A drug lord who pretends to overthrow the Mexican government. A corrupt CIA agent (Johnny Depp) who at that time, demands retribution from his worst enemy to carry out the drug lord's uprising against the government.

The film is based on the story of a drug lord Barrillo, who pretends to overthrow the Mexican president. Within the drama, another of the principal persons is a corrupt CIA agent Sands who at that time, demands retribution from his worst enemy in order to carry out the drug lord's uprising against the government. Mariachi is recruited by Sands to take out Gen. Marquez (has a huge score to settle with the Mariachi), who has major beef with Mariachi to begin with. He sends Cucuy (the muscle for Sands) to shadow and keep tabs on the Mariachi. Marquez is working with Barrillo, and is about to assassinate El Presidente and assume power. Sands also convinces Jorge Ramirez (retired-FBI, has old scores to settle with Barrillo) to come out of retirement and take out Barrillo and Dr. Guevera (personal Dr. to Barrillo, killed Jorge's partner a long time ago), who brutally tortured and killed Ramirez' FBI partner.

Johnny Depp is really cool! I don't know if that will catch my interest though. My favorite movies of his are: Nightmare on Elm Street, Chocolat, Edward Sissorhands, and Pirates. :)

I liked Depp in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" but that movie has possibly the saddest ending of any movie I have seen.

Don't forget "Fear & Loating" that movie cracks me up

Director Rober Rodriguez has been a very busy guy. When did he have the time to do this film between all the "Spy Kids" flicks?

I love the fact that Johnny Depp is in it with Antonio & Salma they are all good actors!

I wanna see Once Upon A Time In Mexico too. I wanna see it because of Eva Mendes. Eva is beautiful & she's sexy. I loved her in All About The Benjamins with Ice Cube & Mike Epps & she was Denzel's woman in Training Day. Johnny Depp is a great actor. I just saw Blow for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I gotta rent Donnie Brasco. This is a comeback movie for Antonio Banderas cause his last couple of movies have been garbage. I saw Femme Fatale with him & Rebecca Stamos & that movie was terrible & so was Original Sin with him & Angelina Jolie. I did like his Ballistic movie with Lucy Liu.

I saw a "making of" show about this film earlier today. Johnny Depp looks like he had fun playing his character. He's a rogue CIA agent who really enjoys violence. Also it seems that Salma's chracter has been reborn as the buttkicking galpal of the Mariachi.

I love a girl who can take care of herself...
