Last night NICK showed the "A Stand-Up Kind Of Guy" episode...the one where Joe is asked to be Best Man for the wedding of an old high-school classmate who Joe doesn't remember.

This episode isn't one of my favorites (it wasn't the first time I watched it, and I didn't really like it any better this time around either).

It seems as if the weakest "Wings" episodes during the first couple of seasons are the ones where the story centers around an outside character who is not part of the regular "gang"....

The episode with Megan Mullaney as Cindy the "loose girl" was kind of weak too. (Although Megan can be hilarious in other roles, her "Cindy" was rather bland and dull).

As the series progressed, we eventually met other visiting "guest" characters who WERE funny and interesting....Carlton Blanchard, Sandy Cooper, etc....but it took the series a while to develop these wilder, more "over the top" visiting characters....When the show tried giving us "visitors" during its early seasons, the results were usually less than "classic"....Just my personal observation and opinion.

yeah, I agree. In the first couple of seasons, the guest characters are kind of boring, and those episodes aren't that interesting. I didn't really like those two episodes either.
But later on, the guest characters got more interesting, like Carlton, Sandy, etc.

I agree. I think the earlier guest characters are kinda borig.

Seems like some episodes do effect all of us the same way, because "There Once was a girl from Nantucket" and "A Stand up Kind of Guy" have always been considered weak episodes by me.

What are you guys talking about? "A Stand up Kind of Guy" was the greatest episode EVER!!!! ;)

Also interesting to note was Roy mentioning RJ who we later find out in season 7 he hasn't talked to since he came out 6 years earlier. Considering "There's Always Room for Cello" was filmed in the first season and ultimately shown in the second it would seem like this line was thrown in to make the future showing of "There's Always Room for Cello" fit in with the second season better even though it is obviously a season 1 ep. Am I making any sense here?

Really? I thought the Jerry Stark episode was really funny when I first saw it on Nick (I actually missed it this time around)...but I think the part that got me was when Lowell speaks fluent French...:lol:
