The 70's sitcom message boards are an active bunch, so I am going out on a limb here and thinking there might be a few of you who might be interested in this. ... Tonight and every night this week at 9pm, VH1 is running two hours of their new special "I Love the 70's" I am hoping all of our favorite shows and memories will be mentioned! I have my VCR set and ready!

I hope they mention Here's Lucy and the ending of the Lucille Ball sitcom era (1951-1974).

They'll be mentioning Happy Days in 1974 and Laverne & Shirley in 1979. To view the complete list of what shows are mentioned for each year, check Pavanbadal's post below:

I had so much fun watching this last night, and I hate to say it, but I thought it kicked their I Love The 80s special out of the water. Not that I didn't get a really big kick out of I Love the 80s, but this was... I dunno, I just had more fun.

Leif Garrett, Ponch, those weebles, Lite Brites, The Electric Company, Carol Burnett - I could go on and on. Really looking forward to 1974, and especially 1977-1979.

I can't wait for 1973...

We had a Lite Brite in the early 90s lol. I loved the segment about the Weebles. That was THE PERFECT slogan for ANY PRODUCT: "Weebles wobble but they don't fall down!" Definatly looking forward to all of the other nights! ESPECIALLY 1975-1979. I hope they mention "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman." That show was a craze in the 70s.

I'm watching it now, they're doing 1973. I can't believe some of these women saying how sexy they thought Kojak was.

They've only shown her once, and I believe it was for 1971, so you'll see her.

You're welcome. Oh, and be sure to look for her in 1975. They've been concentrating on the other celebs quite a bit, so that's why I missed her the first time. :)

Yes, I got to see Robert Hegyes and John Travolta in 1975.

Tonight, I'll hopefully see Michael McKean.

I love this whole 70's week they're doing.

Too many commercials though.

I was watching "I Love the '70s" this week and during commercial break they had a promo about a new mini-series which is called "I Love the '80s: Strikes Back" and it will be coming to VH1 in October. It will be a sequel to "I Love the '80s" and they will talk about what the first series hadn't covered, I definately anxious to see what they will talk about in the continuation.

:soapbox:

Donal Logue...you CANNOT do an English accent. So stop trying.

And I'd be careful who I called washed-up. I mean, dude...who the hell are you anyway?? Grounded For Life is not classic TV material.

This has been a great blast down memory lane...

I was actually born in 195.... ??? (tee hee, I'll never tell! ) BUT I was in 6th grade when the decade started and spent my whole Jr. Hi, HS and College career in the 70's. What a way to remember those teenage years!

I saw the commercials (and yes there were WAY too many of those, that is why I did tape it) for the I Love the 80's strikes back. They said some time in October. I know you can't really cover one year in an hour. I would love to see them revisit the 70's with more too sometime. I was glad to see Freddie Prinze get mentioned briefly, but nothing on his show and nothing on lots of other good shows and movies from the 70's. I was a bit disappointed that there was no mention of the Star Trek movies. But an hour is never enough time to get to everyones favorites really..... :(

actually Lucky Mama they Mention the Star Trek movies when they cover 1977 hehe I REMEMBER because My Favorite Panelist AND Favorite Actress (Jorja Fox) said Hans Solo was her 3rd biggest Childhood crush
never mind what I just said she said STAR TREK NOT STAR WARS I'll be quite now hehe

I just have 1 question in 1975 WHY DID THEY SKIP THE rocky horror picture show ???!!!lol I was waiting for it...and plus in the commercials witht he little kids playing, for the 1975 card they say something about the Sweet Transvestite...and I looked it up on VH1 like their summary for that year...and it was there........??

I agree, re: Rocky Horror.... I was very surprized! I was also surprised they didn't do more about disco either, considering what a music phenomonon it was (not that I was a big fan).

Something I did notice an absence of was famous deaths and political stuff too. They mentioned the Ford attempted assasination, but no mention of Watergate or Elvis' death.
