You end up getting a musical chairs thing going on. That can get really weird. In a small town the circle is small. Your former other half ends up being with a friend who is supposed to still be your friend. The same goes for yourself. You end up with your former girl friend's girl friend. It can get creepy.

Actually, it can be a pretty "small world" in a city as well.
I've seen a lot of "six degrees of separation" here in the Big Apple...

Exactly- I live in a pretty small town and just about everyone new you meet is somebody's friend, someone elses ex, somebodys brother-in-law, etc....
Plus everyone knows everyone elses business which can really strain relationships.

Also just because you're in a small town doesn't mean you'll have less opportunities to meet other people. At least where I am there are quite a few larger towns nearby and the city is less than an hour away- lots of people go there on the wkends.

I wouldn't know...I've never been in a serious relationship with anyone.

Same here, but I don't see where it would be much different anyway.
