View Full Version : Barney Miller actors on other shows
Lady T 08-14-2003, 08:34 PM I recently saw Noam Pitlik on the Bob Newhart Show as one of Bob's patients.
Then acouple of days ago I saw a real young, Ron Glass, without the mustache on an episode of All in the Family, called Everybody Tells the Truth:wave:
Does anyone else remember seeing the other actors or persons connected to the show on other programs.
I remember seeing Steve Landesberg on an episode of the Rockford Files and I have seen Ron Glass in a tons of shows, like Sanford and Son, Good Times, The Bob Newhart Show and an episode of Hawaii-Five-o that he filmed with Gregory Sierra back in 1973.
DetectiveGriffin 08-14-2003, 10:23 PM You can find all the guest appearances each individual star has made by checking their names at www.imdb.com
Several years ago, I was thrilled to see Max Gail on an ep of one of my favorite shows then, Quantum leap. He's been in tons of stuff,as most of them have. I caught Steve Landesburg on an ep of "Tracy Takes On " a few years ago, too.
dlemond 08-14-2003, 10:33 PM This past year I watched Ron Glass as a regular on FOX's "Firefly," which was unfortunately cancelled .

I am going to watch that.
Steve Landesberg has not aged at all, he looks exactly the same when he did when he appeared on Barney Miller;)
egregiousgirl 08-15-2003, 03:50 AM Ron Glass still looks amazing. There's this one episode of Firefly where his hair was all wild and crazy--it was so funny! I just wish he had had more to do on that show.
Not too long ago I saw an episode of Drew Carey's show that guest starred Max Gail and Adam West as a gay couple who decorated Drew's cabin or something like that. It wa fun seeing Max Gail after all these years.
Crimson and Clover 09-02-2003, 07:17 PM Hal Linden was on an episode of the Golden Girls " What a Difference a Date Makes" that I just saw.
Steve Landesberg was on the Golden Girls, he was Stan's pychiatrist.
Small Wonderian 09-15-2003, 01:10 PM Ron Glass guest starred on Family Matters as Buddy Goodrich who tried to punch Carl Winslow
Crimson and Clover 10-10-2003, 02:01 AM Well this wasnt a show but I saw Hal Linden on a commercial the other night for some book. It had something to do with your heart.

I've seen Gregory as Julio Fuentes on the early seasons of Sanford and Son, played Carlos the bartender in "The Towering Inferno", and he was on Growing Pains as a role that I forgot.

H. E. Pennypacker 01-07-2005, 08:09 AM Hal Linden was in an episode of Law & Order Criminal Intent last season.

treky 03-14-2005, 02:47 AM I remember seeing Max Gail in an episode of "Quantum Leap" about 13 or 14 years ago.
I remember once seeing Abe Vigoda on "The Rockford Files"
I remember seeing Gregory Sierra in some guest appearences on a lot of shows in the 70s, and as a regular on some comedy set in a hospital, right after he left B.M.
On the DVD of the movie "Blazing Saddles" (FUNNY movie-see it, if you haven't already! :) ) one of the extras is a pilot for a TV series that was made, based on the movie, and Steve Landesburg is in it.
He was also on "The Tonight show" a few times in the 70s.
Ron Glass was one of the stars of "The New Odd Couple" in the early 80s. He played Felix.
He was also the narrator for "African Americans in Television", a 4-part series that TV LAND made a couple years ago, for black history month. And, he was interviewed in one of the shows.

I thought Ron Glass was awesome as Felix on The New Odd Couple, it is a pity that show did not last more than one season due to a writer's strike back in 1982 and poor ratings.
treky 04-13-2005, 01:23 AM Jack Soo was on an episode of "MASH" once, in an episode called "To Market, To Market". And, YEARS ago, he was on an episode of "The Jack Benny show".
Ron Glass had a small role in a couple episodes of "Friends" as a lawyer.
James Gregory was also on "MASH" once.
megamanj2004 07-16-2005, 08:06 PM Does anyone have a recent pic of what Max Gail looks like nowadays?
Living In a '70's Dream 07-16-2005, 08:22 PM Does anyone have a recent pic of what Max Gail looks like nowadays?
Here is the lastest picture I could find of Max Gail
megamanj2004 07-17-2005, 01:16 PM Add gregory Sierra on guest appearances on Miami Vice and Hunter.
jenni8003 08-24-2005, 04:01 PM Hal Linden was on a second season episode of Gilmore Girls, The episode is entitled "There's the Rub". Hal plays a man that sort of picks up Emily at a bar that she and Lorelai are at. This was in 2002...he still looked pretty good, a little more white than gray in the hair, but still good.
catlover79 05-03-2007, 11:48 PM Yes, Ron Glass was in an episode of the Bob Newhart Show in the second season, "Fit, Fat and Forty-One" and he plays an elevator repairman.
Several other people mentioned Barney Miller's main director Noam Pitlik, who played Mr. Gianelli, one of the therapy group patients, in several BNS episodes. I know of two other patients of Dr. Hartley's who appeared as 12th Precinct prisoners: Jack Riley and Oliver Clark. They both appeared in BM's second season (not in the same episode, though).
Yes, Gregory Sierra was in most every show from the late '60s well into the '90s. Then he vanished from the screen. :(
I did see both Hal Linden and Linda Lavin in (separate) episodes of Law & Order: CI, and I also saw Ron Glass in several episodes of Amen.
catlover79 11-16-2007, 12:53 AM I would SO love to see Gregory Sierra's short lived series AES Hudson Street, which aired for about a month in the spring of 1978. Rosanna DeSoto co-starred - she was in several Barney Miller episodes and also played the mom in La Bamba. If anyone knows if the show is available anywhere - let me know!! :D
Zoneboy 11-16-2007, 01:03 AM James Gregory appeared in the first episode of The Twilight Zone, "Where Is Everybody?" and later in the 3rd season episode "The Passersby"
George Murdock actually got his start on TZ in the 3rd season episode "The Dummy" starring Cliff Robertson & Frank Sutton
Ron Glass appeared in the 1985 TZ episode "I of Newton" with Sherman Hemsley
catlover79 11-17-2007, 10:50 PM ^ Thanks for sharing that, Charles. I didn't know James Gregory and George Murdock were on TZ. I'll have to check those episodes out!! :D
