First Michael Vick breaks his leg, then James Thrash almost breaks his neck, now Chad Pennington breaks his wrist. Preseason football is useless and should be eliminated. :soapbox:

View Full Version : Preseason Football is a joke!!! Brian Damage 08-24-2003, 02:01 PM First Michael Vick breaks his leg, then James Thrash almost breaks his neck, now Chad Pennington breaks his wrist. Preseason football is useless and should be eliminated. :soapbox: passionsfan79 08-24-2003, 02:07 PM i agree i hardly never watch preason football. its to boring ~LadyJess~ 08-24-2003, 05:47 PM Even though I watch all the Lions preseason games, I agree that the preseason sucks. 4 games is too long for football preseason. Hopefully no one else gets seriously hurt before the regular season starts. Brian 08-24-2003, 09:41 PM You can say the same for preseason baseball. Phil Nevin of the Padres dislocated his shoulder during a game in March and missed a lot of this season. He hasn't been 100% at all. dlemond 08-24-2003, 11:03 PM You need some sort of scrimmage. So there really is no alterntive. Teams would just play each other in non-league scrimmages and there would be injuries anyway. I hate the pre-season injury crap too, but I've watched football all my life and sometimes there are a bunch of mishaps, and sometimes there are barely any. And then there are a buttload that happen in the first two weeks-so you can't blame pre-season. At some point you have to be ready to play. Swimfan85 08-24-2003, 11:44 PM yah, I am ready for the regular season to begin!! Three'sCompanyrules 08-25-2003, 01:34 AM I agree the preseason is to long, but I think you need a couple of games so you can see who makes the rosters and who doesn't, how else can you determine if a rookie or a street free agent is good enough to make a roster, if they had no preseason games then you might miss out on a hidden jem, like a Kurt Warner or Jeff Garcia. As everyone else said, I to hate the injury thing is popping up almost all camps it seems good player are getting hurt when the games don't count. Maybe the NFL will work something out in the future. Small Wonderian 08-25-2003, 07:14 AM I agree that although the preseason is meaningless, there has to be some sort of scrimmage in order to see where your team's their strengths and weaknesses are. But great times are just ahead.... The first NFL regular season game Sept. 4 - 9:00 pm on ABC New York Jets @ Washington Redskins isiahthomas 08-25-2003, 04:47 PM Amp2k3 u live in Cleveland? The Browns are horrible in preseason so far. They are 0-3. They lost to Detroit Saturday 38-17. I hope the Browns do better this yr in the regular season & hopefully they can get farther in the playoffs. If Cincinnati & Baltimore end up having a better record than Cleveland this yr, i'm done with them. Small Wonderian 08-25-2003, 04:56 PM Originally posted by isiahthomas Amp2k3 u live in Cleveland? If Cincinnati & Baltimore end up having a better record than Cleveland this yr, i'm done with them. Cleveland is not my favorite NFL team. My team is the Washington Redskins and I live in Virginia. I'm just using their logo as a theme for right now. I have also used the Redskins, Packers, and Lions as themes so far. isiahthomas 08-25-2003, 05:48 PM Your team is the Redskins? LOL they got a long way to go. They haven't been good since Joe Gibbs was their coach LOL. What part of Virginia u live in? I used to live in Alexandria, Virginia. I love the Alexandria, Springfield, Arlington areas. Small Wonderian 08-25-2003, 05:51 PM Originally posted by isiahthomas Your team is the Redskins? LOL they got a long way to go. I live in the Tri-Cities (Hopewell, Colonial Heights, Petersburg area). And I know the Redskins have a long way to go, but we're almost over the hump. As long as we have 7-9 and 8-8 records, we're close to doing something great. ~LadyJess~ 08-25-2003, 07:55 PM Originally posted by isiahthomas Amp2k3 u live in Cleveland? Hopefully they do well in the regular season. isiahthomas 08-26-2003, 03:09 PM How was the Cleveland & Detroit