I was looking at the one of the photos over on the "corbis" website. One of the photos was of Lucy on the witness stand when she got her first divorce from Desi. The caption said that they divorced on October 18, 1944 and had separated on November 6th of the previous year. Were they really apart for nearly a whole year without seeing each other ? I had no idea it was that long.

Wow, I didn't know it was that long either. But, to quote Desi from his book he said:

"Sometime in the latter part of September 1944, I got a call at Birmingham from Lucy's lawyer, advising me that she was divorcing me. And in fact she went ahead and got an interlocutory decree in October of 1944."

And in Lucy's book too, I think she says she didn't decide to divorce him until 1944. They were separated as it was already because Desi was in the Army. I don't know...I really had no idea it was that long.

I think you're right, that it was just because he was in the army that they were considered seperated. I think they probably saw each other at least once in a while.;)

I always loved what happened when they had made love that morning and he asked her as Ricky would have asked that Ricardo woman, well, you're not going to go to court now are you, and she answered yes, of course i will, i bought a new suit and can't dissapoint the press!

And then she said, "Don't worry, I won't say too many nasty things about you."

What an awesome picture of Lucy! No wonder Desi couldn't stay away.

I KNOW, all the pics from that time period were awesome, especially relaxed at the ranch, in the one above she's formal and reserved, but when she was by the pool surrounded by Desi and the dogs in Chatsworth, mama mia, that's a one spicy meataball!
