View Full Version : Favorite Lucy Look A likes?
*ShortCake* 08-14-2003, 09:15 PM ok.. since there are about 4646464 lucy look alikes who are your favoites ?? Mine are Suzanne LaRush (sp?) and Diane Vincent. I like Adrian Israel as the Desi look alike.. he's hilarious!! I never didget to meet Diane though at lucy desi days.
MagsLovesLucy 08-14-2003, 09:54 PM My favorites are the same as yours. ;) Diane Vincent was in Jamestown this weekend, she was in the parade and showed up at some of the events. I think she's very nice. I haven't had the chance to meet others though.
Hahaha, and I love your signature!!! I love Lucy Defenders Club, whoo hoo!! :D
*ShortCake* 08-14-2003, 10:47 PM Thank ya!! I met Adrien last time in may.. he was so cool!!! I really wanted to meet Diane though!!. I hate some of the Lucy Look Alikes though.. they dont look like her at all! grh.
SPLAIN 08-15-2003, 09:51 AM Was Suzanne the one that showed up on Rosie's show, and the audience went nuts, the next day, Rosie said something like, we won't be doing that again. It just floored the people there, and me too, she was so much like Lucy, it was incredible!
DianeChambers87 08-15-2003, 09:54 AM Am I the only person who thinks that if you take Fran Drescher and put a red wig on her she looks exaclty like lucy....THey have the exact same lips..
SPLAIN 08-15-2003, 10:01 AM As long as you don't say they had the same laugh! LOL!

I hate that laugh. And now it's on an Old Navy ad!!!
SPLAIN 08-15-2003, 11:30 AM Yeah, it bothers me too, but she's such a nice person, loves Lucy and just beat cancer, so i hope she has some kind of comeback at some point, you know, more than a commercial!
MagsLovesLucy 08-15-2003, 11:38 AM I love Fran Drescher. I wasn't aware that she had cancer, what kind was it? She's certainly overcome hardships in her life too...wasn't she raped or something? :( I love watching "The Nanny", and her voice isn't really that bad in real life, so I hope that she can make a comeback too. Plus, she's a veritable Lucy lover, so what's not to like? :D
SPLAIN 08-15-2003, 01:13 PM I think it was one of those women cancers. She went and fought with these doctors to get tests and they told her there was nothing wrong with her, in the meantime the cancer progressed because of their collective stupidity, she had to fight to get that last test done and it proved that she was a gonner, she saved herself through her persistence, and went through that divorce and lost her dog, poor thing, wish she would get something BIG soon!
Lodee 08-16-2003, 09:42 PM She was on The Restaurant as a customer. (or did you mean bigger than that?) Just kidding!!!!!
Mkaleek 08-17-2003, 11:51 PM Hey Guys I just watched Lucy&Desi: A Home Movie for the first time, and it was so good. I am in love with that documentary. Just thought I'd share my feelings with you guys.:talk:

Aww! I get choked up everytime at the end of that!
Here is a picture of Suzanne...isnt it freaky how she looks so much like Lucy??
SPLAIN 08-18-2003, 11:17 AM But it's more than just looks, she talks like her and moves like her, absolutely incredible, it's like Lucy was frozen in the fifties.

oh gosh i know!! its very eerie!!
SPLAIN 08-18-2003, 02:22 PM Like i said, Rosie had her on and i nearly passed out, i had never seen anybody DO Lucy like that, and the audience reacted so wildly that she said the next day, she would never do that again because of the response. She said something like, we won't have dead celebrities on here ever again, wonder what she meant? Some people actually thought that was Lucy?

