Disclaimer: This story belongs to Jeanie because it's her b'day present. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! ILY. The Division however beongs to DJL, if that belonged to Jeanie too, we all know what would be different now, right? :) So I'm writing this to make up for that a little at least. This is my idea of an alternative ending for the season finale. A lot will stay the same though. And I'm not gonna change the whole previous season, just the finale. It starts to be different the moment superma... ah I mean Jack As... ahh Ellis... is coming to see Jinny. ;)
To be completely honest, I first wanted to make another picture story thing, but I couldn't come up with an idea and I didn't wanna do the same twice. So I hope you'll like this too. Have a great day!


ACTS OF BETRAYAL AND ACTS OF LOVE


There was a knock on the door and Jinny went to open it. She was surprised to find her still husband standing there.

"Hi." He said, sounding relieved.

"Hey." Jinny still was surprised to see him there.

"I saw your light on, so I thought you might still be up." He had waited in his car in front of the house for a while already, wondering if he should go up or better not.

Jinny nodded slightly. "Uhm listen I was just making... making some tea." She motioned towards her kitchen. "You want some?"

"Yeah I'd love some. Thanks" Jack walked inside past her as she closed the door again.

When Jack walked into the kitchen he looked around like he had never seen the place before. Jinny got a cup out of the cupboard and there was an awkward silence between them.

Suddenly they both spoke up again at the same time. "Look... look I..." Jack said.

"See I really..." Jinny smiled because they had started to talk at the same time. She stroked her hair behind her ears and waited for him to speak up again.

After another moment of silence he did. "I just uh... I didn't wanna leave without..."

"I'm really glad that you didn't." She had thought a lot and had come to conclusions which actually had been there all along, deep down in her heart she had always known. But she had been scared to admit it to herself. And afraid to feel hurt again. But the truth was that she had to deal with the pain she still felt.

He smiled at that and stepped closer.

But she sighed and stepped back. "Jack... look. We really need to talk."

He nodded and they went to sit down on the couch, pretty much as far away from each other as possible.

Jinny took a deep breath and looked at her hands and then back at him again. "This... this isn't exactly easy for me to say... and it's probably going to hurt you, but I have to tell you."

He nodded, a little scared of what she was going to say now. "Go ahead."

"I want a divorce." She was relieved that was said now. But she knew she had to say a lot more. He wanted to speak up but she stopped him. "Let me explain..." She took a deep breath. "When we met... there was something missing in my life... someone missing. ANd I thought you could fill up that void. But you couldn't give me what I needed. Because what I needed and actually, what I still need is more than a relationship that's based on sex and hearing 'I love you' every now and then. It's the little things. You never told me something cute... no candles lit in the whole room. Little touches and smiles... you never showed me that you loved me. And to be honest I don't think you ever did. But then again neither did I. Or else I never would have started drinking again... and the drugs. I think you drove me into that. And I'm sure it's for the best if we don't see each other again." She swallowed and looked at him. He was the biggest mistake she ever made because now she knew she could never substitue the only man she ever loved.

He glared at her. "Fine. You'll get your divorce." With that he got up and stormed off, slamming the door shut behind him. This hadn't gone like he had planned at all.

Jinny took another deep breath. But she knew that she had done the right thing. She wanted him out of her life again and she had succeeded. But she couldn't stop the tears from emerging her eyes. Not because she missed him, but because she still missed the one who still owned her heart.

The next day at work started with Spivey pissing them off again. Everybody was anxious to get Kate back. So after hitting her street sources CD decided to pay her a little visit. She knew her friend and boss well enough to know she'd want to know what was going on at the Division. Apart from that there was something on her mind that she really wanted to talk about. But once she was there she knew she couldn't, not just because Kate was their boss, also because she hardly ever talked about her feelings. The only person she felt comfortable with when she opened up was Nate. And she longed to talk to him too, but she couldn't talk to him about talking to him. The door opened in front of her before she even ringed the bell and CD was torn out of her thoughts again.

"CD... hey." Louis said. "Go on in. But don't make her work!" He warned and hurried off.

CD frowned and watched after him for a second. "Hey to you too." She muttered and then walked inside. "Kate?" She called out.

"In the dining room." Kate answered and had to smile. She was glad somebody from work came by, especially CD.

"Hey you." CD gave her a quick hug and sat down next to her, putting her black jacket over the chair behind her.

"Louis just made some tea. Do you want some?" She motioned at the teapot.

"Sure." She smiled.

Louis hadn't drunk any so Kate filled up the second cup that was on the table. "What's going on?" She asked curious to hear more about their latest case. "And how's the acting Captain doing?"

CD rolled her eyes at that. "He's not you, ya know?" She sighed and then started to tell her what they had found out so far.

Kate listened to it and watched her. "But that's not everything on your mind, is it?" She knew CD was one of those inspectors who saw the people behind the cases and solving a crime meant more to her then finishing up a folder with paperwork. But she knew CD well enought to know that something else was going on.

CD had to smile a little and bit her lower lip. "Nah... it's not so important... private stuff, you know?" She took a sip of the tea.

"Private stuff... I see." Kate nodded but looked at her questioningly.

CD sighed. "Okay, it's a guy... but really, that's not important right now, okay?"

"Okay." Kate knew that CD apparently wasn't ready to talk about it yet but couldn't help but wonder what everybody had been wondering for quite a while now anyways. She considered if she should ask how Nate was doing and watch her reaction to that to get a clue but at that moment the phone rang. "I'm sorry, I'll be right back." She supported herself on the table to get up.

"I'll help you." CD got up right away.

"No, it's fine, really. I have this thing here." she slightly grumbled, not too fond of her walker at all as she made her way to the livingroom with it.

Watching after her CD hoped she would be all okay again soon, knowing how much she must hate this. She knew she would probably be a lot more impatient in her situation. Apart from that she wondered if it really was that obvious that no matter what else was going on, Nate was on her mind all the time too. She took a sip of her tea and then looked up when she noticed Kate re-enter the room. She smiled a little bit proud of her even because she seemed to make good progress.

Kate smiled back at her. "Okay, do you remember the movie Heidi?" She asked, making her way back to the table. CD thought for a second and slightly nodded as Kate continued: "With the little girl who got up out of her wheelchair and she walked all by herself?"

"But only because Shirley Temple told her she could walk if she really tried." CD answered.

"Right, but Shirley Temple was here last night." Kate said and put her walker aside.

CD quickly got up, not quite sure what to expect now and watched Kate stand by herself, still supporting herself at the wall though. "Good as new." She really hadn't expected this much progress yet.

"Well almost, I still got this..." Kate held up her crutch for a second and then used it to walk now. "...but it's an improvement." She chuckled a little.

"Where is Louis?" CD asked as she held out the chair for Kate to sit down again.

"Oh god, he's at the farmer's market. He's been cooking day and night and I don't have the heart to tell him to stop." She said slightly annoyed as she and CD sat down again. "How is the search going?"

CD just gave her a look at first that made it clear she wasn't satisfied at all with that. "We were close. But now, with this little boy taken hostage we're nowhere and I really ah..." She checked her watch. "I really should get back."

"Oh." Kate said slightly disappointed at that. "Well, lemme help." She wished she could be there with them.

CD got up and put her jacket on again. She knew how much Kate missed her job and she really hoped she would return. Spivey was more than a pain in the ass and she'd even rather have Captain Bears back before being stuck with that bonsai whacko. But of course what they all wanted was Kate back where she belonged.

"I'm ya know, I'm going a lil crazy here to tell you the truth. And as you can see I'm fine, so at least keep me in the loop?" She asked slightly desperate.

CD smiled and made a mental note to send Raina over with the latest reports later. "I will" She leaned down and kissed her head. "See you cap."

After Louis had come back and cooked yet again before leaving to buy even more stuff, Kate had to realize that walking without any kind of walking aid wasn't exactly the best idea she ever had.

Meanwhile at the station Magda and Jinny came back from buying tea for Magda from the vendor in the lobby. They were alone in the elevator on the way up and Magda looked over at her partner. "Jonah came by earlier." She said looking back into her papercup again.

"What'd he want?" Jinny asked, knowing about everything that had been going on.

"To apologize for his behavior and all." She slightly shrugged. "And he gave me the key to his apartment. He wants me in his life for real." As she said the last part she sounded a little uncomfortable about that.

Jinny frowned. "But isn't that what you wanted? I mean you know you can't keep both Gabe and Jonah, right?" She asked.

"Yeah, right." Her voice didn't exactly sound like she was agreeing on that.

"Okay Mag." Jinny looked at her sternly wondering when she had become the sensible one of them. "What do you think he would have done if you were pregnant? Do you really think he would have come back to you too then?"

Magda just shrugged and started to stir in her tea as they walked out of the elevator. "Enough about me... what about you? I saw Jack yesterday. You didn't tell me he's back in town."

"Not for long. He's moving back to Tucson. Actually he left this morning." It didn't phase her too much.

"What's that mean?" Magda had been glad there had been somebody stable in Jinny's life.

"It means he's out of town again." Jinny gave her a look.

"And what happens now? You gonna get a divorce?" At least then she wasn't the only one with a screwed up marriage anymore.

They walked back into the bullpen, passing CD, Nate and Raina who had found the little boy again, still alive. Jinny quickly looked over at CD. "I'm gonna ask CD about that later. She mentioned that her lawyer handled hers really great."

"I heard she paid the bill in his bed." Mag muttered and Jinny just rolled her eyes. She couldn't believe how hypocrite Magda was. As somebody who was cheating on her husband she really was the last one to criticize CD's or her relationships.

The acting Captain Spivey saw how Inspector Exstead and her partner, the one who actually helped him with the grid but whose name had slipped his mind right now walked in again. He figured her name was Lopez or Sanchez or something because she was Hispanic. But she wasn't the one who he needed to talk to right now. "Inspector Exstead? I have news." He walked out of what he already considered his office. "Ballistics came back from the gun recovered from the prisoners' escape. They got an IVAS hit, a match with another ongoing investigation. An officer involved shooting."

Jinny listened to him and somehow already knew what he was talking about. She hoped she was right, then they'd finally know who that bastard was.

"It's the same gun that killed your brother." He confirmed her suspicion. "It belonged to Ray Sanchez. I'm sorry."

"Are you okay Jin?" Magda asked her, having heard all of that too.

"More than okay." She nodded a little. "Now I know who killed John." She right away called Casey and her father to tell them the news, already knowing how her father was to react lateron much likely. And she was right about that too. When he came by her apartment, he wanted to go after Sanchez himself better now than later. But she managed to convince him that she would handle it.

In the next morning the day at work started like every morning lately: Spivey did his best to attain his position as acting Captain by acting up. It wasn't as if they really were giving a damn about what he had to say though. At last most of them couldn't care less. But suddenly their attention was undivided again as they saw their real Captain walk in. Immediately everybody started to smile at her, glad to see her. Everybody except Spivey who stared at her like a guppy for a second before he managed to force a small smile. "Kate."

She smiled back at them and was happy about the warm welcome she was receiving from her inspectors. But she was just there to get her mail and told Spivey so. He wasn't that fond of being confronted by her presence anyways so he gladly told her that unfortunately he had to go to a meeting soon.

"I can manage." Kate said and walked into her office.

"Uhh where was I?" Spivey wanted to continue and then started to talk about overtime when he saw how that blonde chick was getting up from her chair. All these women here really annoyed him. "What do you think you're doing?" He stared at her in disbelief.

"Getting up." She stated dryly as if that hadn't been obvious. She gave him a 'try and stop me' glare as she walked towards Kate's office.

He knew if he caused a commotion about that now she most likely would humiliate him and he didn't need that so he just continued.

CD rolled her eyes and then knocked on the door before entering Kate's office, smiling broadly.

"Hey" Kate turned around to see who had walked in.

"Hi." CD approached her and crossed her arms. "You don't know how good it is to look up from the bullpen and see you in here."

Kate enjoyed to hear that, feeling honored. She only had to look at Spivey once to know he was a complete loser. But she also knew her people and that even ten Spiveys wouldn't stop them from doing their job right. "You don't know how weird it is for me."

"Not bad. So you made your list yet?" CD sat down and Kate looked at her questioningly. "Pros-and-cons-going-back-to-work list. I know you too long." And somehow she already knew that soon Kate would be back for good again and not just for the mail.

"The list." Kate wasn't really surprised that CD knew her so well. They really knew each other for quite a while already and at least when it came to work she knew they were a lot alike. "It's about even at this point. Ya know, I just may not physically be able to handle this anymore."

Upon hearing that CD looked worried. On the one hand she was worried about Kate's health and on the other hand afraid not to have her back as their Captain.

"And then I'm probably never gonna make Chief." Even though she hadn't even really considered that option before her friend approacher with it at first, she had gotten so determined to make it. And even though she didn't want to risk her health over it she knew that if she got back to work the ambition to get where she almost had been would be there. "And then there's Louis. God he's been so patient with me, really. I feel like I owe him."

CD nodded understandingly even though she thought Kate shouldn't give up everything that meant so much to her just because Louis wanted her to.

"Then on the other side I'm a cop." Kate said and could feel the thrill again, just by saying it. It was in her blood and it always would be.

CD nodded and smiled, her eyes lighting up a little. Kate was one helluva cop and she knew that feeling herself. It wasn't just some job for them, it was their life and no one who didn't feel the same way about it would ever understand.

"That's what I do. I love my job." Kate was glad she finally could talk about this to somebody who she knew felt the same way about it.

"And your people love you and they need you." CD said. They all missed her and she knew with Spivey in that office their Division was going down the drain.

"I gotta get out of here." Kate said and started to walk towards the door again. "Before Louis puts a BOLO out on me."

CD smiled at her again and then followed her out, putting her hand on her shoulder.

