I just watched "Christmas in the Bighouse" and that was Nnacy playing the piano! I think she plays by ear, but here is how I can tell:

1. If you watched her lips she was counting the beat.

2. When the tune went high she looked up at the high keys and visa verca.

3. She was sorta 'moving' to the music-which is what alot of piano's players do.

WELL, I personally think she does and I actually do know what I'm talking about because I play the piano myself.

She tore that thing up http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

Merry Christmas!

Hopper: You know I am really a shy kind of guy,but I have been watching you from across the cabin, and I said to myself,"Hopper don't let this one slip away!"

Jo: You know I have been watching you too.You have a lot to be shy about!

Beverly Ann: Let's see. It's tomorrow in Africa so if I want to talk to Edna today then I should have called her yesterday...

Natalie: It's a busy day for me. I have to go down to the newspaper office, get a lung transplant...

Blair: But if I'm not perfect... and that's a *BIG* if, then it wasn't his place to say so.

Jo: You're right. It's my place to say so.

Yes I think she does play....I myself have been playing for 8 years, and I can tell that she was couting beats and sight reading the notes and looking at the right keys!

Jo: Blair, if you like that song so much, then why are you doing that to it?
Blair: Doing what?
Jo: Singing it like Julie Andrews.

Wow! I didn't know that Nancy McKeon could play the piano! I'm sorry I missed that episode. So, she was really good, huh? I've been playing for 12 years, myself, and I absolutely love it. I like to move to the music, too!

There's a little bit of Jo in everybody :)

Nancy also played in another episode, where she and Mrs. Garrett went on vacation together. Mrs. Garrett took off with the piano player at the hotel lounge for awhile (who, btw, was played by John Astin as I recall, father of McKenzie Astin, aka Andy). When they returned, Jo was playing piano at the bar.

The one thing I'm not sure of is if Nancy is playing piano at the SAME TIME as the recording. I play piano also, and I know how hard it is to get a good sound on a piano in recording. On a sound stage trying to record, I doubt that she was playing at the same time. She may have been, which would be cool, but I would think they would play the music as a "background" tape, to which the performers sang...

But, like I said, I may be wrong...
