Yep, Spybot and Ad-Aware. Do Google searches for them to get their official sites. :)

Thanks! :) I never thought of downloading spyware removers until I realized I had something called Xupiter on my computer. :mad:

As posted above, Ad Aware and Spybot both work wonders.

That's not all...I also have Comet Cursor, something called Hotbar, and Gator. :mad: :( I couldn't ifnd a place where it would remove them for free though, only scan for free. :(

I recommend Ad-aware and spybot..




Spyware can be as bad as watching what you do, to using your modem to dial long distance costing you hundreds, to getting you arrested (even when you did nothing wrong),

list goes on and on...

Yeah, those work wonders. I've never had anything other than cookies for the most part, but it's nice knowing that if I do get anything I can always fall back on them. :)

My old computer had Gator and Comet Cursor on it and it was really screwed up.

:eek: I had 97 spyware programs on my computer. I got Ad-Aware just a few minutes ago. Damn, glad I did that, and I didn't even have Kazaa on my computer.

Ive seen some logs of scans with 300-400+ spyware components... I can't imagine how slow their comp was running lol...

Wowo, would all of that crap from my computer last night have been causing my computer to run as slow as it was? It was so ridiculous it was taking minutes long to load a normal website. That would explain so much!

Today i saw some logs of scans with 500-1,000 Components, most were cookies though...




Yea spyware can slow down a computer... Usually the spyware is set to load at startup as well... Making turning on the computer take even longer..

I downloaded Spybot recently, and found a lot of spyware on my computer. I thought I'd gotten rid of that Comet Cursor and Hotbar stuff.. still on there. I should've downloaded it a LONG time ago. Haven't had any problems like I used to.

Yes, it is. I downloaded that sucker a few years ago and it was still on there when I did a scan with Spybot. I couldn't believe all the stuff I found! Oh, and I agree about Gator. What a pain. :(

Its about damn time that many people these days are finally doing scans and getting rid of the yucky stuff... lol

I have ad-ware for my work computer now i just downloaded it.. thanks for the link!! I had over 65 spyware programs on it :p. Does anyone know of an adware program for macintosh OS X? I could really use one of those for my computer at home! Thanks a bunch!
