View Full Version : Beaver TV Episodes on DVD ??? Sherlee 08-18-2003, 01:08 AM Beaver on DVD or Video Does anyone know if there will ever be Leave it to Beaver Episodes out on DVD or Video? B&W fan 08-18-2003, 10:42 AM Of course all of us here would love to see it happen. But the reality is that Leave it to Beaver is the property of Universal Studios - and there couldn't be a worse studio out there today! Universal is up for sale right now because it is doing so poorly. And they've shown that they are reluctant to get into the dvd craze like other companies have (Fox and Columbia Tri-Star are two of the best). I have very little hope of ever seeing Beaver out on DVD or VHS (and no company in their right mind would put anything out on vhs at this point - it's dying). Unfortunately, Universal owns the rights to some of my favorite tv and movie series. They own most of the Abbott & Costello films, and don't plan on putting them out on dvd. They own LITB, The Munsters, and I believe they own The Six Million Dollar Man. All of these shows are worthy of dvd season set releases, but Universal isn't gonna do it. They are way, way behind on this issue, and have no current plans to do anything with these classic series. B&W "my info is straight from some higher ups at Universal, so I'm not kidding - it's really sad that this is the attitude they've taken in regards to dvd sets" fan UncleBilly 08-18-2003, 02:41 PM You said Universal is up for sale right now. That could be a good thing. If another studio buys it maybe there will be DVD releases of the Universal titles in the future. We can only hope! I'd say our only hope would be that some rich billionaire that happens to have a personal love for the show buys the company and just insist it be put out on dvd (even at the risk of losing money). Well, we know the chances of that are about as slim as it snowing in Florida in July. B&W "I hate to put a damper on our enthusiasm and hope to see this show on dvd - I want it more than anyone!! - but from every reliable source I'm aware of it isn't on the horizon at all" fan lukes42 10-28-2003, 11:23 PM Actually, it appears that NBC/General Electric has bought Universal Studios. The new company will be named NBC Universal. Here are the details: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1996743 I don't know if this is a good thing though...NBC can be pretty stingy in releasing it's own properties for purchase/right agreements. Kristina 11-03-2003, 06:21 AM I wish the series would be released on DVD, I'd definitley buy it. MikeZ 11-19-2003, 06:01 PM LITB would be one of the first series I would buy.....followed by Andy Griffith show, and many, many more!!! The Modfather 11-19-2003, 06:16 PM One question; how can't it already not be out on DVD? As you can see I'd love to have it out on DVD. MikeZ 01-25-2004, 05:50 PM here is an auction of 99 episodes on DVD... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3656664465&category=41587 I don't think this is an official release, I think they probably are self-made copies.....ack! junecleaver 01-25-2004, 07:09 PM naw, if they were a release then they'd most likely come out on DVD first, and they'd be advertised MikeZ 01-25-2004, 07:15 PM there are some pretty good episodes there...but I would worry a little about the quality of the dvd's. I will wait until the "official" ones are available. |