Raina introduced Liz to her and all of them talked about the case for a moment like they usually did. Kate gave them a very helpful tip before she left and they right away started to interview relatives of the escapees.

"Hey I'm just gonna go to the bathroom and then we can go talk to Gary's parents, okay?" CD asked Nate who nodded.

"Hey whatcha say? I could put a picture of that Bonsai up there and work some voodoo with all these little flags there, eh?" Nate smirked.

CD slightly shook her head and grinned at him. "Don't you dare!" She warned him. "...without me helping." She winked at him and he laughed as he watched her leave.

CD walked into the ladies' room and saw how Jinny was just washing her hands. "Hey." She smiled at her.

Jinny looked at her and decided now was as good a moment as any other. "Hey... you got a minute maybe?"

"Sure, what's up?" CD asked as she opened her locker.

Jinny sighed and walked up to her. "It's because..." She took a deep breath.

"Jin, what's wrong?" CD asked concerned now, knowing something was up.

Jinny sat down on the bench and CD sat down next to her. "I'm getting divorced." Jinny sighed again.

CD looked at her full of sympathy and put her hand on her shoulder. "Oh god Jin, I'm so sorry..."

"It's okay, really. I want it. It was a huge mistake to get married to him in the first place. It's just... I mean you've been through that all." She just hoped she wasn't bringing up painful memories for her.

"Yeah." CD nodded. "To be honest, at first I was devasted. But you have no idea how glad I am now. I thought I loved Paul. But the truth is I didn't even know what love is."

Jinny nodded. "I knew love but I thought I could substitute it with a guy who just seemed to be a lot like me." She admitted.

"You still love Teddy, don't you?" CD asked, not surprised about that at all.

"Seems like I gotta find another way of getting over him." Jinny said, some bitterness in her voice. If only she could turn back time.

"I'm so sorry Jin, but if there's anything I can do for you... anything at all, don't hesitate, I'm here for you." CD told her.

"Thanks CD. But right now all I need is a good divorce lawyer. I was wondering if you still have the number of yours, he was good, right?" She really didn't want to think about Teddy right now. She hoped that concentrating on the divorce would keep her mind off him.

"Brian? Yeah. He was a great lawyer. His number... wait." she got up again and rummaged through her locker, getting out a small address book and sat back down looking through that. "Brian Lewis, there you go." She wrote the number on a piece of paper and gave that to her. "You might not wanna mention you got his number from me though." She added.

Jinny took it from her and put it into her pocket, looking at her with raised eyebrow. "Why's that?"

"We didn't exactly end on good terms." CD put the address book back into her locker.

"What happened?" Jinny got up herself now.

CD slightly growled. "Okay, promise me not to tell this anybody else."

"My lips are sealed. I'm not Raina, right?" Jinny smiled.

CD nodded. "When we were on vacation together..." She paused.

"Yeah?" Jinny looked at her questioningly.

"I kinda called him another name somehow..." She got her scarf out of her locker and closed it again.

That stunned even Jinny. She hadn't expected that at all. "You mean in bed?"

"Yes." CD admitted. "And I swear if you tell that to anybody..."

"I won't!" She put her hands up and then grinned. "What'd you call him?"

CD just gave her a look and put her scarf around her neck and walked out again. Jinny laughed watching after her. "I bet it was Nate." She said to herself.

After CD returned she and Nate got their jackets and left to talk to Gary's parents. Even though the drive there took almost an hour they kept their discussion strictly proffessional, neither of them was quite ready to bring up the kiss again even though they both couldn't stop thinking about it. Once they were there his parents were very friendly. They took off their jackets and talked to them for quite a while. When they left again they had come to the conclusion that Gary's violent behavior was most likely caused by the large amount of video games, that he apparently was addicted to. On their way back they talked about that and how his childhood screwed him up which explained his psychotic tendencies.

"I mean I don't know really what it is, not all kids who had a horrible childhood turn into freaked out mass murderers." Nate said and looked over at her. She had told him enough about her own childhood so he knew that she didn't exactly have a blast herself. But still she turned her life around and made something great out of it because no matter what happened, she never gave up. That was just one of the many things that he adored so much about her.

She shrugged. "I guess a lot is because of the influences. If you grow up with bad stuff all around you and in addition to that you're hit with bad influences from all sides you'll never know anything else. But if you're lucky and you have just a couple of good influences and enough hope and ambition for your future it might be possible to find happiness at last, right?"

"Did you?" He asked hoping her answer was gonna be yes.

She gave him a small smile. "I like to think so. Every now and then." With that she pulled up at the station again.

He got out of the car and hoped she really was happy. Because that was the most important thing for him. There was nothing that he wouldn't sacrifice in order to make her happy.

When they got back to the others they briefed them about what they had found out. Jinny and Magda in return told them about their interviewing Ray and Frederico's sister and about the accusations she had made. Then they saw Spivey walk out of his office and all suddenly had somewhere very important to go so by the time he reached the bullpen it was nearly vacant.

CD and Nate had gotten on the elevator and drove down again. They got out in the lobby. "You know we never did have that talk." Nate spoke up and looked over to her.

CD looked back at him. "Let's grab some lunch." She said and walked outside and passed Raina but didn't pay much attention to the fact that she apparently had a new admirer.

They went to the little park at Alamo Square and now were sitting on top of a picnic table facing the popular Victorian houses with San Francisco's skyline in the background, which was a popular image for many postcards. But the reason why they were there was becaus they had neded a quiet place to talk. "It's weird, isn't it?" Nate was the first to speak up again.

"Yah." CD said, still feeling a little uncomfortable in her own skin but looked away from te houses and over to him now.

"I just had this conversation with you in my head about a million times and never actually saying it." But he was glad that finally they were talking.

"Say it." She was slightly scared. Mostly because she knew exactly what she wanted but at the same time knew damn well that she shouldn't want that.

Nate knew exactly what to say. Hed had been lying awake every night, thinking about it, thinking about her. "You know I'm closer to you than anyone on this planet. You realize that?"

CD just listened and looked at him. It felt so good to hear him say those words. She slightly nodded because it was the same way she felt about him.

He took a deep breath and continued. "I mean when something happens, anything, when it's raining or..." he thought for a moment "...not raining."

She broadly smiled at that and he smiled himself. "... you're the one I wanna call." He continued and again she nodded a little. "You're who I wanna share everything with." He looked at her intensely.

She nooded yet again and looked down because no matter how badly she longed to hear him say this and longed to just hold him, she knew what a risk it was. "Nate."

But he stopped her from saying something else. He knew wat was going through her head but didn't want to hear it. "Hey, and don't tell me all the reasons against it, that we're partners, that we're friends, that it's too risky. I don't care." He was fully aware of that himself, but he had made up his mind.

"You have to. We both do. I'm..." She slightly shook her head. "I'm scared to death." She admitted. "I'm scared of losing this, of losing our partnership." They'd be in trouble if anybody caught them and he was the closest friend and best partner she ever had. She never had anybody at all allowed to get so close to her but knew she needed him like that and she couldn't stand to lose him if it wouldn't work out between them.

"I think it's worth the risk." Nate had thought about it so much himself. But they were so perfect as partners and friends and he couldn't believe that it wouldn't work out between them. They would gain so much if they only allowed themselves to take this step.

She looked at him for a long moment and then turned aside, looking back at the houses again, but actually staring at nothing, her hands folded and resting her chin against them and shook her head.

Nate knew that she was upset now and that was the last thing he wanted but they really needed to talk about this. And he hoped she would stop to think about possible consequences and start to listen to her heart. "Hey." He wrapped his hands around her wrist and looked at her, so badly wanting to know what was going through her mind now.

"When I saw you with the gun to your head..." She paused and tried to get that image out of her mind again. Never in her life had she been so scared before. "... I thought for sure you were dead and I couldn't imagine my life without you." She looked back at him again and put her hands back down. She needed him so much and that scared her too.

He looked back at her, now understanding. He was glad she had told him and he didn't even want to imagine how he'd feel if he had to watch somebody wanting to kill her, the most precious thing in his life.

"I've had a lot of hurt in my life and..." She swallowed and looked down again. "...mostly because of..." It was still hard for her to bring that up, especially now. But she was glad that Nate knew what she meant and that she had been able to tell him. "... because of the men in it. And then..." She paused again and looked at him and started to smile. "You came along and I felt safe." That was one of the feelings she hadn't known before he had stepped into her life.

He was so glad to hear her admit that. Glad that he could make her feel safe.

"I know that you care about me." She looked aside for a moment before looking back at him and deep into his eyes. "And I care about you too." She started to smile again and that smile broadened even more as she spoke. "And I wake up in the morning so..." Again she looked aside for a moment, still unable to believe that because of him she finally knew the real feeling behind the word, "...happy," She turned her head again but looked down for another moment before looking back at him again with a big smile. "when I know I'm gonna see you. But I don't..."

As he heard that and saw her smiling so broadly Nate knew what she felt. He only had to look into her eyes to know that deep inside she wanted the same he did and he didn't want her to get doubts again. He leaned over and cut her off with a kiss.

At that moment she knew that he was right. They had so much to gain and she needed to allow herself to have that happiness in her life that she longed for so badly. She responded to the kiss, their lips lingering on each other before they deepened the kiss and wrapped their arms around each other, wanting to be as close to one another as possible and never wanting this moment to end. They couldn't get enough of each other and while they both had one arm still slung around the other one they started to caress each other's cheeks, needing to come up for air for a moment they pulled back slightly, their foreheads resting against each other. Nate opened his eyes for a moment, still not quite able to believe that this was true. That the one he loved felt the same for him. That CD really was his now. CD had similar thoughts and before they both realized it they had resumed kissing again, still wanting even more they continued to deepen the kiss, exploring each other's mouths hungrily.

Acting on impulse Nate lowered CD to the table and roamed his hands all over her as he laid down on top of her, not breaking the kiss though. CD caressed through his hair and slipped her other hand under his jacket, completely forgetting all about work because he made her feel so incredible. They had to pull back for air again and Nate kissed all along her jawline as she slightly started to nibble on his earlobe before their lips found each other again and their tongues started to dance together again.

"Hey get a room! This is a public park, you don't wanna get arrested there, huh?" The male voice in front of them made them pull back again and look up.

A man had walked up to the table and his dog was barking as he started to laugh at their puzzled faces. "Go home guys, really." He said and then walked away again, throwing a ball that the dog ran after right away.

CD and Nate looked at each other still stunned and then smiled and chuckled themselves. Nate got up again and held his hand out to her, helping her up too. She smiled at him and now standing they hugged each other tightly and couldn't resist to share another passionate kiss. Arm in arm they walked back to the car, both happy like they'd never been before.

AWWWWWWWWWW! That was great!!!!

I wanna go back to my own place. *sniff* but anyhow...

Meanwhile back at the station Spivey hade made himself comfortable at Kate's desk again and was looking at the screen of his laptop when suddenly he jumped up and gasped in shock and then ran outside and looked around, seeing taht annoying black woman at her desk. "YOU!" He pointed at her. "In my office!" He stormed back inside.

"That's still KATE's office." Raina muttered. As if having Johnny hot on her wasn't bad enough already now Spivey was annoying her too. But she obeyed and followed him inside.

He was sitting at his desk again and frantically pointed at his laptop. "Here! HERE! What do you see here?" He yelled.

"It's called laptop sir. Or notebook. Basically it's a computer that you can carry around." She said snappily.

He glared at her. "I'M NOT JOKING! LOOK AT THIS!"

She walked around his desk and her eyes widened as she saw what he meant. She had to grin immediately.

"What do you see there now?" He asked a slight bit more calm again.

"Uhhh a webcam?" She guessed.

His face started to get red and he quietly counted til ten, wondering how stupid this woman was. "And HERE? What do you see HERE?" He pointed at a spot on the screen.

"The Trans Am Pyramid." She said even though she knew damn well what he meant. "I think my phone just rang..." With that she quickly hurried out of the office and switched on her own computer. "omigodohmigodohmigod!" She squeaked like a mouse and clapped her hands.

At that moment Jinny and Magda walked in and Jinny gave Magda a look. "She lost it." She muttered.

But Magda hurried over to her as Raina waved at them to come over. "What Raina, what?" She asked.

"Oh my god guys you won't believe this!" Raina said as now Jinny walked over too.

"Believe what?" Jinny asked, she wanted to solve the case and not be annoyed by Raina.

"THIS!" Raina showed them what she had seen in Spivey's office earlier.

"Oh my god!!! I can't believe that!" Magda stared at the screen.

Jinny laughed. "Somebody needs a bed there." She grinned at Magda who didn't look amused at all. "How the hell did you find that?" She asked.

"Well actually he did." Raina motioned over at Spivey's office. "Seems like apart from his bonsai he has another hobby: Watching webcams." Then she gasped in shock as what she now saw on the screen. "Oh god! They aren't gonna...?"

"They better not! I can't believe they're doing that... there!" Magda agreed.

"Oh come on guys, I'm sure they have no clue about that cam and they won't do it in public. But with Spivey having seen that they have a huge problem. So do we by the way because we still have three killers on the run." Even though she was happy for them what she wanted right now was to get her brother's murderer. That reminded everybody to go back to work.

A while later CD and Nate pulled up at the station again. They hadn't said anything else yet but it was a comfortable silence, both of them lost in thoughts about what was going on between them now. Nate stopped the engine and CD wanted to get out. "Hey." He gently put his hand on her arm.

She turned and smiled at him. "Hey."

"We... we're cool, right?" He mumbled, scared she might change her mind or something.

"More than cool." She said and then slightly frowned. "I think... Are we?"

"Of course." He smiled broadly and cupped her cheek, gently caressing it and leaning closer to her.

"Good." She whispered and closed the little distance between them, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"Very good." He whispered and claimed her mouth with his own again.

As things started to heat up again CD pulled back, remembering where they were. "We... we better go up again."

