View Full Version : What was your first soap Opera and what do you remember about it?
MikeyW 08-03-2003, 12:52 PM My first Soap Opera was Guiding Light. I began watching it in 1997 back in my old house. I still remember it well. Marcus was accusing Jesse of raping Michelle. And somehow that made me watch it from now now. I havent watched it lately, (mainly due to is't new schedule in the morning.)
I Dream of Jeannie 08-03-2003, 02:50 PM Days of our Lives, my mom has watched it ever since I was born. So, basically I've been watching it all my life, but my first memory from it is from 91.
i'm 37. DAYS was on all my life as a child. but my first memories are:
when mickey left laura
doug marrying addie
addie being killed as she saved hope.
Raven-Symone 08-03-2003, 04:00 PM my first soap that I stared to watch was All My Children, I stared to that in the summer of 95, I forget what was it about but I remember the year.
Sean Snow 08-03-2003, 08:59 PM The first soap opera I ever watched was a rerun of Dark Shadows. The episode was from around October 1967. Ever since then, I've been watching it and have also started to watch reruns of Ryan's Hope.
ClassicTV4Ever 08-03-2003, 10:16 PM My mom also watched DAYS all my life, but I started watching back in '91 or '92 with my mom while she was home on her lunch break in the summer and on vacations. Some of my earliest memories are:
Vivian burying Carly alive
John and Marlena getting down and dirty in the Titan conference room
John and Isabella's wedding, and then later Isabella's death (actually, I didn't really see that part, my mom just told me about it since I was in school)
Kimberly Brady's accident and multiple personalities
Parts of the Molly/Tanner saga
dandelion wine 08-03-2003, 10:22 PM My grandmother used to watch Ryan's Hope, so when I was a kid I'd sit there and watch with her.
My first real memories, though, are of watching General Hospital with her. I remember Luke and Laura (and their wedding), when Rick Springfield was Dr. Noah Drake and when Richard Simmons was a regular, among my many other memories. That was in 1980, and I've been a fan ever since.
Christopher 08-03-2003, 11:28 PM The first soap opera I ever watched was All My Children, about 15 years ago. It was very cool. I can't really remember the episode I watched at that time.
angel676 08-05-2003, 01:22 AM The first soap opera that I watched was The Young & The Restless. When I started watching it, the character Nina was involved with some man and he was crushed in trash compactor.
Sterling Holobyte 08-07-2003, 02:49 PM My first and only soap is The Young And The Restless. I tried some others but I just couldn't get into them for very long. When I first started watching, Terry Lester was still Jack Abbott. So I was disappointed at first when Peter Bergman took over the role. It seemed like when he started playing Jack Abbott he just used this loud voice all the time. But he's gotten better since then. Same thing when Jess Walton took over the Jill character.
I remember what Angel676 was talking about with Nina, too. And the guy who got crushed(I can't remember his name) had something burned on his forehead. He was a psycho!

I just found out the character's name who was crushed to death, David Kimble. And, the word "killer" was on his forehead, thanks to a plastic surgeon. I found this out at some website, don't remember the name of the website.
Sterling Holobyte, do you know any websites that have past storylines
about The Young & The Restless?
iloveTV 08-08-2003, 12:01 AM My first soaps were GH and Santa Barbara. I remember loving Cruz! I also used to watch Another World...I'm so glad that it's on rerun!

No, sorry. I wish I did though. In fact I wish I could get some of those old episodes on dvd.
The only other soap site I've been on was at SoapCity.com. Maybe you could check there.

I checked soapcity.com and they did have past storylines. Thanks!! While I was reading those past storylines, I remembered what storyline caught my eye when I first started watching The Young & The Restless, Sheila Carter. I still remember the cat fight between her and Lauren Fenmore in some labratory(sp). I don't know why, but I absolutely loved Sheila Carter, I still do. I loved watching her in both The Young & The Restless and The Bold & The Beautiful. She was so wicked and evil, I loved it!!!
I don't know why, but I've always been a sucker for villians, I love watching them in action. All this talk about the good old days of The Young & The Restless and awesome storylines has brought back some good memories. But now, I watch Days of Our Lives. There are two excellent villians I will always remember, 1) Sheila Carter (The Young & The Restless and The Bold & The Beautiful) and 2) Stefano DiMera (Days of Our Lives). Sorry, didn't mean to change the subject!!
TGirl 08-15-2003, 03:34 AM The first soap I remember is "The Edge of Night." It was about 25 years ago, so I don't remember much. There was an evil nurse (I think her last name was Bryson) and she was holding some woman with a bandaged-up face hostage. Her assistant was a hospital orderly named Sharkey who always chewed his gum like a cow.
Central Perk 08-20-2003, 06:39 PM The first soap I watched was Days Of Our Lives. I started watching with my Mom and sister during the Marlena's possesion storyline. After that storyline ended I stopped watching and I haven't really watched any soap opera's since then.
fieldysgrl 08-22-2003, 09:32 AM MY FIRST SOAP WAS ALL MY CHILDREN, BACK IN THE EARLY 90'S.
Mr. Television 08-22-2003, 11:19 AM The first soap I remember watching was Another World in the mid 1970's. I watched a few years then I got hooked on primetime soaps like Dallas, Knotts Landing, and Flamingo Road. In the mid 1980's I did start watching Guiding Light until the early 1990's. I don't watch any soap operas right now.
Tyler77 09-08-2003, 09:49 PM My first soap that I watched religiously was "World Turns" in 1987--around the time Lily found out she was adopted and refused to believe it. I remember Jessica was dating Duncan and his psycho ex-wife Beatriz was stalking them.
