View Full Version : Animal Cruelty Petition
webuster 08-09-2003, 06:13 AM I know many of you here have pets which you love- and some of you have lost your pets over the past year and have came here for emotional support. Well today I came across a petition about animal cruelty- and about a company which kills and preserves dead animals for high-school experimenting. Animals include Cats, Dogs and armadillos. The petition explains some ofthe gruesome details of the cruelty the animals suffer.
Please sign this petition and pass it on to all of your friends:

That is sick, I know in my high school they discessted cats, and frogs, I refused, that goes against all my principals, and my love for animals if I had, at least my teacher was decent and let me do all the paperwork, so that I got a good grade

Czas na Zywiec 08-09-2003, 03:15 PM In 7th grade, we dissected a fish, in 8th grade, a frog, and in 10th grade, a pig. I didn't see anything wrong in it. People eat fish, pork, beef, etc. everyday anyway. Hey, it's better than slicing up some human in class.

Agreed! I know many animals that are far more deserving of praise and respect than most humans I know! There should be greater penalties for crimes against amimals! ohno:

I second that, animals have feelings, some tend to forget that

Slicing up a frog and a human aren't the only two decisions- it isn't just two options- hey, I've got an idea- how about just slicing up nothing? There's not a gun put to your back and someone telling you 'slice up something now creep'. Besides I think there are some humans that deserve more to be chopped up- if the class is already so numbed of the thought of death by dissecting a fish why not just bring them down to the pathologists for a little biology lesson? And killing the animal for the purpose of dissection is wrong- it would be more acceptable if it had died of natural causes- yet it would still be very traumatic to some people (myself included) to have to carve up a dog or cat.

Well, I never said that slicing up cats and dogs were alright, I'm just saying I didn't have a problem with dissecting in grade school and high school. I didn't read what you linked, so I'm no saying that it's alright for them to torture and kills these animals just for the purpose of dissection. The point of my post was that I didn't have a problem with doing it.
webuster 08-09-2003, 04:39 PM Sorry if my post seemed threatening- it's just that the thread didn't seem clear to me on your oppinions of animal cruelty- and I get a little worked up over animal rights.

How did you get out of class? Just by leaving or what? Also- can they take marks of of your grades for not dissecting?
This all hapens in high schools right? Cos I'm starting one soon and hope I don't have to cut open and cats or pigs or anything- hopefully a few of my friends (we all care deeply about animal rights- some of us more than others) won't do it too if the time comes.

I know I refused to dissect anything in my biology class, my teacher was pretty nice about it, he let me do all the paperwork for my group, and was based on that. So I think that was fair of him to do.
IMO there should be alternatives to dissection, let there be options for students to do something in place of that.