"Yeah we better." He agreed as she got out of the car and he followed her.

When they were in the elevator alone he slipped his hand into the pocket of her blue coat and entertwined his fingers with her own. She smiled and gave him a quick peck on the lips before the elevator stopped on the sixth floor and they walked out. As they approached the double doors of the Felony Division he knew he had to let go of her hand again and didn't quite know what to do with his hands now while CD couldn't stop smiling.

"Where have you guys been?" Raina asked as she saw them walk back inside.

"Lunch." Nate replied and CD tried not to grin too much because of that. That had been one helluva 'lunch'. "Why, what's up?" He asked innocently, sitting down on CD's desk.

Raina started to fill them in on what she had found out about Gina from her uncle. But she was interrupted by a delivery guy. Everybody was surprised at that little red Cartier bag that she had gotten. CD and Nate grinned at each other because apparently their relationship wasn't the only one that was starting to heat up. But Raina didn't accept the gift even though she felt flattered and actually liked it a lot. But she had more classe than that. Puzzled the delivery guy left again.

Magda still was in Kate's office with Spivey so Jinny used the opportunity to talk to her collgues and friends and basically told them that she didn't give a damn about Spivey's orders and wanted to be there when they'd get her brother's killer and also asked them to keep Magda out of it. Neither CD nor Nate were surprised about her request. They'd probably want to do the same thing. Raina wasn't quite sue what to think about it yet though. On the one hand Jinny was her friend but on the other hand orders were orders. But then again no one seemed to care about them as long as they came out of Spivey's mouth. Unfortunately though Magda walked out of the office again to overhear the last part of that. And knowing Jinny well enough, she knew exactly what she wanted. But unlike the others she couldn't understand her so she gave her a sermon and reminded her that not only Jinny's career but also her own were on the line. But Jinny made clear that she wouldn't just sit at her desk doing nothing.

Thinking that it was about time to change the topic and not able to keep quiet about this anymore Raina piped up again. "By the way..." She walked over to CD's desk. "Did you guys know there are plenty of webcams in this city?"

"There are plenty of webcams everywhere Raina." Nate said and got up walking over to CD's desk too and leaned against it.

"Yeah. What's the point? Did Ray and friends decide to show off online or what?" CD asked, not seeing the point either.

Jinny started to grin at that and Magda tried hard not to laugh. She decided to help Raina and jumped into the grilling of their friends. "Not them." She smirked.

"But it's pretty interesting what you can see on these things sometimes." Jinny added with a smirk.

CD looked at them rather puzzled and got up. "Why? What are you talking about?"

"Public webcams." Raina grinned. "At public places..."

"Ah." CD said and nodded, still not getting it but she figured if it was important they'd explain further.

"Any idea where they have those cams around here?" Jinny kept on smirking at them.

"Tourist attractions I guess. I mean that's the main reason for those, right?" Nate shrugged.

"True." Magda nodded. "And tourist attractions like...?" She looked at them questioningly.

"The Golden Gate bridge, Alcatraz?" He shrugged.

"Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf, the cable cars somewhere?" CD added.

Raina nodded. "There are a lot more though. Sausalito, Union Street, Chinatown, SOMA, the Castro... Alamo square..."

CD and Nate looked at each other slightly annoyed as Raina listed everything. But that look changed into slight shock when she added Alamo square like that.

"Alamo square too eh?" Nate asked.

"Uh huh." Jinny grinned as now she and Magda cornered them too. "And like I said, I mean I had no idea that sometimes you even get to see interesting stuff there."

"You talking about anything in particular?" CD glared at her.

Jinny shrugged and just kept on smirking. "Why don't you tell me?" Then she looked at Nate. "Or you."

CD just gave her another look and then looked over at Raina. "Hey, maybe you should drop by at Kate's and let her know what else we found out. She wants to stay informed and I think we definitely need the help. So fill her in on everything."

"On everything?" Raina smirked.

"What's that supposed to mean again?" Nate was getting more and more annoyed himself but by now was pretty sure about what they had seen.

"Oh come on!" Raina grinned broadly. "You know what we mean! You two are BUSTED! Big time."

"Yeah, hot show there." Jinny nodded.

Nate ran his hand through his hair, not knowing what to say now. "Uh well..."

"Didn't you want to go somewhere?" CD grinned at Jinny. "Research or how was that?"

Jinny nodded but pointed at them. "This conversation isn't over yet." The she turned to Mag. "So you coming now or what?"

Growling Magda followed her. "Bad idea Jinny. Really bad!"

Then CD looked at Raina who gathered some folders and the tape. "On my way. I'll tell Kate you said hi." With that she hurried off too.

Nate looked at CD with raised eyebrows. She sighed and motioned towards the doors. He nodded and they walked up to the vending machines. CD leaned against the 'Cold Drinks' machine that was out of order at the moment.

"I guess they know." He said.

She nodded. "Seems like it."

"So what now?" He prayed she wouldn't have second thoughts now.

CD frowned and looked past him. "What the fu*k?" She muttered upon what she saw there. Or rather because of who she saw walking up to them followed by what seemed to be a guard of uniformed officers.

Nate turned around and even though the little group looked rather funny he didn't recognize the woman in their midst.

"Basso and DeLorenzo!" Hearing Spivey's voice next to them they both turned around. "I found out everything!" He said angrily. "And I have proof! So I'm arresting you now."

"What? Arresting us, is that supposed to be a joke?" CD glared at him.

But he just crossed his arms and nodded of the woman who was his aid when it came to situations like this. They had often worked together before but he had thought he wouldn't need her on this assignment. But now that he did she had come right away, together with some not biased officers. "Inspector Reide."

"Angela what are you doing here?" CD asked her, surprised to see her again.

"I always knew you'd screw up big time one day." She replied with a grin and reached for her arms. "I'm here to arrest you for..."

"Hey get your hands off me!" CD yanked her arms back and glared at her ex-partner. "What kind of sick joke is this, eh?"

"No joke." Angela nodded at one of the men. "She resisted arrest."

At that two of the officers grabbed her hard and slammed her against the machine and cuffed her.

"Hey get your hands off her!" Nate wanted to help her but then the other two officers did the same to him.

Smugly grinning Spivey grinned at Angela. He was glad he had gotten rid of these two troublemakers. "Thank you Inspector Reide."

"Who is she?" Nate hissed to CD.

"My ex-partner. Angela Reide." She told him.

"I'd say 'nice to meet you'." He addressed the black woman now. "But I already can't stand you."

"She has that effect." CD muttered but was certain that Angela and her new friend Spivey weren't going to be the last ones standing in this. Even though they had given a damn about the rules, just because they had kissed they had no reason to arrest them. But right now they would only make things worse if they fought back further. They had to wait for their moment so they were led down to the holding cells.

Once Spivey and the others were gone again the officer in charge walked up to the cell with CD and Nate in it. "I'm so sorry. I wish I could do something..."

CD nodded. "Don't worry, it's not your fault. But I'd like to make my phonecall."

He nodded and unlocked the cell and led CD out and over to a payphone.

Kate sighed because Louis couldn't understand that she wanted to help Jinny. But she knew her and she knew this smelled like trouble because of Spivey's orders. Suddenly the phone started to ring. Louis answered it and handed it to Kate. "CD." He said with a small glare.

"CD, what's up?" Kate returned the glare.

"Did you know Angela Reide is working for Spivey now or something?" At that moment she saw Spivey walk back in and knew she'd better make it fast now. "But anyhow, Kate, we need your help, please come to the station."

And she had been right. Spivey took the receiver from her, slammed it down and roughly shoved her back into the cell again. He knew that now that she had called up Kate he would have to fight harder to get through with this, but he was certain that he could win. "I just wanted to let you know that Inspector Reide gathered even more evidence." He smirked. "I only say hospital surveillance camera."

"What?" CD jumped up. "I don't believe this!" She slammed her hands against the bars. "You lousy son of a bitch! I swear that whatever you're planning here, you're gonna be the one to lose!"

"If I were you I'd watch my mouth." He smugly grinned at her once more before walking away again.

CD growled and glared after him.

"Hey shhh." Nate got up and walked up to her and stroked over her back.

"Don't 'shh' me!" She turned around. "In case you haven't noticed yet we just got arrested because we kissed!"

"That's my point. I mean the whole thing is hilarious! We might be in trouble, but this doesn't rectify arrestment!" He hugged her. "You'll see. We're out of here again soon."

"I hope so." She hugged him back.

He kissed her temple and led her over to the bench again. She sat down next to him and leaned her head on his shoulder, their hands still entertwined.

At that moment Kate arrived at the station and walked up to Jinny and Magda, who had just heard about what had happened while they were gone. "Where is CD?" She asked because she couldn't see her anywhere.

"CD and Nate are down at the holding cells." Magda answered.

"Who'd they catch?" Kate assumed this was about the escapees.

"No, you don't understand." Jinny said sounding pissed. "Spivey had them arrested."

Kate blinked as that settled in. "Come again?"

Raina walked up to them. "Oh my god, is it true? I just heard from Berry, he heard from Robert and Robert knows from..."

But Jinny cut her off and turned to Kate again. "Tell us he can't do that!"

Kate nodded. "Would anybody please tell me exactly what happened?"

"No one was here." Magda said.

"Alright, I'll see what I can do." Kate said. "I need to know why. Don't worry for now, it's important that you don't forget about the case now." She then walked into the office. Spivey wasn't there but she picked up the file and immediately had to laugh and shake her head as she saw why he had seen an immediate danger in CD and Nate.

Carrying that file in one hand she then made her way down and walked up to CD and Nate who had been led into an interrogation room. She sat down opposite to them and put the file on the table in front of her. She looked at them. "And here I thought I've already seen it all..." She couldn't help but tease them a little. "So how does it feel? Having been arrested?"

CD gave her a look. "Come on! This isn't funny! This damn bonsai bastard crossed the line and he knows it! He can't just arrest us for whatever reason!" She was pissed off.

"Hey hey calm down, I'm on your side." Kate reminded her.

"And I hope you're here to tell us we can go again." Nate said. "I mean first of all he never even told us why he arrested us, he never read us our rights, and you can add police brutality!" What pissed him off the most was they way they had slammed CD against that soda machine.

Kate raised her eyebrow at that. "Don't overdo it there. You two did resist arrest and according to this there are plenty of witnesses for that." She looked at the file again.

"Would you mind telling us why, according to that..." CD motioned at the file. "... we got arrested in the first place?"

"Apart from the resisting arrest part there's indecent behavior and disordely conduct." She smiled over at them. "Care to exlplain that? And he had evidences listed here. One webcam video and one hospital surveillance tape. And a surveillance tape from the parking lot here. So since when is this going on already?" There had always been rumors about them but Kate never believed that.

"Nothing's 'going on'!" CD said right away.

"Come on CD!" Kate looked at her and Nate looked hurt at her words.

CD took a deep breath and realized what that had sounded like. She reached for Nate's hand and squeezed it. "It's just... look we kissed exactly three times. That's all that's been happening."

Nate was glad that she wasn't denying it after all and smiled again.

"Exactly three times, eh?" Kate had to laugh slightly. "And every time on camera. Good rate."

"Now are you done with being amused about us?" She growled.

"I'm not amused about you, I'm happy for you. Seriously." Kate smiled at them.

"Happy because we're in jail?" Nate grinned.

She gave him a look. "You know what I mean."

"That's all?" CD frowned. "No sermon? Because we're partners and we shouldn't have a realationship that goes beyond the professional level?"

Kate smiled at her. "Apparently you're aware of that yourselves. Besides I'm here as a friend. I'm not your Captain at the moment." She knew that if she was right now she had to seperate them much likely. "Alright, so back to the accusations here. Indecent exposure and disorderly conduct."

"Okay, I can understand disorderly conduct." CD said. "I mean even though I really don't see a reason because we just kissed! But neither of us exposed anything!"

Nate nodded. "Unfortunately." He winked at her.

"Hey!" She elbowed him into the side.

"Ouch." He slightly rubbed that spot.

Kate smiled and looked through the file again. "The worst thing here though is solicitation for CD."

"WHAT?" They both asked in disbelief at that.

"Apparently Captain Spivey thinks you offered your services in exchange for money. According to the report Inspector Reide is still looking for witnesses." Kate didn't believe that at all.

"I swear I'm gonna kill him." CD muttered. "Death by choking on his bonsai tree."

"I'll help." Nate hissed. "Who does he think he is?"

"Your Captain who is worried about the reputation of his Division. Like I would be too." She pointed out.

"But you wouldn't live out your unfulfilled perverted fantasies by accusing your inspectors for ridiculous things!" CD objected.

"Alright, alright, now calm down again. I'm going to talk to him now. Give me about twenty minutes and then I'll be back to get you out of here again." She got up left them behind again. She couldn't believe any of this.

Furious she stormed into her office, as far as that was possible with her crutch. "What the hell were you doing?" She yelled at him before he even had the chance to say 'hello'.

"What? What are you talking about?" He stuttered and got up. "Why don't you take a seat and tell me what's wrong?"

"I'm talking about the fact that during a major case with high press coverage you have one of your Inspectors riding the desk and two others in a holding cell. That is absolutely uncalled for!" She glared at him and slammed the reprot down in front of him.

"Inspector Extend is on desk duty because her husband was shot by one of the escapees. And Inspectors Dasso and Lorenz commited crimes and I have enough evidences for that!" He got up and looked sternly.

Kate took a deep breath before calmly replying: "Exstead, brother, Basso, DeLorenzo and no."

Puzzled he looked at her. "What?"

"Inspector Exstead's brother was killed by Ray Sanchez. And as for Inspectors Basso and DeLorenzo, whatever you think you have as evidences won't help you because when they got arrested no one mirandized them, nor did they get informed about what they were arrested for." She glared at him threateningly. "Let alone do you have any witnesses or evidences to support the accusations!"

