When I think of the 90s, I think of 3 things...

The Gulf War
The OJ Simpson trial
....and for entertainment, I think of Seinfeld.

Ahh, the 90's!!! From the age of when I was 6 (in 1990) to when I was 15 (in 1999). :D


Well, I think that 1990 was an extension of the 1980's. 1991 was the transition year into a new decade, imo.

I was 4½ at the turnover to 1990 and 14½ at the end of 1999. :)

IMO, I think 1990 and 1991 were extensions of the 80's. Up here, the neon clothing and big hair didn't start to fade until late in 1992. So IMO, 1992 was the transition year for the people up here. :)

Yeah the early 90's did seem a bit 80ish. I Was only a little kid but i remember alot of it. MC Hammer was so big at the time they gave him a saturday morning cartoon, And i actually watched it :lol:

:rofl: I don't remember that but I do remember a lot of other stuff. My kindergarten teacher in 1990 had really bizarre hair...See attached pic. :eek: I last saw her in May of this year and she looks NOTHING like this picture at all. NOTHING.

:crazy: How do you remember that? :confused: The first thing I remember is the morning of my tonsil removal surgery (can't spell the :grr: medical word for it) and that was when I was 2 in 1987. That is, the first really vivid memory I have. I remember ALL of the 90's, tho, because I have a really good memory.

Ummmm. I can't even remember when the OJ trial started..I think it was 1992? Or 1993? I'm embarrassed...I was between 6 to 8 years of age and I have zero memory of it...It's like I blocked it completely from memory or something. :eek: :o

:crazy: I can remember just about everything...I DO remember being 8 going on 9 in 1994, but for the life of me, I cannot remember the OJ trial...the funny thing is it went on til like 1997 and I don't remember that either...I think it was because I didn't get into current events til I was in 7th grade. :o

The O.J. Trial didn't start until 1994. I was almost 11 when his ex-wife, Nicole and Ronold Goldman were killed in June 1994.

Let's see... what was it about...? Basically, O.J. was charged with both their murders and was found not guilty in 1996. It was considered the most outrageous and most famous trial of the century.

Gosh, I am slower than molasses! I type up my last post, and I find like 4 other posts have beat me to it! Better that you posted a website about the trial, AKA. I wasn't going to say more than a couple sentences on that subject. LOL.

Okay, the 90s: I went on about the 80s in the other thread, so I can't turn my back on the 1990s, the decade I really got to be a part of. Truth is, I don't think it was anywhere near as good as the 80s, but since the 1990s was a big part of my childhood and such, I like it a lot too. Like a few of you that posted above, I equate the early 90s with the 80s too--the late 80s. There were a lot of similiarities with hair styles, clothes and even music. The decade didn't really become the 90s (according to my memory) until about 91, even 92. When things changed then, I really liked the new music, and clothes the came with the decade (thanks to the grunge persuasion. Thank you Seattle. ;) ). TV was decent. Same with movies. But I'll tell you, I wasn't sad to see the 90s go like I was with the 80s. Infact, I said a big old GOOD BYE I guess because things got boring at the end of the decade.

I think some of the things that most defined the 90's were: school shootings, Tupac and Biggie, DVD's, video games, and bad taste.

Also, the Simpson's, South Park, and Beavis and Butthead.

Gosh all of the above mentioned but also Flannels REMEMBER FLANNELS I use to have A TON of them

Monica Lewinsky. Tanya Harding/Kim Carrigan. Bill Clinton. George Bush 'No New Taxes!' John Bobbit. Oklahoma City Bombing. Those are all things I remember from the 90's. Although, I dont think the bombing will make the I Love The 9's list.

I remember the Oklahoma City bombing. I was in a McDonalds in Arkansas and they had a tv on turned to that. Everybody started freaking out.

it'll be quite awhile before it happens, because I think more times need to pass for the 90's to become "nostalgic", a lot of things from the late 1990's are still around (Britney, Justin, etc..)

In 10 or so years when it happens... this is part of what I think will be in each year solely for tv, music and film

If anyone follows football......some NFL teams had some coloful and creative logos in the 90's.


Here is the Denver Broncos helmet from the early 70's to mid 90's

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers helmet with logo from 1976 to 1996......

the Seattle Seahawks helmet used when they were in the AFC (used all throughout the 90's)

the Atlanta Falcons helmet with logo (used up until this year).....

Yeah, and it seemed like that when the team switched colors, the team has had a lot of winning success and it has even translated into a Super Bowl title. :D

which was AWESOME.. they played really crappy though on saturday :( thank goodnes it was just a preseason game! The defense looked really good though!

My Washington Redskins played really crappy during their first two preseason games. They finally got it together on Saturday and they beat their "Beltway rivals" the Baltimore Ravens 24-3.

We should have kept Norv Turner, though. He finally had the right formula for success when he led us to our first NFC East title since 1991 and our only playoff apperance since 1992. :(

Yep, slap bracelets were late 80's to early 90's. I think they quit being popular in around 1992 or 1993.

And you can't forget Pogs...That was the THING to have back then. I think appx. 1995/96 would be appropriate.

Yeah, good call. Those were the years I remember. I used to have big tube of pogs! I still have about all of them, but I lost the tubes. Later I got some pog game, and I stlil have that with most of my pogs in it!

You can sell yours on eBay...Have one of your parents help you sell your stuff on eBay. I am over 18 now and I have a HUGE collection (about 200) of magazines dating back to 1998 and a few back to 1995. I don't need most of those mags anymore so I am just going to sell my mags on eBay. :) :lol:
