View Full Version : Ladies dress alike - Why?

I've noticed that women in groups often dress alike.

This morning while waiting to board the PATH train, I spotted a trio of very tired gals who were obviously up all night clubbing, and they were all wearing the same outfit (black top, dark blue jeans, sandals). Sure there were slight variations of the shirts - one was sleeveless, one more of a halter, but the overall package was the same. Balck shirt, jeans sandals. All the same color.

Whenever I see a group of women out at a bar, I can't help but notice that most of them are wearing the same clothes!

Personally, I feel strange if I find I'm at a place and some guy is wearing the same shirt I am. If my roomie is wearing the same color as I am when we go out - One of us changes.

Still, I see groups of gals all dressed alike. Is this common?
Whatever happened to individuality?

Maybe they all want to look slimmer in black? When I would hang with my friends I was the only flower bedecked gal. Maybe that's why they wouldn't hang with me.

Just a few thoughts...

1) They may be such good friends with like ideas that they simply have similar tastes.

2) They don't change clothes to have different colors because they are secure enough in their friendship to not feel the threat of competition amongst themselves.

3) Pure coincidence.

4) And... possibly... Gang affiliation.

Me and my friends have gotten accused of dressing alike, and even calling each other to find out what to wear, but its not true. Actually that was one of our "slutty" teachers that accused us of that. We sometimes shop at the same stores, but we rarely ever end up with the same shirts. Yah, sometimes we're wearing the same brand, but not the same shirt. I dunno, its not like we mean to wear the same colors either. It just turns out like that sometimes. No planning though!

Birds of a feather I guess. Business women wear similar business clothes as well. There's only so much to buy in the stores too. We buy what's in style, and sort of end up looking alike sometimes.

Occasionally, to express my individuality, I wear my swan dress that Bjork wore to that Award Show. She copied me, you know.

I think girls are a little different about that sort of thing than guys. I remember when I was in Junior High Coca Cola shirts were really popular with us. One of my classmates had a blue one exactly like mine and she would say "Why don't we wear our Coca Cola shirts tomorrow?" and we would.

I don't think I dress anything like anyone in my skool. I mean, don't get me wrong...I'm not the weird one...I just...I dunno. I mean, most ppl in my skool wear only Aeropostle and American Eagle clothes. Others are only Hot Topic shoppers. I shop everywhere. Aeropostle, American Eagle, Gap, Hot Topic. NE place. And one day I may look like the popular ppl in the Aeropostle clothes. Other days I might be all Hot Topic. But most of the time I mix and match it. Hot Topic pants, a tank top from Gap and my jean jacket. Or a skirt and a Hot Topic shirt. Other days I look like I just rolled outta bed and I put on some Adidas button up pants and a t-shirt and my hair is however I feel like fixing it. I'm pretty versatile with clothes, and I never really follow a specific trend.

Last night I'm sitting at my favorite bar around the corner, and in walks three girls. All blonde, All wearing white shirts.

I say to my roomie "Hey, that blonde is cute."
He turns and looks. "Which one," He asks.
"The one in white." I reply.

Send in the clones.

I don't think I dress alike my friends at all....I mean....most of my clothes are hand me downs first of all (haha I hate to shop) and when I do get my own clothes they're from Old Navy or Kohls or wherever.

I wear a lot of different stuff. Mostly I wear stuff like a t-shirt that says something on it like a place ive been or Nike or its just white or a Mudd shirt or something along those lines. Then Ill put on my zip front light blue roxy sweatshirt w\ boot cut or flared jeans or jeans shorts and my sneakers and ill got to school that way w\ my hair down or up in a sloppy bun type thing. Then one day I might wear sweats or my norte dame, roxy, or my sports sweatshirt from my school sports i played last year w\ a pair of jeans. I dont wear tight, skimpy clothing. My jeans are sorta tight but not that tight. Tight enough so that they are baggy and loose enough so that I dont look like a tramp like most ppl at my school like thier jeans. I wear what is comfortable and if anyone has a problem w\ that they can kiss my :mooner:.;)