He knew she had a point. "Well then I need to talk to Inspector Reide again. She's the one who..."

"Spare me the details." Kate muttered. She knew exactly that now Angela would be fed to the lions instead of Spivey himself. But that was her own fault. When she had still worked under her command she had given her more chances than she deserved. But she decided to play for the wrong guys, so now she wouldn't be able to help her anymore. Besides she had screwed up. She pointed her forefinger right into his face. "One more thing, if I hear about anything even close to this again I'm going to make sure you won't be in command of as much as an ant farm after that anymore! Now you better get down and apaologize to Inspectors BASSO and DELORENZO and hope they won't hold a grudge against you."

"Is that a threat Kate?" He was sweating already.

"Let's call it a friendly tip." She said and sat down. "I'll be waiting for you and the two Inspectors to come back here again."

He knew he'd better move it. He hadn't won yet and until Kate had signed her retirement papers he had to give in to her because he wanted to win.

He made his way to the holding cells and told the officer there to release the Inspectors again. They walked up to him and immediately knew that whatever Kate had told him, it hadn't been pleasant. He looked at CD. "Inspector Basso and Inspector DeLorenzo." He looked over at Nate then. "I have to apologize for this incredible misunderstanding. Of course Inspector Reide will face consequences for her mistake. Now get back on the streets and solve that case! I want these guys behind bars!" With that he left again to do as much damage control as possible before Angela would blame him for anything.

As he walked away both CD and Nate burst out laughing and quickly hugged each other. "Come on partner." Nate said and wrapped his arm around her as they walked to the elevator and drove back to the sixth floor again.

Everybody applauded as they walked back inside again, glad to have them back. Kate smiled at them. "I hope he apologized."

CD nodded. "Yes he did... though he called me Inspector Basso and him DeLorenzo."

Kate rolled her eyes and shook her head. "Wonder if he'll ever learn anybody's name here... But if you don't need me anymore, I really have to get back to Louis. I promised not to stay longer than I'm neccessarily needed."

They nodded. "Thanks Kate." CD hugged her.

"For everything." Nate added.

She smiled. "No problem. Just... do me a favor and avoid surveillance cameras, okay?" Chuckling she walked out again.

"Or webcams." Raina added with a smirk.

CD rolled her eyes. "Are we ever going to live this up?" She muttered.

"No way." Magda laughed. "I mean not if you keep up getting filmed."

Jinny laughed. "But if you feel like giving us a live-show..."

Nate had enough of it too and figured that maybe this called for an offensive approach so he spun CD around, leaned her down over his arm and leaned down himself and kissed her like there was no tomorrow.

Completely taken by surprise CD couldn't help but return the kiss eagerly.

When they finally broke the kiss Nate pulled her up again and looked at Jinny, who like the others as well had been cheering them on, but now was giving them the same perplexed look like everybody else too. "How's that for a live-show, Jinny, huh?" He smirked at her and then at CD who was still stunned and just blinked a few times.

Jinny was about to reply when she saw Spivey walk in. "Oh Mag, didn't we wanna go to... ya know?"

Magda frowned. "No clue."

"Magda!" She gave her a look like 'let's just get out of here'.

"Ooooh! I remember! Yeah, let's go." The two walked out but not before glaring at Spivey who walked in. And since everybody was glaring at him he quickly hurried back into the safety of his office and started to clip his bonsai.

"I need to call her and ask he why she didn't tell me! You think they broke up because of CD?" She got out her cellphone.

Jinny gave her a another look. "Hello? Magda, where are you living? They had the hots for each other ever since! It was only a matter of time, and personally I'm happy for them."

"But not so long ago CD told me she wasn't interested." Magda shrugged.

Jinny shook her head and walked out at the lobby. "You want a coffee too?"

Magda nodded and then started to talk Spanish into her phone and walked over to the window for some privacy.

Jinny got their coffees and then walked over to Magda again and handed her hers just as she hung up again. "And?"

"First of all, not Lily picked up, but Juan, who apparently is her new boyfriend, he told me he's been seeing her for two months already. Then Lily came on the phone and told me she didn't care and Nate wasn't quite what she had expected anyways." She shrugged and took a sip of her coffee.

Jinny shook her head in disbelief. "So Lily had been cheating on Nate already?"

Magda shrugged again. "I have no clue what's going on! Now what do you care about Lily and Nate. Better tell me about you and Jack."

She growled at that. "I already told you. We're getting a divorce. I already called Brian Lewis and I'll meet him next week."

"What? Who is Brian Lewis? You already have a new guy?" Magda asked curiously.

"Brian Lewis... CD's ex... divorce lawyer, remember?" She reminded her.

"Oooh yeah, the one who charges horizontally." She took another sip of her coffee.

"They had a serious relationship and broke up again, alright?" Jinny growled. "So let's talk about you. You and Jonah, you and Gabe... get the point?"

"What's that supposed to mean?" She glared at her.

"That's supposed to mean that you can't go on like this forever! Magda, please, I don't know you anymore lately. What happened to my sensible soccer mom partner, huh?" Jinny wondered just when Magda had started to change so much.

"So I care about myself! What's wrong with that huh? And you must talk! You've been through half of the beds in this city already!" She raised her voice.

"Yeah and I changed too! But for the better!" Jinny had enough of it too now.

"That remains to be seen." Magda tossed the coffee into a trashcan and walked back to the elevator.

"Bite me." Jinny muttered and her coffee followed Magda's. On the way up they remained silent.

That was great. I personally don't like it when Jinny and Magda fight, but they always make up in the end. This is GREAT! Post more soon!

When they got out again Jinny was the first one to speak up after taking a breath. "Look Mag, I'm sorry. I guess with this case and everything lately we're both stressed. How about we forget about all of that crap and concentrate on getting those guys for now, huh?"

Magda nodded. "Probably a good idea."

They walked back into the bullpen to see how CD and Nate were heading out. "Hey." Jinny said looking at them.

"Where are you guys going?" Magda asked.

"To see Norman, the car thief guy." Nate answered. "He said Ray called and said he needed another car."

"You believe him?" Jinny askes suspiciously.

"We'll see. We'll meet him downstairs at the Anchorside." CD said as they walked out.

Jinny thought for a second. "Eh, you know Mag, I was thinking, we should re-read the canvas notes from North Beach."

"Alright, I'll pull em out." Magda said, not suspecting anything and left to do that. Jinny watched after her and thought about what she wanted to do for a moment and if she should do it. But the opportunity was perfect so she walked out.

Nate and CD meanwhile were on their way to the Anchorside. He smiled at her and reached for her hand when they were in the elevator alone. "So I guess it's official now, eh?"

"Huh? What?" She looked at him.

"You know what I mean. You and me, and this thing." He grinned broadly.

"Me and you and this thing." She repeated dryly still looking at him questioningly.

"That we're... ya know... together. I mean, that's what we are now, right?" He squeezed her hand.

She smiled and looked at their entertwined hands. "Looks like it." Then she let go of his hand again as the elevatordoors opened.

She walked out and Nate was completely puzzled again and like after the first kiss wasn't sure what to think now. When they had talked it had felt so real and so deep, but in moments like this he was scared that maybe she was just playing with him somehow. But then again that wouldn't be like CD. Lost in thoughts he followed her into the Anchorside and they sat down at the bar. He noticed how she ordered something and just mumbled "Same."

Then he took a deep breath because he knew he had to focus on the job right now. He turned around but no Norman in sight. "Where is he?" He asked CD.

"Well he's afraid. Of course he's late." CD answered to calm him down. She just wished she could believe her own words. "What is it?" That he was nervous made her even more nervous.

"I have a bad feeling about this." Something just didn't feel right to him.

At that moment Jinny walked up to them. "Norman a no-show?

Suddenly they heard screeching tires and turned around to the window to see a car pulling up. "What's this?" Nate asked. Their bad feelings just increased as they kept on watching the car. CD got up from the barstool and yelled "Get down!" Soon after that the first bullet shattered the window.

Everybody ducked right away and the customers started to scream in panic. "Keep your heads down, move out." CD called out while another bullet shattered the next window. Nate managed to jump behind the bar just in time.

People started to scream even more. "Move it! Move out through the kitchen!" CD ordered as she took cover behind a table that she turned around. After that everything started to get real crazy. Bullets flew therew the air, destroying about everything in the little restaurant. Both Ray and his friends as well as CD, Nate and Jinny continued to shoot until they had no bullets left. What they didn't see though was that Liz Rue, the Marshall managed to shoot Gary as the others drove off again, leaving him behind dead.

As they saw the car drive off Nate came out from behind the bar and walked up to CD, quickly making sure she was okay he looked at her, while she gave him the same look, glad that once again they had lucked out. Jinny made her way to one of the broken windows and looked outside, but the car was gone already and everything around them was in shatters. It was a wonder that no one had gotten hit.

Watching out of the windows they all just realized they were gone now. Nate and CD looked at each other and then just fell into each other's arms, holding onto one another tightly.

"CD 5 80" Jinny said and then repeated it. "CD 5 80"

CD frowned at that and turned around, giving her a perplexed look. "Excuse me, what?"

"CD 5 80." Jinny said again and then realized. "Not you! The plate. CD 5 80, I couldn't recognize it all, but that was the last part."

"That's great. Let's go." CD said, finally letting go of Nate again completely.

They rushed back to the station and while Nate filled everybody in on what had happened Jinny started to run the plate and CD not giving a damn about Spivey in the office started to give orders to officers and made sure everybody had the part of the plate. She sent more patrol cars out, hoping they'd get them somehow.

Finally Spivey noticed the commotion and got up and started to walk to the door of the office. Raina saw him first and whistled with two fingers. "Bonsai rising!" She called out and everybody sat down at their desks and shuffled through paperwork, looking bored.

He frowned at the sight in front of him "What's going on here?"

"Nothing" They said in unision.

He grinned, thinking that finally they were paying him the respect he deserved and that he had just interrupted them doing foolish not work-related stuff. Content and happy with himself he retreated back into his office again.

"What a dork." Raina muttered and everybody had to chuckle.

Suddenly Spivey walked out of his office again. "I thought your shift is over, what are you all still doing here?"

"Oh don't you remember? You wanted our reports at the end of the shift, not the next day. We're working on that." CD said.

"Good. Very well. Put them into my office, I'll read them tomorrow." With the he left.

"I'll read them tomorrow?!?" Jinny mocked him. "That SOB needs his ass kicked!"

"What else is new?" Nate replied.

CD nodded. "He is right though. Shift is over, we've done everything we could. So go home guys. It's late already and we have another long one ahead of us tomorrow, so get some sleep."

"Yeah really. Gabe's worried already I bet." Mag said and grabbed her coat. "Cya tomorrow." She left and contemplated stopping by Jonah's quickly. But she really was tired.

"Hey Mag, could you stop by Kate's tomorrow morning before you come in?" CD asked her. "Analyze the information we gathered about our threesome today together with her. I mean you two know how it is to have a child, if anybody can see something we might have overlooked there it's you and Kate." CD handed her the files.

Magda nodded. "I will. Goodnight." With that she left.

"Is there anything else I can do?" Raina asked.

"No, go home Raina, get some sleep, relax a little." Jinny squeezed her shoulder. "You did great today."

She sighed. "I just wish I could have done more. And I hope I get the stuff from Gina's uncle soon."

"Stop thinking about it for today Raina. Go home." Jinny said again. "And sleep."

"Okay. I will. I'll see you tomorrow guys." She waved at them and left.

CD, Nate and Jinny were the only ones left now apart from the officers on night duty. The three looked at each other until Jinny spoke up. "Alright, let's get real. I'm not going anywhere and neither are you." She looked straight at CD. She knew her well enough. "And even if he might get convinced to go, he'd never leave without you. So what are we gonna do next?"

"Damn straight." Nate looked at CD and then at Jin.

CD smiled and slightly shook her head. "Let's see. I'm afriad there really isn't much we can do right now. We should at least take a break. How about dinner and some coffee?"

"You gonna suggest Anchorside?" Nate cracked.

The two women gave him a look but then all of them burst out laughing, not because it had been so damn funny, because they all knew it wasn't. But they needed to release the tension somewhat and a good laugh was the perfect remedy for that.

After they laughed so hard it brought tears to their eyes, it was okay again though and they stopped, all taking a few deep breaths. "So where do we go?" Nate asked.

"Out of here for a start." Jinny said and headed out of the double doors, leaving the felony division behind.

Nate looked at CD who shrugged. "Out of here." She repeated and they followed Jinny.

In the elevator Jinny started to feel a little uncomfortable with them. She knew they probably just wanted to fall into each others arms right now and if not do it right then and there at least kiss like it was the world's end. But John jr's killer was still out there and she couldn't just go home now, knowing that.

CD and Nate looked at each other and he wrapped his arm around her. They walked out of the elevator and seeing them arm in arm just made Jinny look even more sad. The couple exchanged a quick glance and then Nate grinned at Jinny and wrapped his other arm around her. "Dinner is on me ladies."

"Don't we feel like a pimp tonight?" Jinny chuckled but was actually glad to be able to relax with them for a while now.

"Ohhh hell yeah. You two have no idea what I have in mind for you tonight." He laughed and both CD and Jinny playfully slapped his chest with their free hands. "Ouch!" He pouted and they all laughed again as they walked around the corner.

Gasping as he saw that Spivey watched after them. He had parked his car in front of the station and wondered why it was no more than a pile of shatters now. While he was on the phone, desperately trying to find out what had happened he saw the three Inspectors walk out and around the corner. "Damn these whores!" He muttered. He had known it all along. These women meant nothing but trouble! Then his attention was turned back to his phone where he now desperately had to try to explain the woman on the other end of the line that he hadn't just called her a whore.

The three walked around for a while but soon had to realize that everything at least halfway decent was closed already by now. "That much for our dinner plans." Nate sighed.

