View Full Version : Best Final Episode?
Lady T 08-16-2003, 12:19 AM What is sitcom, or sitcoms, had the best final episode, that left you crying, or feeling Hey, they did an awesome job, or damn, I am going to miss this show, because the characters became part of you in a way, or like family?
Chad22 08-16-2003, 12:25 AM Happy Days & Newhart.
Agent 99 08-16-2003, 02:27 AM Newhart has to be the funniest, most clever finale I've ever seen.
Sitcomwriter 08-16-2003, 06:41 AM "Newhart" and I actually also enjoyed the final "Mad About You".The finale "Seinfeld" was the WORST!
Tonight is the series finale of "Just Shoot Me".Will it make the list? We'll see....
Central Perk 08-16-2003, 11:38 AM Ally McBeal had the best final episode, imo. It was sad but it was great to see Richard getting married to Liza. I also enjoyed seeing the return of Georgia, Billy, and Renee.
DianeChambers87 08-16-2003, 11:41 AM Cheers and Newhart
Christopher 08-16-2003, 12:36 PM The Golden Girls.
musicradio77 08-16-2003, 01:55 PM The best final episode of all time is "Full House". I saw the 2-part finale when Michelle fell and hurt her head while riding a horse. After that, Michelle met the other Michelle that they looked identical for the part in which the Olsen Twins played together to regain her consciousness and at the end, they had such precious moments and their upclose family. I saw that on TBS last year as well as the marathon on WB11 back in June.

phoebe7165 08-16-2003, 02:08 PM Golden Girls!! Who didn't laugh with tears in their eyes when Dorothy kept running back into the house?
Newhart-bringing Emily back was hands down, PURE GENIUS!!
I also liked how they ended Wings, with Helen finally being able to follow her dream of playing the cello in the orchestra.
supershaun 08-16-2003, 03:14 PM If I had to choose a best final episode I have to say the Fresh Pri nce of Belair.
Brian Damage 08-16-2003, 03:38 PM Cheers and Mary Tyler Moore Show were good.
Crimson and Clover 08-16-2003, 03:39 PM Golden Girls, Family Ties and Happy Days
dandelion wine 08-17-2003, 01:26 AM Family Ties (Had me crying, too)
Happy Days
Cheers
Sitcomwriter 08-17-2003, 01:30 PM Well, I saw the JSM finale last night. It was pretty good but it was really just your run-of-the-mill finale.
LucyFan 08-18-2003, 03:29 AM I think the best finale episode of a sitcom is "The Last Show" (#168) of Mary Tyler Moore. That particular episode was beautifully written and had many touching moments.
Others worth mentioning:
- The Wonder Years
- Happy Days
- Three's Company
- The Lucy Show

I absolutely could not agree more, LucyFan!! (Big surprise, huh?? ) When I saw this post, I just had to throw in my 2 cents!

Although it wasn't an official finale, I like the last episode produced of IDJ--"Hurricane Jeannie". Although it was a dream sequence, I felt it gave some closure with it's "what if Dr Bellows found out."
The Newhart finale was also brilliant--not just the ending but I the goofy premise of turning the town into a Japanese golf course/resort.
"Hey Dick, I bet you never seen an all-millionaire production of Fiddler on the Roof."
