do you think the show would survive?
I personally don't watch the show. Saw 2 episodes and didn't like it. But I've seen shows like "Access Hollywood" questioning if the show would survive without him.

To some extent yes, but I think after a few weeks the ratings would start dropping dramatically.

No, he makes the show worth watching, and he is the one who cuts the crap. If it wasn't for him, the people on the show wouldn't be talented. He eliminated the garbage from the beginning.

No, he's the star of the show! Without him it's just another typical reality show.

I admit it - I watch the show more because of Simon than because of the contestants. I do not think American Idol would survive without Simon Cowell.

I'd watch it since I dont watch the show for him at all. He can go eat a big fat cow.

I don't think it would last at all...maybe one season, then it would be over.

I would still watch to see Paula, too. But that's if the show was still on. I think they would cancel the show if Simon left. So yeah, I would definitely still watch it, even if Simon left, but I do not think it would "Survive"

I watch the show, but only the early episodes.
Basically-- for Simon. He's a very funny guy. He's so serious, and hilarious at the same time. After all the bad people leave, so do I. And I dont think AI would last without Simon, and he wouldnt last without AI.

I would never watch the show if Simon wasn't in it. I don't have to say why it wouldn't survive or why I wouldn't watch it. Several people in this thread have already done it for me. :)

You guys do realize that all the bad people are fake, right? Simon, Paula, and Randy do not see everyone audition. In fact everyone has to go through TWO sets of producers before they see the trio. The reason why these people think they're good is because they've already made it through 2 rounds of the auditions! The producers just let them through for the comedy aspect.

I watch the show to see the performances and always get 1 or 2 Im rooting for so I continue to watch it each week. But, IMO.. the should wouldnt last too long without him. Yah, you want an American Idol.. but as much as everyone hates him.. Simon makes the show. He cant be replaced.

That sounds pretty cruel

I think the show would still do fine without him. Most of his opinions didn't make much sense to me the second season. I also didn't like how he chose favorites with Ruben. He was really nice to Ruben and really mean to Clay. I hope he's not like that the third season. Another thing I didn't like about him was that he would be mean just for the sake of being mean. Like when he told Kimberly Locke on a scale from 1-10 her personality is a 4.5. And his drag queen comment to Trenyce.

the drag comment to trenyce was a lil too much. trenyce even spoke publicly about it... and how she felt

well after that performance, she was eliminated, and if ur eliminated u go out and do all these appearances and interviews... well almost all the interveiws haad something about her drag comment from Simon.

She said that he gives constructive critism, but he just pushed the limit that time, which got her upset. She also said stuff about a lot of America bases their comments on Simon, because they dont know what "pitch", "flat", or a "note" is... and that Simon should give comments on singing rather than other stuff.

And on TRL, I remember Trenyce and the host were throwing tomatoes at a fake Simon. lol

Yeah, now he's like Judge Judy. He's just being mean for the sake of being mean, not because he's really being honest. I hope he's not like that on AI3