"We could still grab something from the machine?" Jinny suggested but neither of them was too fond of that idea.

"I guess that's the only option..." CD sighed but then had an idea. "Unless..."

"Unless what?" Both Jinny and Nate said at the same time.

"They only shot up the front of the Anchorside. Crime scene should be done by now too. We can see what's eft in the kitchen." She said.

"Sounds good." Nate said.

"Yeah let's go. I'm starving." Jinny agreed and they made their way back to their hangout. "I always loved this place." She sighed as they climbed in.

"Yeah me too." CD and Nate said making their way towards the back. Once they were in the kitchen they had to discover that while everybody stormed out through it they made quite some chaos too. But it wasn't half as bad like it was out front. There liquor bottles were broken, the windows were practically gone, tables and chairs where broken everywhere, pictures destroyed, food on the ground everywhere. Here it was just some overturned pots and pans, no serious damage.

"Alright let's see..." CD said and opened the huge fridge. Jinny and Nate walked up behind her and stared into the fridge.

"I want a cheeseburger, fries, and lots of that." He announced.

"Me too. With jalapenos. And not too much salt on the fries. And a side salad." Jinny announced afterwards.

CD looked at Nate, then at Jinny and then back into the fridge. "Okay, what century are you two from? This is a fridge not a robot cook. Are you expecting the burgers to run out of there now or what?"

"Don't look at me, you know I can't cook!" Nate raised his hands.

"Me neither." Jinny said.

"Meaning I have to do it" CD slightly rolled her eyes and they nodded. "Great... let's have pizza." She then said, seeing there was dough for it prepared.

"On second thought... forget the burger, how about pizza?" Nate asked with a grin.

"Pizza sounds perfect." Jinny nodded.

"You even get to help" She said after getting out the dough and tomato sauce. They poured everything they felt like on it and soon it was in the oven.

Jinny decided that was the perfect moment for giving them some privacy and excused herself. "I'll be right back." She said and went to the restrooms.

After she had left CD sat down on the ground, leaning against the now closed fridge. Nate sat down next to her and looked at her for a moment, glad that she was okay. "What a crazy day, huh?" He finally said after a while.

She nodded and turned and smiled at him. "It had a couple of nice moments though."

"Yeah a few." He smiled back at her and reached out to slightly stroke over her cheek with the side of his forefinger before cupping it gently. She leaned into his touch, glad that after such a horrible day a little touch like that could make her feel perfect again. She wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned her forehead against his. "Thank god you're okay." He whispered as they looked deep into each others eyes. "I was so scared you could get hit when the bullets started to fly." Swallowing he finally admitted that.

"Me too." She wrapped her arms around him even closer. Putting his hands on her waist he drew her as close as humanly possible and slowly his lips sought the soft solace of her own. What started out as a nuzzling of lips soon grew into more as they gave in to what they longed for so badly with not only their bodies and souls but also their hearts and minds.

They didn't even notice when Jinny returned. Smiling she leaned against the doorframe. She really was happy for them. They made a cute couple and certainly deserved the happiness in their lives. But seeing them so happy together just made her miss him even more. Once they had been as happy as CD and Nate now were. Just being in each others arms made the world a better place again and she wanted that back so badly. She had hoped to find that in Jack, but he had only made it worse because she didn't even find anything close to it in his arms. Suddenly she realized the pizza was done so letting them smooch around some more she got it out of the oven and then sat down next to them. "Pizza anybody?" She called out.

CD and Nate quickly seperated and gave her guilty puppy looks. "We... we were just..." CD stammered while Nate cleared his throat.

"All over each other." Jinny said and chuckled. "Don't worry about it."

"So, pizza eh?" Nate quickly changed the topic and grabbed a slice and digged in. Only now realizing just how hungry they had been, especially CD and Nate who had skipped lunch already, they devoured the pizza. CD and Nate started to feed each other somewhere between first and third slice and Jinny watched them amused. At least this was better than some mushy romance flick on TV.

They finished the pizza and then looked around. "We don't have to do the dishes, do we?" Nate asked.

Jinny shook her head. "Under these circumstances, nah."

"We should get back though and see if there's anything knew on CD 5 80." CD said and got up.

Nate and Jinny got up too and they all headed back to the Division. Checking with the officers there they heard that there was absolutely nothing new. But right after that had been said there was a call and they right away drove to where the car had been found. But of course it already was deserted. That frustrated them and CD slammed her hands on the trunk. "Dammit!"

At that something seemed to groan inside the trunk so she right away opened it to find Norman in there, beaten up and shot into his shoulder and thigh.
"Guys!" CD called out and Nate and Jinny rushed over.

Nate right away got his cellphone out and walked away from them a little, while CD and Jinny tried to stop the bleedings. "Who shot you Norman?" Jinny asked.

"Ray." He managed to mutter. "He made me steal another car first."

CD nodded, already having expected that. "Where are they now?"

He opened his mouth again but his eyes just stared at them emptily.

"NORMAN! WHERE ARE THEY?" Jinny yelled at him.

CD felt his pulse and looked over at Jinny and then at Nate and shook her head.

"Damn them!" Jinny yelled as the ambulance arrived.

The EMTs right away rushed over and got him out of the trunk and onto a stretcher. Jinny rode in the ambulance with them and saw how they managed to revive him again. But as soon as they were in the hospital he got rushed into surgery.

CD and Nate arrived a couple of moments later. "Anything?" CD asked Jinny.

"They revived him in the ambulance. He's in surgery now, the doctor said he'll let us know what's going on." She told them.

They sat down in the waiting area. "We're nowhere again!" Jinny called out frustrated. "All we do is sit around and run after every bone they throw us while they laugh at us!"

"We'll get them. They might think they're smart but they're not. They're greedy bastards and they made mistakes before. They'll make more mistakes." CD tried to assure her.

"How about some coffee, huh?" Nate asked and got up to get it.

"One of those greedy bastards happened to have killed my brother!" Jinny yelled and glared at CD. She wasn't mad at her but this was driving her up the walls.

"I know Jin, I know." CD hugged her. "And he's going to get what he deserves. But you need to stay cool and calm, okay?"

Jinny nodded, hugging her back. "Thanks CD."

"Don't mention it." She smiled at her.

A short while later Nate returned and handed the women their coffees. After taking a couple of sips the doctor walked up to them. "Inspectors?"

They got up and walked over to him.

"I'm sorry but he had lost too much blood. He didn't make it." He always hated it when he lost a patient.

"Damn them." CD muttered.

"Thank you doctor." Nate said and the doc walked away again.

They walked back outside again and quietly drove back to the station. "It's 5 am already." CD realized once they got there.

"Yeah." Nate had just checked his own watch. "How about we all go home for a while? Take a shower, rest a little and come back to the station then? There isn't anything else we can do now. We're nowhere." He hated to admit it but that was the bitter truth.

"Yeah." Jinny nodded. "We made some progress though."

"Yeah we did." CD agreed. "Try to get some rest Jin, okay?"

"I'll do my best." She said and then got out of the car and walked over to her own and headed home.

"And you follow your own advice." Nate looked at CD worried. "You seem tired."

"I'll be fine. A shower and some coffee... you know me." She assured him.

"Yeah I do." He stroked a strand of hair behind her ear. "I'll see you in a couple of hours then."

"Back here." She nodded.

He leaned over and gave her a rather innocent peck on the lips. "See you then."

"See ya." She smiled at him and gently squeezed his hand before she got out of the car as well and headed into the same direction as Jinny, to her own appartment on Green Street.

Nate watched after her and sighed before he as well, headed home for now.

While the three prepared to go back to work again Magda did what CD had suggested and talked about the escapees with Kate. But they couldn't see anymore than they already knew anyways. So they gave up on those file and started to talk about their personal lives.

In another part of town Johnny surprised Raina just when she had sat down for breakfast and wanted to look through the stuff from Gina's uncle. Even though she wasn't quite ready to admit it yet, Johnny had been right. He was growing on her.

Jinny was about to leave her appartment again when there was a knock at her door. She opened it to see both her father and Casey, already wearing his uniform. "Hey guys, come on in." She led them inside.

"How's it going? You didn't get him yet?" Her father asked, more than anxious to get revenge for his oldest son's death.

She sighed and shook her head. "We were close yesterday but they got away again."

"Dammit!" The gray haired man clenched his fist and slammed it on the kitchen counter. "Look Jinnygirl... you really need all the help you can get and I wouldn't mind..."

"DAD!" Casey interrupted him. "Not again! Please!"

He slightly glared at his youngest. "I am not some senile old stupid man! I am still your father and I am still one helluva cop!"

"Dad please." Jinny stepped in front of him. "Casey is right. Like it or not, you are retired. You suffered a heartattack one year ago and you really shouldn't play cowboys and indians anymore. Both Casey and me are out there and we're looking for Sanchez! John was our brother and we want to see that the SOB who killed him gets what he deserves as much as you do! So please stop it. I already told you I'm going to take care of it and I swear that one's a promise that I'm gonna keep."

"Fine." He muttered, having to admit that his daughter had a point. "But you tell me as soon as you know more!" He pointed at her.

Jinny nodded. "I promise."

"Good. I'll wait in the car." He said and walked out again, looking at his son.

Casey took a deep breath and looked at Jinny. "He's going crazy over this."

"WHAT? Casey, he was your brother too! Okay, fine, I admit it, he could be a jerk at times, but isn't it making you mad that somebody just shot him, just like that, as if his life wasn't worth a cent? Don't you want to get that bastard who did that to him?!?" She could understand her father, but she knew he couldn't just go out there, wanting revenge. He'd most likely just get himself killed then.

"Dammit Jinny! Of course I want that! I want to see him IN JAIL! Where he belongs. You have to admit that dad can't just dig out his old gun and chase after them like he's Clint Eastwood!" He argued.

"Of course not! Casey I'm on your side there. Did you even listen to what I told him?" She set her arms akimbo.

"Yes I listened. Closely as a matter of fact. And what I heard scares me. You can't just risk everything you just got back just because you want revenge for John's death! Promise me not to do anything stupid." He looked at her intensely, fear evident in his expression. "Jinny please. This isn't the wild west anymore."

She managed a small smile and hugged him. "I promise. Don't worry Case. You know me."

He hugged her back. "That's why I worry."

She gave him a look and together they left her apartment, both heading to work.

A little while later Magda, Jinny, CD and Nate and Liz, the Marshall, all were back at the Division again. They pretty much just had sat down at their desks when Spivey stormed out of his office and read from a newspaper with raised voice. He blamed them because Ray and Gina still were running free. Apart from that he was pissed because the night before they had told him they were finishing their reports but all he had found on his desk this morning were two notes. 'Anchorside: big shootout, Gary dead' and 'Norman found in car from Anchorside shootout, didn't survive injuries'. But the newspaper report troubled him even more because he also had a boss to answer to and that certainly wasn't something to help him with his ambition. And the answers those Inspectors were giving him right now didn't satisfy him at all either. He wondered what else he'd have to do to get their respect. They kept on dancing around on his head and slowly he statred to think that it didn't even make a difference if he was there or not. And now apart from the inspectors being a major pain in the ass that marshall had the nerve to tell him off. But not with him. He hadn't expected her to just walk out though. Under the dirty looks of the others he stormed back into his office and slammed the door shut behind him.

Raina meanwhile was still in the park and finally found the time to look through what Gina's uncle had sent her. One picture in particular caught her eye. She right away called Jinny and told her about her hunch.

Completely unaware of all of those recent events Kate was still lying in bed, reading some magazines. Suddenly Louis knocked on her door with a surprise in tow. Overjoyed by her daughter's return the two shared some quality time, reminiscing about the past and looking forward to the future.

Back at the station Nate entered the bullpen just as Magda walked out. "Hey, look, what I got here." He said and put a picture of Spivey on top of his beloved grid. His body and arms and legs were a bonsai tree though.

Upon seeing that everybody started to laugh immediately. "Nate, where the hell did you get that?" CD asked eventually.

"A buddy of mine in the photolab made it." Then he handed her a darts arrow. "The honor of the first shot should be yours."

She chuckled and aimed. "Middle of his forehead" She announced, threw the arrow and hit the spot she had aimed for.

"Not bad." Nate grinned and handed out arrows to everybody else. When he wanted to give one to Jinny she shook her head and hung up the phone. She liked that little prank but right now she had something else on her mind. "I'll be back in a few." She said and walked out too.

The others all took their turns and soon the whole picture was covered with arrows.

While they relieved their frustration this way Magda had a serious task ahead of her. Still contemplating if she really was doing the right thing she walked into Jonah's office and for once managed to resist the temptation and returned his key. She had decided to be with her family and leave her affair with him behind.

Jinny right away drove to where Raina was awaiting her already. Together they walked on the boat where Raina had suspected that Ray and Gina might be hiding. Soon it was clear that they had been right. Even though Ray was nowhere in sight they caught Gina in the little kitchen. But Ray sneaked up behind them. Gina warned him and went for her gun so that Raina had no choice but shoot her. But still Ray tried to look for a way out, not letting go of his gun. Listening to Jinny he got infuriated and raised his gun again, wanting to kill her, but Jinny was faster and had to kill him in self defense. Raina called it in and soon an ambulance, coroner and crime scene were all over the boat. Jinny stayed there while Raina accompanied Gina and the EMTs to the hospital. The shot hadn't been that bad and the doctor assumed she would make it.

A couple of hours later everything was pretty much back to normal again. The commotion had cooled down and CD and Nate had successfully managed to keep the press away from Spivey and Spivey away from Jinny or Raina. First they told him he was needed for a press conference and offered to drive him there. He gladly accepted, knowing he'd make quite an appearance like that. But when they reached their destination there was no press of course.

"Where is that press conference?" He asked annoyed.