wow!! I wish I had seen that episode of Rosie.
SPLAIN 08-18-2003, 03:18 PM And I wish i had taped it! But it was a surprise and wasn't billed or anything.
LUCILLE BALL 09-02-2003, 11:32 PM I have only met one professional Lucy Imperssonator, and that was Diane Vincente, I have, however, seen Suzanne on HSN. Suzanne does a little bit better at it than dianne, I think, but I have had the pleasure of knowing a REAL Lucy look a like. They don't realize they do, but they do. I am not the only one who thinks so either.
SPLAIN 09-03-2003, 09:32 AM Imagine being married to someone like that!
Mkaleek 09-03-2003, 03:19 PM Honestly, I don't even think Lucille Ball herself could have re-enacted Lucy Ricardo ever again after the series went off the air. It seems like in the sixties she became a new person, like she just left Lucy Ricardo behind forever. Her voice was much deeper, and her physical comedy simmered down a GREAT deal. Then again, thats just my opinion.
SPLAIN 09-03-2003, 03:40 PM Funny you should say that. I had this guy send me copies of The Lucy show and as i watched them on one set the other tv had TV Land and I Love Lucy on it and it looked and felt like two totally different people like you said! Jess Oppenheimer might have sued her for the similarities in their character but it still felt like two different women to me. Mkaleek, your tape is being made this week and might be mailed on Friday or next Monday at the latest.
Mkaleek 09-03-2003, 03:43 PM Thanks Again Claude!
SPLAIN 09-03-2003, 04:02 PM Your're perfectly welcome, but remember to keep posting, we need you on here.
Mkaleek 09-03-2003, 04:07 PM Sure thing
SPLAIN 09-03-2003, 04:16 PM I just meant that i've had some people dissapear the minute they got the free tape, it BURNS me up! From now on, i only promise it to the real, long term Lucy fans!
x1LucyFanx 09-03-2003, 06:33 PM What kind of tapes do you have Splain???

Ditto but I don't think she looks like Lucy.
onlyonelucy 09-03-2003, 10:12 PM I have seen both Diane and Suzanne in person and Suzanne definitely impersonates Lucy better. Diane and Suzanne are both sweethearts tough! Yall ever seen them without their makeup? Neither of them even resembles Lucy Ricardo without it. Diane is SUCH a cutie pie! She has told me in Jamestown that I should impersonate Lucy for I look so much like her. HA, I wish. Keith Thibodeaux told me the same thing. I was very flattered but don't agree, unfortunately :(

I am DYING to meet Diane!!! She seems really nice! Adrien was hilarious! Next year I am going to stay the whole dang weekend instead of just saturday night!!

You WILL get to Jamestown someday Claude! Come to her birthday festival in August! It's so much fun, and the cake is really yummy! I've never been to the May festival, only 2 August ones, but those seem like fun too. I would've loved to go to the I Love Lucy Masquerade Ball. That seemed like SO much fun. :) It was on my birthday though, so I was having a sleepover instead.

You already know what I think, but sadly, like you said, you don't see it.
:(
Your infectious smile and unique facial expressions are truly reminant of her and you know I don't very often pay compliments to others, but when I do, I honestly mean it.
SPLAIN 09-05-2003, 09:55 AM All right then, i will start working on my Percy Livermore outfit for the Masquerade ball right away! I already have the nose part!
Lodee 09-05-2003, 01:23 PM Oh my gosh, you look like Percy Livermore?omg:
Mkaleek 09-06-2003, 08:13 PM SOmetimes I wish I wasn't so young so i could get a chance just to shake hands or hug the Arnaz's. I'm 20, and I could've met Lucy when I was a kid, but even then that was a slim chance. Hell, even if I was alive in the 50's-80's there probably would have been a slim chance too! So whats even the use of espressing my feelings in the first place? I don't know.
SPLAIN 09-06-2003, 08:25 PM Hey, stop that, you can say whatever the heck you want, if we had to watch everything we said on these things, i would not have lasted two years myself. I also would have killed to one day meet her and so would lots of other people.
Mkaleek 09-07-2003, 12:31 AM How does the Lucy weekend thing work? Do you have to book your own hotel reservations and attend the events daily? Can anyone who's been there explain to me? Thanks.

