“The Golden Girls: LIVE!”

From 1985 to 1992, millions of Americans tuned in to catch the loveable antics of Dorothy, Blanche, Rose and Sophia. Now they’re back in their original Saturday night timeslot, only this time, live on stage! The 60-minute show is a loving tribute to our favorite mostly gray haired gals with an all male cast. The show features back-to-back episodes pulled from the scripts and flavor of the original sitcom (ALA the separately produced surprise hit tribute to the Brady Bunch).

The Golden Girls Live stars: Desmond Dutcher; Darren C. Polito; John Schaefer; and features Peter Mac (of “Making Porn, Judy and Me”) as Sophia Petrillo.

Run don’t walk, to what promises to be a smash hit. It already has the streets of the west village a buzz. By popular demand…The Golden Girls: LIVE! has even been extended!!!! The show will premiere on Saturday August 16th at 9PM then replay at 11PM. Additional dates include:

August 16, 23, and 30 AND September 6, 20, and 27

August 16, 30 AND September 6, 13, 20, and 27

There is a $12 cover charge, and 2-drink minimum. Upstairs at Rose’s Turn is located at 55 grove street, call 212-366-5438 (after 4:30 pm) for reservations.

This open ended run is just the beginning. These are the first two episodes in what will prove to be the new episodic cabaret experience. In fact rehearsals are already underway for additional episodes.

It sounds pretty funny though to watch...

Here is some updated info on the Golden Girls LIVE! I have been busy on the PR for the show as well as being in the show as Dorothy. The show is playing to sold-out audiences and we are in negotiations to move the show to a restaurant cabaret venue in Midtown. At present we do two episodes of the show pulled from the series. However, the show is currently being lengthened to add a 3rd episode and have more audience interactivity. The talented Mr. Peter Mac (and my boyfriend) (aka Charles Tolliver) is working towards this end as we speak. In addition we are looking at taking the show to a theater in West Hollywood for July and August of next year.

We found out this past week we have Lifetime's blessing. I have talked to Lifetime and they sent representatives this past week to see the show. they even want to know if we are interestedin performing at their Christmas party in NYC!

We now have the Gentleman who is writing the official Golden Girls book coming. Aptly titled "Thank You For Being A Friend". His name is Jim Colucci and he is going to write about us...Both for the book and for a feature article in a large gay magazine. He seems like a really great guy.
