In another classic tv site, I read that the Hallmark channel has purchased the rights to this series and the show is set to air in the fall of next year. I don't know if this is true or not . . . can anybody confirm this . . . PAVAN?

Very false. Please give a link, so I can see this.

They haven't purchased the rights, CBS isn't going to sell the rights to TAGS. I also can't see TVLand allowing Hallmark to obtain the series although I'd much rather watch it on there.

I'm having some problems with getting the link of the site. Instead, I will supply the directions, the post that gave the news, and the source.

First, the directions:
1) Go to TV Land Online
2) Click on the sign "TV Land Message Boards"
3) Click The Andy Griffith Show under the "TV Land Shows" section of the forum.
4) Click the thread "The Hallmark Channel purchased The Andy Griffith Show"
5) From there you should the message.

Second, the message:
The Hallmark Channel purchased The Andy Griffith Show

Fans,
Say goodbye to TV Land and say hello to The Hallmark Channel.

The Hallmark Channel bought the network rights of The Andy Griffith Show away from the Viacom sister cable network TV Land.

TV Land will no longer air The Andy Griffith Show after January 1, 2005 that they'll switch over to The Hallmark Channel as the new permanent home.

Keep it posted for a further update.

Third, the source:
According to the guy that posted that particular message said he got the news from the Andy Griffith site.

That could be true, the reason I said false info is because you said next fall. TV Land DOES lose the rights by the end of 2004, but that is a while away, so anything can happen. I'll try to find more info, but that guy doesn't give a correct source, there is nothing on the official TAGS website on this.