game a good game when it was a blowout? LadyJess what's the quarterback's name who used to play for Cleveland as a backup a couple of yrs ago behind Tim Couch? He plays for Detroit now i think. ~LadyJess~ 08-26-2003, 07:49 PM Originally posted by isiahthomas How was the Cleveland & Detroit game a good game when it was a blowout? Well I think any game the Lions win is a good game. It doesn't have to be close to be good, IMO, how many blowouts do the Lions have anyway? I don't know what QB you're talking about. The only QB's Detroit has are Harrington, Mike McMahon, Ty Detmer, and Curt Anes but he's a rookie. Sorry to jump in the conversation :o , but I figured out who he was talking about. It was Ty Detmer. :) ~LadyJess~ 08-26-2003, 07:52 PM Originally posted by amp2k3 Sorry to jump in the conversation :o , but I figured out who he was talking about. Yeah, he was the one that played against the Lions one year and threw like 6 interceptions in that game. ~LadyJess~ 08-26-2003, 08:09 PM Originally posted by amp2k3 Yeah, he was the one that played against the Lions one year and threw like 6 interceptions in that game. Hmm...I remember the game where he played FOR the Lions and threw 7 interceptions but not the other way around. You may be right, but I did know he played for Cleveland for like one or two seasons, then went to Detroit. isiahthomas 08-27-2003, 11:48 AM Ty Detmer threw 6 interceptions in a game against Detroit when he played for Cleveland? Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha i didn't know that. I didn't know he threw 7 interceptions for Detroit either. Damn that's terrible. LadyJess who is that in your avatar picture for Detroit Lions? ~LadyJess~ 08-27-2003, 06:02 PM Originally posted by isiahthomas Ty Detmer threw 6 interceptions in a game against Detroit when he played for Cleveland? I agree, Joey Harrington is going to be a great QB, Detriot is going to be a much improved team this year, and may just may make the playoffs this year. Its unfortunate that the RB Stewart got hurt, hopefuly he won't be out long. I also believe that Detriot has the best preseason record in the NFC North. ~LadyJess~ 08-29-2003, 03:59 PM Originally posted by Three'sCompanyrules I agree, Joey Harrington is going to be a great QB, Detriot is going to be a much improved team this year, and may just may make the playoffs this year. Yeah, Detroit had the best preseason record in the NFC North, even though it was only 2-2. Detroit 2-2 Green Bay 2-3 Chicago 1-3 Minnesota 1-3 Most people are only expecting the Lions to go 6-10 at the most this year, but I wouldn't be surprised if they went 8-8 or even made the playoffs. Hopefully Stewart recovers from his shoulder injury, but Coburne seems to be a pretty decent backup. Xxshelly06xX 09-02-2003, 12:30 PM as much as i love the patriots they just mad the stupidest move ever. they released Lawyer Milloy, team captain and 4 time pro-bowler, due to salary cap reasons. Mr. Television 09-02-2003, 06:22 PM Detroit Lions RB James Stewart is out for the year. The Lions signed Olandis Gary and he may play Sunday. Xxshelly06xX 09-03-2003, 07:10 PM milloy.signed.with.the.bills...wow, really just wow...i don't know why he would wanna play with bledsoe again...as good as he is bledsoe folds under pressure. Brian Damage 09-03-2003, 07:18 PM That Bills defense is going to be pretty good this year. Mr. Television 09-03-2003, 07:51 PM I bet the New England fans are angry he signed with a rival. Xxshelly06xX 09-03-2003, 08:31 PM yes we are!!!!! but milloy was...to but it bluntly, bad last year as compared to other years. but he will still be missed...i was hoping he would go into the nfc, so we wouldn't see him anymore. but it's not like he was our best player, we still have Vinatieri, brady, washington, who should be a great addition to our defense, it broke up the 'law firm' of ty law and lawyer milloy...but i'd rather have ty law on my team then lawyer milloy. Lucylover22 09-03-2003, 08:41 PM Pre season is very stupid! Too many injuries and boring! Go Pack Go!!! |
