To be fair, the new owners wanted to fix it up because it was decrepit and needed lost of work, no improvements had been made in decades, Lucy even still had rotary dial phones. BUT, it looked so good with those HUGE trees and that great landscaping back then, now it looks cold, but it must look a lot better inside though.

I love rotary dial phones. Just found a shop near me that still sells them, so I'm going to buy one! Yes, changing the subject completely, I know, but I want to stand up for rotary dial phones, damn it! They all have absurdly large receivers that are way too big for my head, and they're all chunky and heavy. Way nicer than nasty tappy push button things.

They're nice! I like the noise the dial makes when it going round, and they have far less annoying rings. Granted most of them (in the UK, anyway) seem to be a rather unfortunate shade of green, but I'm sure there must be other colours...

This is Lucy in 1977 showing her "Outstanding Women in Film" award.

I wonder if this was from when Lucy did that ice skating publicity stunt and was told that she shouldn't purposly fall on the ice, because she wasn't trained properly, but she did anyway and ended up staying 10 days in the hospital?

I saved all my pictures in a folder in My Documents and never made any backup and my computer died. :( But the strange part is I still do that, so if the computer I have now dies I would be in the same boat?? Now explain that? Just how dumb am I? :eek: Wait, don't answer that!

As a big time Lucy and Desi fan, it always bothered me that Desi's father is never mentionned or pictured, or seldom anyway. I remember seing a pic of all three generations one time, but i never knew when he died or anything, if Desi saw him, if they all got together or what? Desi's mom, we know died after Desi in an old folks home not recognizing Lucie when she went to visit, but you so seldom hear anything about the father, after he and Desi's mom divorced.

You will find it so great, i refer to it every time i watch any Lucy show, because the author has background info on each episode and sometimes stories from the people who were actually there, it makes for great reading, even if the author is too harsh on her later work. Congrats on winning the book.

Here's the best pic I've ever seen of Desi's father & the rest of the family. It's from " A Book" (the other was too). I'd like to see a young pic of him, though.

Everybody in Cuba is 'a little dark' as "Grandpa Hunt" so untactfully put it! They used to say that on the whole island there was nobody who could honestly say what colour they were. Hence no colour prejudice. Nice way to be. :)

The thing is that in CUBA; MOST of the population is BLACK and DESI was one of the few lucky that was white. so I dunno why it was such a big of a deal to call him INDIAN or been a racist towards him. He looked great all tanned

Well, he's much too young to have been there, but he did interview lots of people and sure did his research, unlike some OTHER authors!

That's the way I like to think of them too. Like in "Lucy & Desi: A Home Movie," when they were newlyweds they seemed to be having so much fun, it was cute.