CD shrugged and checked her watch. "Maybe we're early?"

"Nah. We're on time. I'm sure they'll come soon." Nate said.

Spivey paced for ten minutes, got out his cellphone made a call and then glared at CD and Nate who were leaning against the car, grinning at each other. "You two morons drove me to the wrong address! The conference was at the station!"

"It was?" Nate asked surprised.

"And I was sure it would be at in front of the bridge." CD shrugged. "I mean with the Golden Gate bridge as background and all, because of..."

"SHUT UP!" He glared at her. "It was at the station! And apparently because I wasn't there Ex..."

"Exstead, sir. Inspector Jinny Exstead." Nate said when he noticed he had forgotten her name again.

"Her and Inspector Wyoming talked to the press!" He was furious.

"Washington. Raina Washington. But Wyoming was close." CD corrected him, trying hard not to laugh.

"Yeah, hey, you're lucky they were around." Nate added.

"DRIVE ME BACK!" He yelled at him and got back into the car.

CD and Nate exchanged a look, grinned broadly and then got into the car again too. Knowing where the traffic was heavy around this time, CD of course drove the route that would take them an hour to even get back because they were constantly stuck in traffic.

That pissed him off even more of course and he started to yell at them again. "You're cops dammit! Use the siren! GET ME BACK TO THE STATION!"

"But this is not an emergency, sir." CD said. "We are not supposed to use the siren unless there's an emergency, right?" She looked at Nate.

"Right." He nodded and looked at Spivey. "Now, you don't want us to break the rules, do you?"

He growled in frustration, wondering what the hell he had done to deserve this crowd of idiots working at his Division. And he really had to do something about that.

Once they were back at the station he went straight to the office and CD and Nate knew they had to keep him there, no matter what, sohe couldn't get too nosy or arrest anybody again. They followed him and apologized for the misunderstanding about the press conference and then out of the blue both CD and Nate started to become strongly interested in the cult of clipping bonsai trees. So while he went on a rampage about it and told them more than they ever wanted, or rather actually not really wanted to hear. Meanwhile they were still stuck in the office and shot each other desperated looks while he talked to his tree as if it was his firstborn son. But at least like that he was busy with something else, and after all that had been their task.

At the same time Jinny decided to call Kate and fill her in on everything.

"McCafferty." Kate answered the phone and smiled when she heard Jinny's voice. She was proud of them.

"Look Cap, I don't know if you heard what happened..." Jinny started.

"Yeah I did. It's all over the news and I keep on getting phonecalls here. Did Spivey give you much trouble?" That was the only thing that worried her.

"None so far actually. CD and Nate are in the office with him since forever. By now we're not sure anymore who gagged and cuffed whom there." She joked.

Kate chuckled slightly. "I wonder why he's there in the first place. You guys did all of that on your own. And that was great work."

"Well I'm not so sure... I mean we should have gotten them sooner. They always were a step ahead of us." That still bothered her somehow.

"Well you guys did a great job. You should be proud." She nodded slightly.

"Thanks Cap." Jinny was glad she was on their side. "So how about you?"

"I'm coming in uhm to the station later." Kate said, hearing how Louis walked up behind her.

"Hey that's great. We'll be here." She really hoped she was coming back for good.

"Ya, I'll see you then. Okay, bye." She hung up the phone again.

"Bye Cap." Jinny hung up herself.

Upon hearing the last part of that conversation Louis got worried but Kate told him she was going to turn in her retirement papers. Upon that he told her that he only wanted her to be happy, no matter what. She leaned closer to him and they kissed and cuddled.

No one really had realized how fast the day had come to an end again. Jinny walked along the hallway towards the bullpen when she saw her father waiting for her there. He told her how proud he was of her and that her brother could rest in peace now. But Jinny reminded him that she did the right thing because Sanchez had gone for his gun. She knew she had provoked him. But she knew she had done the right thing. Not really in the mood to talk to her dad any longer right now she walked into the bullpen again.

The elevatordoors opened at the lobby and everybody got out. Nate and CD among them. "Nate?" CD smiled at him.

"Yah?" He turned around to her.

"What are you doin' tonight?" She asked him, her voice low and sexy while giving him a slightly seductive look.

"Havin dinner with you I hope." He smiled at her.

"I can meet you." She said. "I need to go somewhere else first."

He slightly wondered what she was up to but trusted her so didn't worry about it too much. "Okay. Well uhhh. I'll meet you at the lil Italian place on Polk."

"What's the name of it?" CD asked, not sure if she knew it.

"The little Italian place on Polk." He repeated, having no clue about the restaurant's name.

She smiled at him broadly at that. That was so typically Nate. "Nevermind." She slightly shook her head. "I'll find it." And then she turned to leave, grinning even more.

Nate grinned back at her. He already couldn't wait to see her again. "You're not gonna change your mind, are ya?" He asked, just wanting to make sure.

She turned around again. "I'm not gonna change my mind." She looked at him for a long moment, her eyes making clear how much she was looking forward to tonight.

CD was grinning broadly when she entered her appartment building and already considered what she’d wear to her date with Nate that lateron. Suddenly she frowned when she saw another woman enter. “Jinny?”

“Hey CD.” Jinny said, as surprised to see her there as CD was to see Jinny.

“Everything okay?” CD asked worried.

“Well, as okay as it can be at the moment.” Jinny said and sighed. “Hey, who let you in?” She then asked, assuming CD was there to see her.

“My friend the key.” CD laughed and held up her keys.

“Wait, you mean you live here?” Jinny realized.

CD laughed even more and nodded. “Uh huh. Ever since the divorce and all. Hey, what’s all this about anyways?”

“I live here too!” Jinny exclaimed. “Since I moved out from my dad’s again.”

“No sh-it?” CD asked stunned.

“Freaky, huh?” Jinny laughed.

“Oh yeah.” She nodded and they walked up together.

CD stopped in front of her door and Jinny burst out laughing even more. “This is getting freakier by the minute!” She pointed to the next door. “We’re neighbors even!”

“You’re kidding!” CD laughed with her. “And we never noticed!”

“Well we noticed now.” Jinny chuckled.

“Good point.” CD nodded and unlocked her door. “Hey, I actually gotta get ready for... dinner. But want a coffee or something?”

“Sure.” Jinny nodded and followed her inside. “Dinner, huh?”

“Yeah well, a date kinda thing.” CD smiled broadly.

“Ohhh I see.” Jinny grinned.

“Uh huh.” CD nodded. “Hey, do you know how Gina is doing at the hospital? I wanted to drive by to check on her but I figured I can just call as well.”

Jinny nodded. “Yeah, and I don’t know. Last thing I heard was seems that she’ll make it.”

CD started the coffee and got her phone to call the hospital. She talked to somebody for a moment and then nodded at Jinny. “They said she’s still asleep but there isn’t that much damage.”

“That’s good to know.” Jinny said and CD handed her a cup of coffee. “So... hot date, huh?” Jinny smirked.

“Yeah, well, it’s the first official date for Nate and me.” She smiled.

Jinny grinned. “Then what are we still waiting for here?” She put the coffee away. “We gotta getcha ready for the big night!”

“Big night?” CD laughed.

“Yeah well, come on!” Jinny smirked. “You can’t tell me you don’t wanna get down and dirty with him.”

CD laughed again. “Hmm maybe... depending how it goes... I might take him home.” She smirked.

“Thought so.” Jinny grinned. “You have condoms here? Well actually you should take some along, in case he wants to go to his place...”

“We’re gonna have dinner at that lil Italian place on Polk street, that’s pretty much just around the corner from here.” CD said. “And he suggeseted that. So he’s probably hoping I’ll take him home already.”

Jinny smirked. “Well he’s a guy. Ya can’t blame him for that. Besides he had the hots for you ever since.

“That was mutual.” CD admitted.

Jinny grinned. “Great! Then the sex is gonna blow ya, I’m sure. So where are your condoms? You should have one in every room, just in case...” She winked at her.

“I had my tubes tied, forget the stupid condoms.” CD said.

“Candace DeLorenzo!” Jinny laughed. “But knowing Nate, he’s probably buying some as we speak.”

And indeed, in a Walgreens not far from them Nate was considering what brand to buy, and if CD would like em flavored or plain. Because he simply couldn’t decide and wanted everything to be perfect, he took one package of each. As he approached the cashier he almost bumped into Spivey who was buying nose spray and aspirin.

Nate nodded at him as a greeting and Spivey just stared at him in disbelief as he paid for approximately two dozen condom packages. He now was certain that that guy was sleeping with each of the sluts of that Division.

Nate burst out laughing as soon as he reached the parking lot and tossed the condoms into his trunk. He didn’t want CD to possibly see those. Of course he was hoping that she’d share her bed with him tonight, but he knew that if it would happen she’d be the one to make the first step. He didn’t want to pressure her or anything. And it didn’t matter to him if they’d have sex or not. He’d wait for her forever. What was important was that he loved her and that he was hoping he was more than just a really good friend to her as well.

Just in case, Jinny had gone to her appartment and gotten some condoms. Even though CD had growled she had hidden a couple of condoms in every room while CD was getting dressed.

She had decided to wear a long black dress and put up her hair. Skeptically she looked at her mirror reflection.

“You look great!” Jinny assured her. “He’s gonna love it.”

CD smiled. “You think it’s not too much?”

Jinny shook her head. “It’s perfect.”

CD smiled broadly. “Thanks.”

Jinny quickly hugged her. “Hey, I need to get going though. I have an appointment whith my therapist.”

CD nodded. “Does it help?”

Jinny nodded. “I guess...”

CD smiled. “I was seeing a therapist during the whole Paul disaster.”

“Did it help you?” Jinny asked.

“I guess...” CD answered and the two looked at each other and laughed.

“Hey...” Jinny asked after a moment. “Ya know what’s still bothering me somehow?”

“No, what?” CD wanted to know now.

“Why were they always a step ahead of us? Why did they always knew we’d come and when we’d come?” She sighed.

CD shrugged. “I don’t know. That’s what I wanted to ask Gina.”

“But she’s still asleep now, right?” Jinny said.

“Yeah.” CD nodded. “Hey, do you know what happened to that Marshall after she blew up at Spivey?”

Jinny shook her head. “No, but she was weird somehow.”

“Yeah.” CD nodded. “I somehow felt as if she was sweettalking me because we both know how it is to lose a partner and to grow up after your dad ran away on you.”

“Oh well.” Jinny shrugged. “We can still figure that out tomorrow, huh? We both have better things to do tonight.” She smirked. “Well you do at least. But I don’t wanna be late for my session either, so...”

CD nodded. “Thanks for everything.” They quickly hugged.

Jinny smirked. “Hey, and I want details tomorrow!” She said before she left.

CD smirked herself and for a moment checked out her mirror reflection again.

Meanwhile Kate had arrived at the station again and walked into the bullpen. Magda was still there so she asked her to run some names for her. Her phone conversation with Jinny had made her think. Something didn't quite feel right yet.

While Magda ran the prision records for her she waited in her office with mixed feelings about retiring. She saw a sheet of paper on the desk and her gut instinct told her to read it and she was glad she did so. At that moment Spivey walked in. "Kate? Is there something I can help you with?" By now he had been certain that she was gone for good.

"'Therefor it is my recommendation that Inspectors Exstead, DeLorenzo and Basso be terminated as soon as possible.'" She quoted from the paper. "What is this?"

"My correspondence, which I would appreciate you're not reading." He got annoyed again.

"It's in my office." The moment she read that she knew what she had to do.

"YOU submitted your retirement papers." He still felt like he would win.

"Not yet I haven't." Kate said triumphantly. "You seriously trying to boot the three best inspectors of this division off the force?"

"They all disobeyed direct orders to begin with." That was probably the thing he hated the most, when somebody didn't take him and his orders for full.

"They got the bad guys! Which apparently you couldn't have nailed even if you had the entire 101st Airborne backing you up." Kate was furious

"Oh now wait just a damn minute!" He was starting to lose control.

"My people are good people. They're good cops. They make mistakes because they're human" She prounounced that especially because he didn't seem to realize what that meant. "They dedicated their lives to this job."

He shook his head, looking like he was about to explode. "This isn't any of your buisness!"

"I'm making it my buisness." She glared up at him.

"Kate, in your condition..." He tried the last straw.

But she cut him off again. "Yah, nothing about my condition is gonna keep me from tossing your sorry ass outta here." She walked over to his bonsai.

"Yah, well we'll see about that!" He wouldn't accept this.

"Spivey? Bonsai!" She shoved it at him and he had no chance but had to leave.
No wonder Kate had defended them all after what he had just seen in the supermarket. He shuddered and looked at his little tree. “Know what?” He whispered. “We can be glad that we’re outta there! They’re all perverts with weird orgies...”

Triumphantly Kate watched after him and walked back out to Magda who had heard most of that and was glad to have Kate back. "Whatcha got?" Kate asked.

Magda told her that the thre guys had shared a cell in prision. That didn't really surprise Kate though. Then she explained to Magda, because she didn't understand, that two years ago, the third guy, who happened to be filthy rich, managed to escape while being transferred to a federal prision. And that Elizabeth Rue was the Marshall there. "Where is Liz now?" Kate asked.

Magda shrugged. She had no clue and didn’t care either. “Gone I guess...”

“Do me a favor and look into that before you go home. I’m in MY office.” She smirked.

Magda laughed. “That’s where you belong.”

Kate chuckled and walked in there again.

As soon as she was in there again Magda got up and left the station. She figured she could still check up on Liz in the morning. She wanted to go home to Gabe and Ben now. After all, what could possibly happen with that Liz person? It wasn’t as if she was a danger to anybody...

That damn Magda!!!:mad:

The doorbell rang and she went to open the door. Looking through the peephole she groaned. There wasn’t a single person she’d wanna see less right now than the woman who was standing in front of her door. For a moment she considered to pretend she wasn’t at home and not to answer the door. But she was already running late. She could climb out of the window though. But even if she did that, she was certain that when she’d come back, that woman would still be waiting there. Or maybe would have let herself in somehow.

