On 'Samantha's Caesar Salad', they showed an anti-war protest rally in sort of the background of a scene. With the Vietnam War raging in 1969, it makes sense, yet the show usually steered clear of topical references, particulary issues of a political nature.

I read some of the protest signs, and they were the usual, Make Love, Not War; however, I noticed one sign that read:
Alice, We Miss You. Come Home. Mom
My memory may not be perfect on that wording, but I'm wondering if someone connected with Bewitched had a daughter named Alice in the Armed Forces and this was a special message.

Also, are there other episodes that show current issues as this?

Could the references to U.N.I.C.E.F in a few episodes and in particular in "Samantha Twitches For UNICEF" where there is also a mention of the world's hungry children be a current event raised in the script?

It certainly qualifies to me. Perhaps that was Elizabeth Montgomery's favorite charity.

I don't know about the personal connection of 'Alice' to someone on the show, and I don't know about the military connection. Either one or both of those are possiblilities. Another possibility is in those times peoples' sons and daughters would run off to join communes. Maybe thats where Alice was.

I never thought of that. It's a good possibility. The sign seemed so personal.
