does anyone remember an actress stabbing in 1985? i think that was the year, but i'm not sure. it could be 1983 or 1984.

I think I remember what you are talking about. Wasn't the actress a brunette? Wasn't she murdered in her home/apartment? I thought she was married and hubby (as usualy) was a suspect. I think I know what you're talking about, I can picture her face. But I can't think of the name!! Help!!

Was it Rebecca Shaffer or is 1985 too early? I remember another actress getting stabbed, too, maybe the one you are thinking about - really pretty latina. I think it was Theresa Saldana, she played the wife on "the commish", right?

Dominique Dunn was also murdered by her boyfriend, but i dont know what year, or if she was stabbed or what. Her father is author Domminick Dunn and her brother is actor Griffun Dunn.

Rebecca Schaeffer was shot in 1989.

Theresa Saldana is alive and well, but she was nearly fatally stabbed by a stalker a few years back.

Dominique Dunne was strangled to death by her estranged boyfriend in '82.

Did UM run a story on Rebecca Shaeffer a few years back? I don't remember...I could have sworn they did, but I don't know why, the murderer was caught and sentenced.

Anyway, I have searched but I still can't find the name of the actress in question. But I remember the story.

There was a story about an aspiring actress named Crystal Spencer that was murdered in California. She was found dead in her apartment and had been dead for days. They think she was murdered but I think they were never really sure of her cause of death. Some of the neighbors came forward after she was found and said they heard terrible screams one night coming from her apartment but were scared and didn't call the police. The boyfriend was interviewed in the story but was never considered a suspect. I also remember she was cremated and they scattered her ashes by the Hollywood sign. This might be the story you're thinking of.

Maybe. What was her boyfriend's name?

Her boyfriends name was Anton Kline and he seemed to be quite a bit older than her. I also remembered that she worked as an exotic dancer. Her body was badly decomposed when they found it and they found no evidence of drugs, alcohol or injuries on her body so her cause of death was undetermined but her family thinks it was murder.

Rebecca Schaeffer starred in I think it was called "My Sister Sam," she was stabbed by Robert John Bardo, who had been stalking her for a lengthy amount of time. He was enraged at her because she had appeared in some show on tv (can't remember if it was the Sam one), where she had been involved in a love scene. Bardo felt "betrayed," thought she was a "whore" for "sleeping around." At the time she was stabbed to death, she had been waiting around to audition or I think rehearse with someone for one of the Godfather movies. When Bardo rang the doorbell to her apartment, she had told him to leave her alone and she closed the door on him. Or maybe I think it was the second time he rang the doorbell and she opened the door, she got stabbed to death. She was an only child.
As for Dominique Dunne, the sad part was, she knew her boyfriend Sweeney had been obsessed with her for quite awhile, she had even written a letter to him telling him and I quote this "You are obsessed with the idea of me, not me" or something to that effect. He wouldn't back off. I think she was either going to break it off with him or he had already been dumped when she was strangled to death. In any case, the clincher is when it happened, she was with a co-star practicing lines when Sweeney rang the doorbell, she told him that this wasn't a good time, she was attempting to avoid him. He pleaded with her and told her he needed to talk to her, lured her outside. Meanwhile, her co-star was still in her house. Outside, they talked, he lost control, I think it was 'cause she made it clear to him she didnt'want to have anything to do with him. He strangled her, she struggled, she died. The thing that really gets me is how that co-star (he was male) was in her house the whole time!! HE COULD HAVE SAVED HER!!! But I guess the he said something like he didnt' know Dunne had been strangled.

Did anybody go to this site and look at it? It's so sad. There is this one photo of her portraying an abused character in an episode of "Hill Street Blues". The picture is of her w\ all this "make-up" on. Only it isnt make-up. Thats what her murder, John Sweeney did to her about a month (or around there) b4 he killed her. Crystal struggled as a stripper until her death in May of 1988. This topic posted is a question about an actress that was stabbed in 1985.

I've seen the E True Hollywood Story about Rebecca. It's so sad. She was only 21. I feel bad for her parents because she was an only child. Her boyfriend the director Brad Siberling must have been just heartbroken. Has anyone seen the film Moonlight Mile? It's very loosely based on Brad's experiences after Rebecca's death. That Robert Bardo who shot her is a bastard. From what I know about the case I don't think he even really has a reason why he did what he did. Did anyone know that Marcia Clark who failed to prosecute O.J. Simpson prosecuted Rebecca's killer?

Did anyone see the semi-autobiographical film Moonlight Mile written and directed by Brad Siberling who Rebecca was dating at the time of her death? I was just curious if there is any similarity between Rebecca Schaeffer and the character Diana in the film Moonlight Mile (2002). Like, the scene in the court room when the character Joe described how she was real, messed up and brutally honest. Or, was the courtroom scene part of the film a work of fiction? :confused:
