I don't remember reading too many positive reviews of Wings from TV critics. One critic who I remember was a big Wings fan was that Couch Critic guy from TV Guide. I can't remember his name right now. He hasn't worked for TV Guide for a few years. I always liked reading his articles, whether I agreed with him or not.

Personally, I don't listen to anyone who's job is to sit around and watch TV. (Although it still sounds better than my job.)

The Couch Critic loved "NewsRadio." I didn't realized he liked "Wings" too, but I'm glad. I once read in a old Entertainment Weekly a review for "Wings" sixth season. They pretty much dissed the show, but mentioned how the departing Thomas Haden Church always made him laugh.

As for critics, I read what they say, but no matter what they say about a show, I always check it out before I decide whether to watch it again or not. Still though, it feels good when they like a show that I like. If not for critics, "Andy Richter Controls the Universe" would have just been a failure. At least this way it's called "critically acclaimed".

And anyways, what makes a critic's word so important? I care more about what everyone here at the board thinks about the show than someone getting paid to give their thoughts on the show.

We're keeping the show around, even if N@N gives it up, just us coming here and talking about "Wings" will keep it around.

I never did like Entertainment Weekly. I think it's a dumb magazine that focuses on what is popular at the time. I'm not surprised they didn't like Wings.

I don't understand people who only watch a TV show based on what critics say about it. That's awfully narrow-minded, IMHO. I'll read critics' reviews, but I watch a show myself to see if I like it or not.

I usually don't pay attention to critics, either. Not too often. I do like to read Matt Roush's article in TV Guide. He loves "24", and that's one of the reasons I started watching it from the start, not to mention I always really liked Kiefer Sutherland. But when a TV show is going to premiere and they 'exclaim' "from the producers of so & so and so & so". That does nothing for me.

I'm still waiting to hear questions about Wings on "Beat the Geeks". You never know!

I already mentioned this in another post, but by and large the critics bashed Wings, which always upset me.

I can't stand the TV critic in Entertainment weekly, I never agree with him.....I know the job of the critic is not to be "liked" but to be objective. But they don't always seem to adhere to that principal. There are cerain shows that get a ridiculous amount of praise that just aren't worthy of it. It's like the old "payola" system in the music business. Some of these critics must have been bought off.

Critics can bash "Wings"....I don't enjoy it when it happens, but I can accept it....

What REALLY bothers me is when OTHER TV shows and stand-up comedians make fun of "Wings"!

It was especially fashionable to ridicule the series when it was having numerous showings on USA.

I heard about one particularly obnoxious slam....I think that it was on "The Simpsons", but I'm not sure...

Anyway, the family is sitting in front of the TV and you hear an announcer say, "Tonight on "Wings"....Who CARES?".

THAT'S the kind of stuff that frosts me!

Entertainment Weekly once called Tony Shalhoub the best thing about a bad show...

I think it was the one when Homer and Bart joined the Big Brothers program. I can't remember the tile right now.
