basically pitted against everyone else who are good. I see the Reilly character/story construction at work.

I have always found soap news and scoops to be very reliable, they were the first to report about Matthew Ashford's firing.

Someone told me that it's true Drake has been fired, I guess it's either the current SOD or SID.

I respect people's opinions, but it always bothers me that it doesnt bother others that they just get rid of veteran actors/characters like they are yesterday's garbage, that is part of the problem with soaps these days, people just dont' care IMO.

Well luckily, it's not true. Someone from Days has already made a statement stating that Drake is NOT fired. After that happened, Drake had commented on the whole issue. But, I'm very pleased that Drake isn't leaving.

In a small way, I'm kind of glad that happened, it showed Days that the fans
love Drake Hogestyn (John Black) and that the fans won't stand and tolerate Drake's exit. This is the one time that I know of that the fans loud and big mouths were heard and that's a fact. lol I had to add that in there. lol

it's not that i would just get rid of a major character just to do it. there is so much they could do with john black but don't. all he has done for about three years is argue with marlena about the dimeras and talk to his kids. he has become a useless character. because the writers don't use him.
i would feel the same about any character, major or subliminal. shawn and caroline, mickey and maggie, celeste, alice, doug and julie... all these come and go as the storylines flow. you see them when you need supporting characters. but not john black. he is there half the episode doing absolutely nothing for the show or storyline.

this is why i feel they should either let him go or give him something to do. drake is too good to waste. and that is what they are doing him and john black.

Thats what I heard to that Drake was fired, but then I heard he isn't and the person that is fired is the lady that plays Carolyn Brady. I know that Jack and Abe have been fired too.