Yes, you need to book your own hotel reservations, and I suggest making them early because it gets crowded, so they fill up quickly! A couple months before the festival, the events are posted on the website and tickets go on sale. You can buy ticktets to whichever events you like (I also suggest buying these in advance instead of at the door), and that's basically it. The museum is great, so is the giftshop, and one of my favorite events is the Lucytown Tour. It's a really fun weekend, and it's so nice to see how many other people come up for Lucy! :)
Mkaleek 09-07-2003, 06:37 PM Wow, well I'm definitely going up there next year. Thanks for the info Mag. Maybe I'll see you up there next year.
MagsLovesLucy 09-07-2003, 07:27 PM That would be really cool! And, you're welcome. :)
SPLAIN 09-07-2003, 08:57 PM When some of you went there, did you see if there's a monument for Lucy yet?
*ShortCake* 09-09-2003, 12:11 PM I am staying at the flippin holiday inn next year!! I stayed at the red roof inn i think last year! Thank goodness my brother goes to school in new york! That is such an easy way to con my parents into letting me go to Jamestown. I am so awesome at weedling that i scare myself.
SPLAIN 09-09-2003, 01:19 PM But, do they ever read your posts? LOL!

That's where we stayed this summer! I liked it. I wanna stay at the Holiday in next summer though, because it's right in town. ;) Well...Red Roof in is right near Jamestown, but I like Holiday Inn's.
LUCILLE BALL 09-09-2003, 06:11 PM We usually stay at the Holiday Inn. It is real convenient, you don't need to drive to get to the festival , like I always did when I stayed at Comfort Inn or Colony.

onlyonelucy 09-09-2003, 11:16 PM No Claudsky, NO headstone yet :( If you come to Jamestown this coming May I promise I will make it worth your while. I will take you to see things that are NOT on the town tour ;)
onlyonelucy 09-09-2003, 11:17 PM And by the way guys, go ahead and make your reservations at the Holiday Inn now if you want. I always make mine for May while I am there in August so I went ahead this past month and booked for May. It is SO convenient staying there! :D
Mkaleek 09-10-2003, 02:37 AM Wow ONE LOVE, thats personal!:D Yeah, I would love to meet some of you guys up there, especially since it would be my first time going up there. I would feel alone and lost. I'll need company, at least when I'm up there.
*ShortCake* 09-10-2003, 09:44 AM It is definatly a blast up there! And Claude, I hope you do get to go because it is so much fun. I am going to hopefully go to the ball next year if they are going to have it!!!.
SPLAIN 09-10-2003, 10:14 AM Well, it's still a bit far off for me, but ONE DAY i hope!

SPLAIN 09-10-2003, 01:00 PM I heard it was something simple, not huge or ostentacious, then again, that's what Lucy wanted. Something unassuming i mean!

There is like a little wooden cross on her grave. It's painted white and I believe it says "We Love Lucy", or something like that. There's some flowers on it too. I have a couple pictures of it.

Well im glad someone did something about it, i thought that the headstone was taking so long it was getting ridiculous!!!
ricardo/mertz 09-10-2003, 11:00 PM I've never seen a real Lucy impersonator.
But, I think Debra Messing from Will and Grace has Lucy like expressions at times. I think if they did her make up like Lucy Ricardo's they would look a lot alike.JMO
SPLAIN 09-11-2003, 03:52 PM She did a whole photo shoot dressed like Lucy in that giant instrument one time, she looked a lot like her! It ran in Entertainment Weekly. Ok, i say we all get together and chip in for a monument, what do you all say? Let's get Tom Watson to collect the money or something, maybe get all the fans together? The Ladies, not overseas, monument aid society!
onlyonelucy 09-11-2003, 05:24 PM Debra Messing is a big fan of Lucy's too. I don't think she looks like her but she's pretty good.
ricardo/mertz 09-11-2003, 07:22 PM I never saw that issue of Entertainment Weekly. I bet the pictures were great.

I agree. I live in NY so I know it was a rough winter and not great for putting a headstone in, but I think that they could have done at least a little SOMETHING by now. A lot of people were asking the tourguide about it, but I still don't think there's any definative answer as to when the headstone is coming. DeDe needs one too.
Mkaleek 09-12-2003, 03:00 AM I don't think so either. Lucy has such a distinct and detailed face, her daughter dosen't even look like her!
