LaverneShirley 02-03-2001, 01:50 PM No. But this is SOOOO unfair. Last year in social studies we studied Australia. I had Mrs. Fitzwater. This year I have her for study hall, and right now her class is studying Australia and they got to watch the first episode of Survivor II. In American history this year we watched the movie Revolution with Al Pacino in it. Ummm.. we watched the Diary of Anne Frank in English class because we read the play. But I don't think I've ever seen any shows in class...

"Well, Laverne is sort of childish" -Shirley
"Childish? Childish? Coming from a grown woman who throws tea parties for her stuffed cat!" -Laverne
"Well at least I don't sew L's on everything I wear!" -Shirley
"Well that would be pretty stupid considering your name's Shirley!" -Laverne
BlairW_1 02-03-2001, 07:53 PM You guys are lucky! The only things we've ever watched were "educational films" in Social Studies!

T: Oh no! She's right! Sweet little me IS a mass murderer! But I don't remember any of it. Multiple personalities! That's gotta be it! Six faces of me! Each face responsible for a different death! Andy, George, Natalie, Blair, Beverly Ann, Jo.
B: And then there was Tootie!
T: AAAAHHHHH! Blair! But... I thought you were...
B: Dippity-dooed? That's what I wanted everyone to think! That made it easier to get rid of the rest of you!
T: You? You're the murderer? Blair, that's so inconsiderate!
B: Don't you see? That's part of my plan to eliminate everyone who falls under the fifty percent tax bracket!
T: But we were your friends!
B: My friends don't wear polyester! They don't drive motorcycles or ramblers! They don't buy their shoes from the supermarket!
T: I get mine from Paris, honest!
B: Face it, Tootie! You're hopelessly middle-class!
T: Blair! Blair! Please, wait! Please! Blair! Oh no! AAHH!
BA: No, please, please! No! Don't kill Tootie! No!
N: Beverly Ann, wake up!
BA: Don't drink the cocoa!

lesliem14 02-03-2001, 08:37 PM In high school we watched movies when it applied like Grapes of Wrath, Great Gatsby, West Side Story, I've seen one version of Romeo and Juliet several times. I think the best was in eigth grade, I had my Mom, and she wanted to show Last of the Mohicans and had to send a note home to be signed, and on the last day of school we got to watch Dave except she fast fowarded through this one part!

Yes... but they don't get to act out the middle ages with M&M's. I was a vassel and BlairW_1 was a peasant. In fact, I used Blair's quote, (even though Jo's my fave) "You peasant!" I even bought her for one M&M. I think that I got the short end of the bargain. LOL! (j/k)

B: What's your opinion on school, Alexz?
A: I'm one of your average, ordinary 'Little House on the Prairie' school kids... Except I don't carry one of those little buckets around.

M: What would you do if a guy didn't call?
J: Oh, they always call me. They want to be part of my life. They want to get to know me. They want to share.
M: But if he didn't call?
J: I'd breath a great big sigh of reief. Unless, of course, I liked him. Then I'd hunt him down and slash his tires.

Meg07945 02-04-2001, 11:45 PM We watch educational movies most of the time. We've watched Glory and 1776 and stuff. Once, on the last day beofre Xmas break, we watched a FOL-ish film. Iron Will, which stars Mackenzie Astin, who played Andy. But thats about it. Once in English we watched Mighty Mouse. But that was because she also teaches the classic films class, and we had nothing to do. Mighty Mouse is really OT, but who cares?
Devastation26 02-04-2001, 11:55 PM I really wish that at my High School, they'd offer a Classic TV class. And then, spend an entire 8 week grading period solely over The facts of life. But that will never happen....

Devastation, I took a class like that in college. It got really, really, really deep, and we over-analyzed every little aspect of the show (which happened to be All in the Family). Its been a few years since that class, but I still cannot watch All in the Family and just laugh at it, like I did before the class, which is kind of a shame. But it definately was interesting!
