View Full Version : My math teacher is annoying.

We were doing our homework in class, and 10 minutes after we started working she goes, "Oh, yeah, if you don't write the full problem out you get no credit." This is the fifth day of school and her first time telling us. 10 MINUTES AFTER WE STARTED OUR WORK. She makes us write out word problems too. So pretty much the whole class had to start over. Annoying, yes?

Oh, and if we have questions about our homework, we have to ask them to her in number order......like if you had a problem with question 6, but somebody already asked about question 10...op, too bad for you. They must be in number order, because she "hates going back." Is it just me, or does that make absolutely no sense whatsoever? Maybe if we had the powers to read others' minds.

So what about you? Any annoying teachers?

Well that's stupid. The teachers job is to help you. I swear these teachers get worse and worse.

You're right. That is unreasonable. It sounds like this teacher has problems. Perhaps she can be made to see that her rules are making it hard even for students who want to learn, or perhaps she is too unreasonable to change. This is your chance to learn a really valuable lesson - that many of the situations you will encounter as an adult are not fair, and that you have to do the best you can under the circumstances.

My math teacher is annoying, too... He makes mistakes when he's doing problems ALL the time, and I get annoyed that I'm better at math than he is.

Some teachers are real idiots sometimes. They think their like the king/queen of the world just because their your teacher.

I would get a parent to complain or something. Cuz thats just pure laziness (her hating to go back).

That whole "hating to go back thing" is a bunch of BS.

If it ever happens that you have a question on ... let's say # 5 ... but someone already asked a question about # 8, raise your hand and ask your question about # 5 anyway. If she says "I hate going back" or something like that, simply state "Do damn bad. I have a question and you're required by state law and in your job description to answer it."

I certainly would, because she CANNOT refuse to answer anything related to the lessons being taught.

That's not right. Math is not my strong subject and if I had a question that the teacher refused to answer...ugh I don't even want to think about how pissed I would be.

But I don't know if I have any annoying teachers yet, I'll let you know after Tuesday. But of the 6 different teachers that I have, I have already had 3 of them in the past and I like them so it should be fine this year.

I thought your teacher sounded like a dingbat when you first wrote about how she told you that 10 minutes after you started. (Have you done any other assignments before day 5? I hope she accepted any assignments you guys turned in before her little rule. ) When I read further about her "not going back in question order" I knew she was really out of her mind. That is terrible. She doesn't want to "go back??" What is that? Going back a couple inches on the page. The problems in a book are all close together, so if she was REASONABLE, she would realize it takes nothing out of her time. That reminds me of an episode of Wonder Years where Kevin has a nutty teacher that could not have students rip out paper from spiral note books! Both his rule and your teacher's are equally quirky and, heck, downright bizarre. And I only thought teachers on TV were crazy! Too bad you can't change teachers.

And to answer your question, yes I have had annoying teachers, but no need to stroll down memory lane. :) None had any rules like yours though!

Sounds kind of like my ex-math teacher, only he got pissy if you asked him a question AT ALL. Aaaarrrrrrgh, I hate that man.

Back on topic...definitely complain or get a parent to complain. That woman shouldn't be allowed to teach like that.

Same here. :)

I hated Algebra 2 my senior year but I had a wonderful teacher for that class. Granted, I'm not majoring in anything that requires math, but you need at least a basic knowledge of math to get around in real life. You need to know how to balance your checkbook, how much to bring with you for groceries, etc. That kind of thing.

I took Accounting (a math-related class - ick!) my junior year in HS and it actually wasn't so bad. It's simple addition and subtraction. A bit of multiplying and dividing thrown in, too. It was actually pretty easy and I maintained B's all year in that class. :)

I think most math teachers are annoying. I had some weird ones in high school, but some were alright. I believe that classes like algebra, geometry, or calculus DON'T help you at all in life, unless you want to study in that area. The ONLY math class that I think is helpful for anyone is consumer math. i took that my senior year and we learned things like balancing a checkbook, doing taxes- real useful things! Plus it was really easy. Like when in life will I need to know how to do an algebretic equation, anyway?

i agree. i never took algebra. i can not get algebra. i admit i am not smart enough to get algebra. i took general math which was a consumer math class. i even took an income tax unit which i think has helped me in life a lot.

I have to agree lol. I absolutely hate math. Why? Because it just DOESN'T click for me. I don't have a math brain. I went practically twice a week after school to get help last year in math. It did help some, but I still found it very hard. It's always been my worst subject. :wallbang

I am terrible in math and I got thrown into AC trig this year. Hopefully the teacher is good because that's the only way I can get good grades in math.

I agree! Damn teachers! I'm sorry not all of them, but those kind make me mad  Why doesn't she just teach instead of making it hard on everyone because life's hard enough as is. I have put up with that kind of treatment too and it didn't help me at all. That's just plain stupid to say that she can't answer a question because it's "not in order" or whatever. I'd slap her in the face with an eraser (not really) but that makes me mad. I had a math teacher in junior-high that would not help us because she said we should already know how to do it. If I aleady knew how to do that crap then why did I have to come to school? She would show us only once how to do the lesson and then she'd sit at her desk for the rest of class (each class was 86 minutes) and if we asked for help, she'd get all snippy and tell us we should already know how to do it! I've always needed extra help in math. I don't like it, I find it boring. I'm more of a right-brained person and I prefer art, music. that sort of thing. But, if I ever would have had a math teacher that actually took time to teach me, then I could have gotten the hang of it b/c I'm actually pretty good at it. Then, high-school was even worse! NONE of the teachers wanted to teach! A few of them, but most played on the internet all day. I didn't think I was going to make it through Algebra II b/c all that he talked about was the Native Americans and how bad white people were and blah, blah, blah. You wouldn't believe the crap I had to listen to in a math class! I don't know why he wasn't a history teacher b/c he sure didn't want to teach math. Finally, in May he started teaching a little, but school would be over in June and he was trying to cover the whole book! Once, I can't remember exactly what he said, but he called us all white hillbilly crackers or something like that and my mom was livid. Nobody did anything about b/c we all just wanted out of his class. I passed. I don't know **** from shineola in algebra, but I'm finally out of high school and I'm thankful. I used to want to go to college but I'm burnt out from high school. I get sick of hearing about teachers not making any money. I don't know about other regions but here they make 30,000-40,000 a year and that's good money for this dinky place. It sure is a lot for the lack of teaching they do. Well, I'm sorry I wrote a book. To whomever it was with the annoying teacher maybe try getting out of that class if you can b/c a person shouldn't have to put up with that, but if you can't...hang in there. I did and I'm very glad that I did because you'll graduate soon enough.

Ive had teachers that would do stuff like that. I had an english teacher that was a real bitch. She would wait till people were halfway done with the assignment and then tell us we had to do it a certain way. I was like "OK bitch if you want us to do something you have to :censored: tell us." She got cussed out a lot.

You might, if you go into a scientific field, or even computer programming. But when in life will you need to have read one of history's great novels, or heard a great piece of music, or know anything about ancient Greece and the origins of mankind? Never. The school is doing education, not vocational training.

First of all everyone is right, that if you do have a question about a problem that the teacher has already passed, make her go back and answer it! In response to your question, yes, I have had a very rude and unhelpful teacher. My freshmen year in high school, I had this teacher for the second semester and she was very pregnant, well she was there for 2 days and then she had her baby and was gone for 6 weeks so we ended up with a sub. Well when the teacher got back she was rude to everyone and one day she said "If I had it my way, I'd be home with my baby!" I of course opened my big mouth and told her "Well then go home and be with your baby, because you obviously don't care about teaching!" Surprisingly I didn't get in trouble.
