Hi lizziebeth-

Little Miss Panasoffkee was a young woman found in the marshes of Lake Panasoffkee, Florida, sometime in the 70s (if I recall correctly). Her body was badly decomposed, and police estimated that she had been dead about three weeks. There was a man's belt wrapped around her neck. She was first spotted by some boys trying to hitch a ride from the Panasoffkee overpass.

What made this case interesting to UM was that this was one of the first times that police used facial reconstruction in a homicide investigation. An artist was asked to recreate what the woman might have looked liked. She was in her early 20s, so they created three reconstructions: One showing how she might look if she was still alive, another of her around age 10, and a third around age 5. This young lady had had special surgery on one of her legs and showed signs that she had given birth to at least one baby in her life. But even after posting the young girl's face everywhere, nobody came forward to identify her. To this day nobody knows who she was or who killed her.

(If any of my recollection is incorrect, please correct me)
