The two part episode where James Evans dies. It was the first time in my memory where a main character from a sitcom dies. It was very moving.

The episode CLEATUS. That is when James is at his best. The way he tackled Cleatus when the lights went off.

My favorite "Good Times" episode would have to be the one and only "Black Jesus" episode. That was a funny episode. I especially liked it when Florida first saw the picture of Black Jesus a/k/a Ned the Wino, she said "Well, I hope the Space Lab is out of the way because I am about to go into ORBIT!!"

Not necessarily my favorite episode but my favorite scene is of course the "damn, damn, damn" moment after James' funeral. I watched that recently and it still packs an emotional punch after the hundreds of times I've seen it. The rent party episode is also one of my favorites. Michael doing "When You're Young and In Love" and Florida, Willona and Thelma doing the Supremes are priceless.

Why would a serious scene like Damm. damm, damm be one of your favorites?

Because it was a serious scene. After holding in the all that emotion, a sudden realization hit Florida and it affected her. When Esther Rolle gasps, clutches the kids and starts to break down, it made me feel she wasn't acting, it was real, and I'm impressed with her performance. It's a powerful, emotional scene and one I can watch over, and over and over again.
