View Full Version : Favorite Prince album omalleyfan 08-24-2003, 05:34 PM you know how this works AKA 08-24-2003, 05:43 PM As far as overall albums go, I'd have to say Diamonds And Pearls. I really like his early '90s output (New Power Generation) the best. The Love Symbol Album is a close second, though. It contains my favorite Prince song of all time, "7." Lady T 08-25-2003, 02:08 AM Purple Rain is one of my favorite albums Kay Scarpetta 08-25-2003, 11:31 AM Purple Rain. I love that album. isiahthomas 08-25-2003, 04:15 PM 1999 & Purple Rain are my favorites °Bubbly Blonde° 08-25-2003, 05:57 PM I say Purple Rain or Controversy ABlairican Pie 08-25-2003, 10:57 PM I chose Lovesexy, because in 1988, I had a friend record that for me, and it was a total revelation. It got mediocre reviews, but I really got into it. I was into "Alphabet Street" and "eye no" and "Anna Stasia" and so many other songs I can't remember the names of. It was like a whirlwind of musical ideas revolving around a kind of theme, with the rhyme "rain is wet and sugar is sweet, clap your hands, stomp your feet..." going all the way through...."When two are in love"..."We're going to make love, only using words...girls first..." To me, getting into popular music after Christian music burnout, it was an epiphany. I think though that a lot of people ragged on the album because he is shown on the cover semi-nude, and everyone thought he was just being naughty, but he was being esoteric, like a birth symbol, as he explained. (When is he never being esoteric?;) ) Also I really got into 1999, which had some great tunes of course. "1999,"--didn't you just love the babes in the video? "Little Red Corvette", "Delirious," "Lady Cab Driver," and the especially naughty "Let's Pretend We're Married.":D Crimson and Clover 08-25-2003, 11:03 PM Purple Rain isiahthomas 08-26-2003, 02:54 PM Prince's album covers & pictures inside the album sleeve back in the day used to be off the hook. On the back of his self titled album that came out in 79, he's riding a horse butt naked LOL. Inside the album sleeve of his 1999 album, there is a picture of him laying on the bed with his pants pulled down a little so u can see his ass. His Lovesexy album cover was off the hook too. I remember him half naked on that album cover & i remember his song Alphabet Street. I liked that song but i never heard that album. Anybody see his Under The Cherry Moon & Graffiti Bridge movies? I never saw them. His Purple Rain movie will always be a classic. Appolonia was so cute back then. dandelion wine 08-26-2003, 10:24 PM Purple Rain vashti1999 06-21-2004, 10:06 PM As the resident Prince fanatic, I'm reviving a thread that was around before I joined SO, so if you didn't vote then, vote now. I guess N.E.W.S. and Musicology can be write-in votes. vashti1999 06-21-2004, 11:13 PM 1.Sign O The Times 2.1999 3.Purple Rain 4.The Black Album 5.The Gold Experience 6.Graffiti Bridge 7.Controversy 8.Dirty Mind 9.Around The World In A Day 10.Parade 11.Emancipation 12.Diamonds and Pearls 13.Lovesexy 14.The Rainbow Children 15.Musicology 16.O(+> 17.Crystal Ball 18.The Truth 19.For You 20.Prince 21.Chaos And Disorder 22.Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic 23.Come 24.New Power Soul 25.Batman 26.The Vault: Old Friends For Sale 27.N.E.W.S. crystals 06-22-2004, 01:06 AM I voted 1999 only because I like the song "1999". I think had Emancipation been a single (or possibly double) disc set, I'd like it better, but there's too much mediocre material drowning out the really good stuff vashti1999 02-17-2006, 02:06 PM I chose Lovesexy, because in 1988, I had a friend record that for me, and it was a total revelation.
