I just finished watching the episode where Fred goes to the flop house, protesting Lamont and Julio going into business together.
Anyway, at the end, Fred is eating some of the leftover mofongo, the Puerto Rican dish that Ms. Fuentes has cooked.
Has anybody here tasted monfongo before? If so, how is it?

Mufongo is similar to an Italian snack that is primarily made of finely ground corn ("maize") and is mixed with kidney beans, melted cheese, among other things. (Some people will mix leftovers from dinner in there, too). You have to let it "set" (kinda like Jello), until it has a rubbery texture (like cold cheese on a slice of pizza). It's usually not prepared in a bowl, as we've seen on Sanford and Son, but in a flat baking pan, and then it's cut into squares when it's done setting. Usually eaten with soda crackers. Delicious!!

from what a puerto rican told me Mofongo is made from smashed plaintains. Not what you describe..what you describe is Quesadilla. Thats a mexican dish and not puerto rican. MOfongo is make with fried smashed plaintains and garlic sauce originally.

Well, if I had some mofongo, I'd spray some foot powder on it...

I thought Mufongo was something that grew on your neck if you did'nt bathe regularly.
