Hey guys! just wanted to say hi, now that I'm back in the good ole USA patriot: I had a REALLY fun time trying to change planes at Detroit metro airport during the blackout :rolleyes: it was not good. But I made it! :wave: After a year away, it's already strange being home. But, I'll live ;)

Sorry for your bad luck in Detroit. but I'm glad you are home.:)

Nothing much exciting here but a bunch of fights with our Bad Boys M82A1 and UZI4U over in the politics board. My favorite threads are "A quote you Commies will LOVE" and ""Vigilantism". Oh I forgot--M82A1 left a special one for you called "For Liza..."

Welcome back! :wave: What a day to come back to, when most of the state of Michigan was without power. At my house we were out for 18 hours.

Ack! :eek: On August 12, 2000, we had a REALLY bad storm over here that knocked out power ALL over town (this was about 8,000 people), and it knocked out power at my place for 12 hours. :o I couldn't imagine not being without power nearly the whole day or even a week! We had something like that happen nearly 10 years ago in the wintertime here...Some towns were without power for a WEEK because it got so cold and snapped the power lines here. :o

Yeah and I had to drive around through most of it and all the traffic lights were out. It took me 3 hours to go less than 20 miles, it was defintly an experience.

Yeah, the blackout in Detroit was terrible. It was midnight my time and my flight was delayed, then cancelled, then reinstated. :rolleyes: Not fun. But I'm trying not to complain too much about the whole ordeal because honestly, I got lucky. They cleared out all of Detroit metro airport and wouldn't let anyone stay in the building if their flight was cancelled. People were turned out of the airport right before dark with nowhere to go. The airlines wouldn't pay for hotels cuz #1: there were so many people, #2 it wasn't their fault, #3 the hotels couldn't check anyone in anyway cuz all the computers were down! :eek: :( :eek: :( I got so lucky that my flight was reinstated at the last minute and we arrived six hours late (which, btw was 3am my time). I was LUCKY. I don't know what all of those poor people did that got turned out of the airport. :( This blackout was just terrible.

Anyways, hehe, I made it, and I missed ya all! :wave:

I hope your stay in Europe was both a profitable and enjoyable one! I trust you came back an improved person, correct? :king:


I can only imagine that it would take some adjusting after a year on the other side of the globe! The most notable difference that comes to mind are the car's steering wheel!
I wouldn't know. I've never been out of my own state. Ain't I a cultured one! :lol:

:lol: hey Max. Yeah, I'm definately a different person, but as far as I see it, this is a different country. ;) There have been so many changes that have taken place over the past year... oh boy. My perspective on world views has changed so much (I'm now minoring in political science) and... oh yeah, I can now buy alcohol here ;) I know I'm already starting to bug my parents with sentances constantly beginning with "In Germany they..." but oh well, I'll get over it :) (BTW, the steering wheel in the cars are the same side in Germany as in the US - but it was interesting when we went to London for a weekend! :crazy: )