Since she wanted that even less she finally opened the door. “Mom!” She didn’t even try to hide her annoyance.

“Candygirl!” The elderly woman embraced her daughter in a hug right away.

“Now what the hell do you want from me?” CD asked.

Polly Dankow sighed and dragging her suitcase inside pushed past her daughter to sit down on the couch. “Candace, give me a break, will ya? I’m not even inside yet and you’re hostile already.”

CD groaned. “Well first of all, you ARE inside, where by the way, I don’t want you to be, and as for the hostile thing...”

But Polly cut her off. “Please, give me five minutes.”

CD sighed. She was her mom after all. “Okay, fine, five minutes.” She closed the door again and walked over to her mother.

She smiled. “You’re looking great tonight. I never would have thought to ever see you wear a dress again!”

CD groaned. “Cut the sweettalk and get to the point!”

“Well...” She swallowed. “I thought a lot after my last visit... and I really started seeing a shrink.” She laughed embarrassed about that.

“Great, I hope it helps.” CD said and motioned at the suitcase. “And don’t even think you can stay here.”

Polly sighed and looked down. She loved her daughter and wished she could turn back time to make a lot of things undone. Tears started to flow out of her eyes but she tried to hide them. “I know I’ve been a horrible mom.” She admitted. “I wish there was something that I could do to take all of that pain I caused away from you again.”

“Well you can’t.” CD stated dryly. “But thanks for saying that.”

“Like I said... I started therapy.” Polly said again. “And I now know that it was wrong of me to keep on pretending my life is perfect and ignoring... certain things had happened.”

“My rape for instance?” CD hissed. She had been looking forward to a wonderful evening with Nate. And now she was keeping him waiting for that.

“Yes.” Her mother sighed. “That being the worst of everything I ever did. I shouldn’t have...”

This time CD cut her off. “Look mom, I’m really glad that you’re going to therapy and that it helps, and that you want to apologize and face certain things, but right now is a horrible timing.”

“You still have plans for tonight, huh?” She smiled at her daughter.

CD had to smile back. “Yeah, well... just dinner with a friend.”

Polly nodded. “I see.” She knew her estranged daughter well enough though to know she wouldn’t wear a dress for a dinner with a friend. But she didn’t want to press further either now. Sighing she leaned back on the couch. “I really don’t wanna keep you from that, but Neil, that’s my therapist, he said it’s very important for the both of us that I get in touch with you again and that we slowly learn to overcome our differences...” She smiled at her. “Yeah, so here I am! And I decided to move to San Francisco so I can spend a lot of time with you and then our mother/daughter relationship can heal again!”

“Oh great.” CD muttered shocked and wondered if the day could get any worse. The last thing she wanted in her life was her mother, let alone a lot of her.

“Yeah, isn’t it?” Polly sighed happily, not realizing her daughter’s answer had been sarcasm, not joy.

CD knew that now was the time for damage control. “Uhm, look mom, I know how important that sunflower thing is for you, and yeah, there are some things we should talk out, but it really isn’t necessary that you move here or anything...”

“Candace, darling, don’t worry about that now. Just go to your dinner and I’ll just sleep on your couch and we can talk some more tomorrow or so...” She yawned, “...as a matter of fact I’m really tired and I wouldn’t mind some....” she yawned again and stretching her arms along the couch her hand slipped into one of the cracks of the couch. She felt something there and pulled it out. “...sleep...” Frowning she finished her sentence as she held up the condom she had just found hidden in the couch.

LOL...how embarassing....:lol:

CD groaned and snatched it from her to toss it on the coffee table. “Whatever, fine, sleep here, but I really gotta go now.” She grabbed her stuff and rushed out of the door.

Chuckling Polly decided to see if she would find more hidden in the couch, and indeed there were some more condoms. Wondering about that she started to search the rest of the appartment as well now.

Jinny arrived at her therapist’s place and when she wanted to walk inside the door was closed and she saw a ‘Sorry we’re closed due to sickness’ sign. Growling Jinny kicked the door. Today of all days that damn shrink had to get sick, just when she really would have needed to talk.

But there wasn’t anything she could do about that now. With a sigh she left again and considered what to do. She had to occupy her mind somehow, and usually the best thing to do that was work. She remembered her conversation with CD earlier and decided to step by the hospital to check on that Gina.

When she arrived there a nurse told her that there had been complications and she had died about an hour ago, but that before she died another cop had been there.

“What cop?” Jinny asked frowning.

The nurse shrugged. “A woman, small, short brunette hair. I think she said she was a marshall or something.”

“Elizabeth Rue?” Jinny now asked and wondered why the hell she had been there.

“Yeah, I think...” The nurse nodded.

“Thanks.” Jinny said and hurried off again. That woman really started to give her the creeps. And somehow she was certain that Gina hadn’t died because of complications, but because she had wanted revenge for her partner’s death.

Of course, that feeling she could understand, but it still was wrong. Gina had been caught already, there was no reason to kill her, and it couldn’t possibly had been defense either.

She drove around for a while, but these thoughts just didn’t leave her alone. So she stopped at a phone booth and found Liz’ address in the phonebook. She ripped the page with her address out of it and then drove there. She at least wanted to talk to her so she’d understand why she had done it.

As she parked in front of the house she figured going in there alone probably wasn’t that much of a smart idea. She considered if she should call CD because it seemed as if she was having the same suspicions. But she really didn’t wanna ruin her date with Nate. So she called her partner’s number.

“Ramirez.” Magda answered her phone, slightly annoyed. Gabe wasn’t home yet and Ben had thrown a fit because he wanted burgers for dinner.

“Hey Mag, it’s Jin.” She said. “Everything okay?”

“Yeah, yeah, nevermind. What do you need help with?” Mag still sounded annoyed.

“Look, I just stopped by the hospital. Gina is dead. And shortly before she died Liz Rue was with her.” Jinny said.

“So?” Magda couldn’t see her point.

“So, don’t you think that’s suspicious?” Jinny asked.

“Coincidence.” Magda shrugged. “Look Jin, we can all look into that woman tomorrow if you still think she’s a serial killer by then. But right now I’m gonna wait for Gabe to get back and now leave me alone with that stupid woman!” She growled. What was it about some stupid Marshall that made first Kate, and now even Jinny to see ghosts?

“I’m in front of her appartment, I think...” Jinny started.

But Magda cut her off. “Jinny go home! Jesus!” She heard a key in the door and hung up on Jin.

“Fine.” Jinny growled. “Thanks for your help partner.” She muttered as she angrily tossed the phone into the passenger’s seat and then got out of the car. If Magda didn’t want to help, fine, she could do this alone too.

Oh no don't let her shoot Jinny!...let her shoot Magda...she's been shot before so she can handle it....:D

CAT!!! What are you doing???? Liz can't shoot Jinny, please?? You know that she is my favorite character. As maria1986 said, let Liz shoot Magda. She probably can take it. I will talk to you later about this. :)

She walked up to Liz’ door and knocked. Soon after that the door was opened and Liz gave her a rather puzzled look. Obviously she hadn’t expected a visitor, let alone this one. “Hey...” She said and motioned her to enter. “Jinny, right?” They hadn’t talked much while she had been at their Division. The more her visit surprised her. What did she want from her? Had she found out? But she played it calm until she’d find out for certain.

“Yeah.” Jinny said as she walked inside.

Liz went to her fridge and handed Jinny a beer, taking a sip from her own bottle. Jinny looked at it for a moment, but she couldn’t care less right now. She was here to find out the truth. She looked around the appartment that was full of boxes.

“Let me clear a spot.” Liz said and put some of those boxes away.

“Look, I’m not here for smalltalk.” Jinny said. “I was at the hospital. I know you killed Gina.” Jinny paused to look at Liz. She just looked back at her with an icecold stare, neither denying, nor admitting it. “What I don’t understand though is why. Because of your partner? Did you want revenge? She already had that coming up to her.”

Liz shrugged. “She knew too much. She would have talked. So I had to kill her. I gave her an injection, right into her IV.” At that she drew her gun and pointed it at Jinny.

‘Great, just great.’ Jinny thought to herself. “Oh come on!” She groaned. “Put the damn gun away.”

“I can’t take the risk.” Gina said. “Damn, I wouldn’t have thought you’re such a good cop. None of you. But you figured it out.”

“Yeah I did.” Jinny answered. “And so did CD. And Magda knows where I am too. So put the gun away, it’ll only make things worse.”

“No, you’re wrong. It doesn’t matter. I never cared about the job. I just wanted to get out of the nowhere where I came from. And I’m almost there! You ain’t gonna stop me!” She reached for a couch cushion and held it in front of her gun so the shot would be silenced somewhat.

Jinny couldn’t believe this. “So what now? You’re gonna kill me?”

“After Tom it’ll be a snap.” Liz said and was ready to pull the trigger.

At the same moment though Jinny threw the beer bottle at her, that caused Liz to duck and the shot went through the pillow and into the air. That gave Jinny enough time to pull her own gun and she shot Liz into the upper part of her abdomen. As Liz fell down to the ground she managed to fire another shot though.

Jinny felt the sudden impact in her torso and was flung to the ground. She moaned in pain as she realized what had happened and that she had been shot. But she was still alive and that was good. She thought that she didn’t regret it though. Nothing of it. She did what she had to do. A saying came to her mind. ‘What doesn’t kill you just makes you stronger.’ She groaned because the bullet inside her was hurting her. But it hadn’t killed her. ‘I wish I wasn’t so damn strong.’ She thought to herself and wondered if Liz was dead or still alive as well.

Meanwhile across from town Raina had agreed to meet Johnny in a fancy danceclub. She grinned at him as they walked on the dancefloor and he embraced her as they started to slowdance. She knew he was a bad guy and she shouldn’t even be there, but something about him just drew her close. She knew she was a moth flying into the flame but unable to turn around.

Back in Liz appartment Jinny started to think about what would happen if she died now. How would Jack react? Would he even care? Would she care if it would be the other way round? Probably not as much as she should. He definitely wasn’t keeping her there. But somewhere inside her another voice seemed to call out to her. To tell her to hang in there, that she had to pull through. She had to smile a little. Yeah, she would pull through, for him. This wasn’t her time to die yet. She had to get back together with the man she loved and tell him what she felt for him. And for him she fought the dizzyness that started to slowly overcome her.

Magda and Gabe meanwhile had decided to go to bed. She walked back into the bedroom again where he was waiting for her. Happily he hugged her and they started to kiss. But as he touched her Magda couldn’t stop thinking of Jonah and that she’d rather be with him right now. So she pulled back and looked at her husband. “Gabe, I’m so sorry, but I have to go again. Jinny called earlier and I think she needs my help.”

Gabe sighed but nodded. She had spent so much time with Jinny lately, but he could understand that with everything that Jinny was going through at the moment she needed her best friend. “Alright, I’ll wait for you baby.” He said and sat down on the bed.

Magda nodded and quickly got dressed again. She left the house and raced off. If only she could shake this bad feeling that had overcome her.

Jinny was taking one slow breath after the other. Still fighting it. ‘Of course I still love him.’ She thought to herself. She didn’t even blame him for going. After all she was the one who asked him to leave because she hadn’t been ready yet. But she knew that now she was, she just hoped it wasn’t too late now. ‘How long can love last, really?’ She wondered. ‘How does it withstand all the crap we throw at it?’ And she knew she had thrown way too much crap at the love she and Teddy had shared. The love she still was feeling for him.

Taking another breath she slowly looked around. She had to get out of here somehow. Now that she finally was looking forward to her future she couldn’t just give up. Maybe she could call somebody. When she reached for her cellphone she remembered she had left it in the car after calling Magda. ‘Dammit!’ She thought She wanted to scream for help but she was too weak. Darkness overcame her and she couldn’t fight it anymore. Her last thought before she passed out was that she hoped somebody would find her just in time.

Nate looked out of the window to see rain pouring down. He sighed and looked around. They hadn’t actually agreed on a specific time, but CD sure was taking her time with whatever she still wanted to do. Or had she changed her mind after all? The more time passed, the less he believed she’d still come. Maybe he should call her? Then he hoped that nothing had happened to her. It wasn’t like her to be so late without calling him at least. ‘Face it Basso.’ He thought to himself. ‘She realized that she deserves something better than you. She won’t come anymore.’ But yet, somehow he couldn’t give up just yet. Something told him to keep on waiting and that she would come.

In another part of town another man was waiting for his woman as well. He growled as he checked his watch and she still wasn’t home. “Dammit Kate, where are you?” Louis muttered to himself. She had just wanted to turn in her retirement papers, that couldn’t possibly take her this long!

But Kate hadn’t turned the papers in. In fact she just crumpled them and tossed them into the wastebin. She just belonged here. So she looked around her office and put the cane aside before she slowly sat down into her chair behind her desk, in her office. She knew that she had done the right thing. No matter if she’d ever made chief or not. She was a cop and a damn good one at that. She couldn’t just give up and leave her people behind.

Relieved she took a deep breath when suddenly she remembered that Louis must be going crazy by now because he was waiting fcr her. So she picked up the phone and called him.

“Kate?” He answered worried.

“Yeah, Louis, listen, we need to talk.” She said. “I can’t leave just yet though.”

He growled. “Why the hell not? What’s taking you so damn long, you just wanted to turn in...”

At that she cut him off. “Well I didn’t. I couldn’t.”

“What do you mean you couldn’t?” He yelled into the phone.

“Louis, let me explain.” Kate tried. “That guy, Spivey, the acting captain here, he was a jerk and totally uncapable of doing this job! He wanted to get rid of three of my best inspectors and I just couldn’t let that happen. My people here need me! They deserve something better than some creep who jerks off on a tree!”

