ROC was a sitcom that aired on FOX from 1991-1994. It's being aired on Nick at Nite on Fridays as part of Black History Month.

What is it about?

The show is about a black man named Roc Emerson who worked as a garbage man in Baltimore, MD. His wife's name is Eleanor who is a nurse. His prettyboy/playboy unemployed brother Joey lives with them along with Their father Andrew Emerson. This show had lots of controversial topics. It featured guest stars like Jamiee Foxx,Heavy D, En Vogue. Alexis Fields(Kim Fields' sister) joined the cast in 1993 as "Sheila" Roc and Eleanor's foster daughter.

I seem to remember this show taping live. Does anyone else recall that?

Actually I do remember. It aired live a couple of times. I think it was to boost the ratings which I guess didnt work. That was a pretty good try though. Going live is not an easy task.

It aired live more than a "couple of times".

There was a whole season of live ROC episodes. About 6 years before there was such a big Hype about ER doing the same thing once, it was being done on ROC every week.