“Kate dammit! You’re out of your mind! Stop thinking you’re the only good cop in this city because you’re not! Turn in those damn papers!” Louis was furious.

“What the hell happened to supporting me no matter what I decide?” Kate yelled back at him.

“I just said that when I thought you’d do what I want!” He yelled, not realizing he had given away his true motives.

Kate realized what was going on. She took a deep breath and calmly replied. “That’s what it actually is, isn’t it? You just want me to do whatever you want! You don’t actually care about my feelings or my wishes! You haven’t changed one bit!”

“Kate, Kate, no, stop.” He tried.

But Kate was just starting. “You know what Louis, I have a newsflash for you!” She yelled again. “The world does not revolve around you and I’m not your damn puppet on a string! And to be honest I’m sick of your crap!”

“Kate, you’re overreacting!” He yelled back at her. “You’re gonna get a heartattack if you keep that up!”

“So what if I do? That’d be your fault then! And yours alone! And you know what Louis? So was the stroke! Yes I had too much stress in my life, but hardly because of work! I’ve always had stress here. And I handled that just fine for years! The stress that led up to the stroke was your fault! And don’t you dare to tell me to resign again! The only thing I should resign from is you!”

“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” He growled.

“It means that when I come back I want you and your stuff outta there! I couldn’t care less if you go back to Lithuania, Mombasa or the Vatikan! But you’re not staying with me anymore!” Having made her point she hung up the phone and took a deep breath. She couldn’t believe she had fallen for this guy twice.

Even though it was hard she was glad she had done what she had to do. She loved her job and needed to be here. But Louis? Had she ever loved him? She wasn’t sure about that anymore. But right now she had to worry about something else. So she took her cane and made her way out of her office again, wanting to talk to Magda. But Magda wasn’t there anymore. “Where did she go?” Kate muttered to herself.

Magda took a deep breath. She hated the feeling that once again overcame her. Guilt, shame, she couldn’t even quite describe it. But she couldn’t stop either and knocked on the door. But as soon as the door opened she didn’t feel bad for being there anymore. The bad feeling she had had because she left her husband alone at home vanished as soon as she saw the man she had come for. “Jonah. Can I come inside?”

His response to that was sweeping her off her feet and undressing her on their way to his bedroom. By now Magda wasn’t thinking about her husband or son anymore at all, let alone about her partner. She was just looking forward to getting laid by her doctor.

Nate checked his watch again, still no CD in sight. He took the last sip of his water and decided to just go home. She had stood him up and he had made a fool out of himself. But when he looked up and wanted to call the waiter he immediately had to smile. She had come after all. And it definitely had been worth the wait. She was wearing her hair up and the long black dress looked like she had been poured into it. “Whoa.” He whispered as she approached him.

CD smiled happily when she saw that he still was there. She had been so scared that he had left already. He got up and pulled her into a hug. “I’m so glad you came.” He whispered as he held her close. “I already thought you’d stood me up.”

“Yeah me too.” She sighed. “I’m sorry it took so long...”

“Don’t worry about it. I’m just glad you’re here now.” He smiled and eventually let her go again. “You look so amazing.” He whispered.

“Thanks” She slighty blushed and gave him a quick peck on the cheek and then he held her chair out for her to sit down. She grinned at him as he sat down again himself. “God I wonder if a day could get weirder and worse than today.”

He frowned at that. “Because of the whole thing with Spivey or...?”

“Or.” She chuckled. “Well it started with the Bonsai. But when I got home, guess who I ran into.”

He shrugged. “Who?”

“Jinny. And you won’t believe this, but we’re neighbors. She lives in the appartment next to mine since she moved out from her dad’s place again. Can ya believe that? We never realized.” She smiled as now a waiter approached and poured wine into their glasses.

Nate had to laugh. “Well be glad you ran into Jin and not Spivey. On my way here I stopped at Walgreens... and he was there and I don’t know, it was just weird.”

“What were you doing at Walgreens?” CD grinned at him.

“I uhm, needed some, uhh Aspirin.” He murmured.

“I see.” She had to smirk at that. “In case you picked this place because it’s around the corner from my place and are planning on going there later by the way...” CD started.

Nate cut her off right away. “CD, no! Really, you should know me better than that. I just..”

This time she cut him off. “...we’re not gonna go there...”

Again Nate cut her off. “That’s totally okay, we have all the time...”

But again CD cut him off. “... because my mother is there.”

“What? Seriously?” He frowned, still remembering how upset she had been at her mother’s last visit.

CD nodded. “That’s why it took me so long too. I was about to leave when she showed up.”

He cringed at that. “I’m sorry. And what does she want?”

CD rolled her eyes. “She’s seeing a shrink, bla bla, wants to make up, bla bla, is staying on my couch for now.”

“Well you could always stay on my couch.” He grinned.

She smirked back at him. “I might just come back to that.”

The waiter approached them once again and handed them the menues. CD glanced through it but nervously kept on checking her watch. Something suddenly felt terribly wrong and she had a hard time sitting still.

“CD.” Nate sighed and put his hand on top of her own. “What is it?”

“Huh?” She looked up at him.

“Is it me? Am I making you so nervous?” He asked. “Please don’t be...”

“No, it’s not you.” She smiled at him. “I’ve been waiting for this all day long.”

He smiled back at her. “But then what is it?”

She sighed. “It’s Jinny... and Liz... and... I don’t know... I have this very weird feeling that something is very very wrong...”

“What do you mean?” He frowned.

She shrugged. “I don’t even really know myself... When Jinny and I talked earlier... we talked about Gina in the hospital and that Liz was so weird... and she just disappeared somehow. Yeah and I called the hospital about Gina, but they said she was sleeping. So Jinny and I agreed on checking on her tomorrow, because Jin had an appointment and I.. well I wanted to come here.” She smiled at him again.

He smiled back at her again. “And I’m really glad you’re here.”

She sighed and gave him a puppy eye look. “Can I just real quick call Jin to see if everything’s okay?”

He nodded. “Of course.”

She got out her cellphone and called both Jinny’s home and cell number. But she just got her machine and mailbox. Frowning she looked at Nate. “She doesn’t answer.”

OMG Jinny must survive!!!!!!!!!! Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese!!

Nate nodded, he knew her well enough that she couldn’t rest now, and usually when she had a hunch or a bad feeling there always was something behind it. “You wanna go again?” It was more a statement than a question.

She nodded and got up right away. Nate quickly paid the bill and she kissed his cheek. “Thanks.”

“No problem.” He smiled at her. “So where to now?”

“Well she said she was gonna see her therapist.” CD said.

“You know who that is?” He asked.

CD nodded. “Magda mentioned it.”

“Then what are we waiting for?” He followed her outside.

“You sure you wanna come with me?” She asked.

“I’m still your partner.” He nodded.

She grinned at him. “Yeah you are.”

Now he was the one to give her his puppy look. “Before we drive off...”

“Yeah?” She smiled at him.

“Can I get a kiss?” He asked shyly.

She smiled broadly. “I thought you’d never ask.” She whispered and wrapped her arms around his neck.

He grinned and put his hands on her hips, drawing her a little closer to him as he lowered his lips to her own.

She smiled as her lips brushed against his and he started to softly nibble at her lower lip. She still couldn’t believe how incredible it felt to be in his arms and how he managed to let her forget everything around her, just by a kiss. She ran her tongue along his lips until his own met hers and he drew it into his mouth. They danced around each other longingly until they had to pull back for air again. Smiling broadly he leaned his forehead against hers. “CD...” He whispered.

“I know.” She gave him another quick kiss. “But...”

“I know.” He just had to give her another quick kiss as well. “Come on.”

Hand in hand they walked to her car and he took the keys from her and held her door open.

“Thanks.” She grinned at him and then he rushed around to get in himself. She drove to the address and when they walked up to the door, of course they also saw that sign. “I do not like this.” CD muttered and tried to call Jinny again. She looked more worried with each passing minute.

“Nothing?” Nate asked.

She shook her head. “Dammit!!!”

He sighed and put his hands on her shoulders.

“The hospital.” CD then said.

“What?” He frowned.

“If that would’ve been me, I’d have buried myself in work now.” She motioned at the sign again. “And the last thing Jinny and I talked about before she left was....”

“...Gina.” He finished her sentence.

She nodded. “Exactly.” With that she called the hospital and got the same news that they had told Jinny earlier. That unfortunately Gina died due to complications.

“Geez what is it with you guys, if you started talking to each other you’d spare us a lot of trouble.” The nurse hissed at her.

“Excuse me?” CD asked defensively. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”

“That you’re not the first one who asks about her.” She growled.

“Who else was there? Another Inspector?” CD asked. “Jinny Exstead, about 5’6”, long black hair?”

“Yeah her. And that Marshall... Liz something.” She answered. “She was the last one who talked to Gina. And then that other Inspector asked me the same...”

At that CD simply hung up and looked at Nate. “We gotta go.” She started to run back to the car and he followed her.

“Where to? What’s going on?” Nate asked when they were in the car.

“Liz killed Gina and I’m pretty sure Jinny figured that out and went to confront her.” She said as she pushed the gas down as far as possible and switched on siren and lights.

They soon arrived at Liz place and ran inside. When they knocked on the door and rang the doorbell no one answered. “Dammit” CD muttered. “Let’s go inside.” She reached for Nate’s gun since she was still wearing her dress and of course had left gunholster and everything at home.

“Help yourself.” Nate chuckled at that. “And do you really wanna storm in there like that, we don’t have a warrant...”

CD glared at him. “**** the warrant. I’m going in there.” She prepared herself to kick the door open.

“Wait, let me.” Nate said and took the gun from her again. Even though he’d love to see it, he doubted CD would actually be able to kick that door open in her dress and high heels. But knowing CD she had completely forgotten about her outfit by now or simply didn’t care. No matter what, the job always came first with her. At least when somebody might be in danger. And right now he just hoped she was wrong with her prediction about Jin.

Oh come on. You cannot leave me hanging there. Post more pleeze. For me? :D

CD nodded at him and stepped aside so he could kick the door open. He secured the room and CD rushed in right after him. “OH MY GOD!” They both yelled out upon seeing the sight in front of them. CD right away rushed to Jinny’s side and pressed her hands down on the wound, trying to ignore all the blood that was all over her already. She checked if Jinny was still breathing by leaning close over her face with her own, looking down at her stomach. Thankfully she could feel her breath against her cheek. “CALL AN AMBULANCE!” She yelled at Nate, but he was on the phone already as he checked for a pulse. “She still has a weak pulse.” He informed both CD and the person on the other side of the phone line.

Then he realized he probably should check Liz too. He just looked at CD and shook his head. CD looked back at him for a moment but then turned to Jin again. “Hang in there Jin.” She didn’t even notice the tears that started to emerge from her eyes.

Nate quickly kneeled down next to them and helped CD to apply pressure to the wound in order to stop the bleeding.

“Help is on the way.” CD assured Jinny and with one hand stroked through her hair. “You’ll make it. Don’t worry.” But she more needed to hear that herself.

“Of course she will.” Nate reassured her. “She’s been through too much crap already to give up now.”

“Yeah.” CD nodded. “She’s a fighter.”

“Dammit!” Nate called out. “No pulse. She needs CPR.” He right away felt for the spot on her chest and started with the compressions.

CD held her mouth shut and breathed into her nose. They heard something crack but didn’t really think about it. “Pulse is back!” CD announced incredibly relieved after a moment while Jinny snapped for air and opened her eyes for a split second but right away drifted off again.

But she had seen somebody. Blonde hair. CD? No that couldn’t be. She and Nate were on their date. But she had told Magda where she was. Maybe she had sent help. Or maybe it had been CD. She didn’t know and didn’t care right now. The only thing that mattered was that she knew help was coming. ‘Help, yeah.’ She thought and then she was surrounded by darkness again.

“Dammit!” Nate called out. “No pulse. She needs CPR.” He right away felt for the spot on her chest and started with the compressions.

CD held her mouth shut and breathed into her nose. They heard something crack but didn’t really think about it. “Pulse is back!” CD announced incredibly relieved after a moment while Jinny snapped for air and opened her eyes for a split second but right away drifted off again.

But she had seen somebody. Blonde hair. CD? No that couldn’t be. She and Nate were on their date. But she had told Magda where she was. Maybe she had sent help. Or maybe it had been CD. “Jinny?” CD had seen her eyes flicker open. “JIN! Hang in there! You hear me? They’re coming!” She could hear the sirens of the EMT truck already. They were just around the corner it sounded like.

Nate nodded and went back to pressing his hands over her wound. At the same time CD did the same. Their hands touched and they looked up at each other for a moment, seeing worry in their eyes.

“She’s gonna pull through.” Nate assured CD again.

“She has to.” CD nodded.

At that moment the EMTs finally arrived and pushed CD and Nate aside to do their job.

CD rode to the hospital in the ambulance with Jinny while Nate took her car and followed them.

It seemed to take forever until they finally arrived at the hospital. Once there she was rushed into surgery immediately and Nate joined CD again in the waiting area. They just looked at each other and he opened his arms and she sunk into them, sobbing.

“Shhh.” Holding her close Nate stroked all over her back and tried to soothe her even though he was as worried as she was. “It’s gonna be okay.” He said and kissed her temple.

“What if not?” With teary eyes she looked at him. “It’s all my fault, I should have realized it...”

“You did realize it.” Nate said. “Thanks to you she’s still alive and didn’t bleed out there. I’m so glad you had that hunch.”

She sniffed and nodded. “Where the hell is that bitch of a partner she has? She should have been there with Jin! Dammit, she never should have gone alone!”

“I know.” Nate nodded.

Taking a deep breath CD stepped away from him again. “I’m gonna call Kate, you call Magda?”

Nodding he followed her over to the payphones.
