View Full Version : Was Batman the Animated Series the best cartoon ever? SmokedOut 08-02-2003, 10:22 PM I feel sorry for todays kids progamming because they lack batman: TAS. is it just me that thinks that Batman was kick @$$ dark entertainment? B&W fan 08-04-2003, 12:41 AM No, it's not just you. Batman:TAS was an absolutely awesome cartoon series! Now, was it the best ever? I don't know about that. But there is no doubt that NOTHING has been made since Batman premiered that even comes close! In fact, I'll go a step further. There was no cartoon produced during the decade preceding Batman:TAS that came close to it either. The only cartoons that are worthy to be placed in the same category were all produced prior to the 1980's. B&W "Why that series ever stopped is beyond me" fan SmokedOut 08-04-2003, 12:50 AM It really was amazing and a great shame it ended. i saw a dvd collection recently and i think it would make a nice addition to my collection. ClassicComedyFan2 08-04-2003, 10:26 AM "Batman: TAS" is good, but certainly not the best cartoon ever. You have other immortal greats like "Pokemon," "Tokyo Pig," "Dexter's Laboratory," "Jackie Chan Adventures" and others that are even better cartoons! You forgot the smiley face or laughing face so we would know you were kidding. You are kidding, right? I realize the maxium, "to each his own", is a reality on these boards, but there is no way that the shows you mentioned measure up to Batman:TAS, IMHO. B&W "I stand by my original comment that nothing made in the decade prior to, or since, Batman:TAS, is as good as it is" fan SmokedOut 08-04-2003, 01:46 PM I'm sorry classic comedy but my jaw dropped when i read ur post. Pokemon??? Jacki Chan Adventures??? I dont know which B:TAS u were watching but cmon. Pokemon and Jackie (i havent seen the other two u mentioned) are pretty juvenile without much in the way of reality. while ur definitley entitled to ur opinion, i personally would rather endure red hot needles through my eyes than watching pokemon and jackie while isnt that bad still comes nowhere close to B:TAS. No offense intended, to each his own ClassicComedyFan2 08-04-2003, 04:15 PM Originally posted by SmokedOut ... are pretty juvenile without much in the way of reality... That's how I like my cartoons. Delightfully unrealistic and light-hearted with a sense of humor. Sitcomwriter 08-09-2003, 02:57 AM I don't really watch cartoons anymore.None of today's cartoons really interest me that much anyway.Iused to love Tiny Toons but back when I was growing up, Saturday mornings were all about Power Rangers, I know that it's not a cartoon but that was what I watched every saturday morning until my brother grew out of it.We watched Pokemon too for a while but, again, have since grown out of it.The only cartoons I usually find myself watching when I'm not babysitting my 2 year old are animated sitcoms such as Family Guy and Undergrads. W.J. Griffin 08-20-2003, 11:54 AM "Batman: The Animated Series" is, in my opinion, one of animation's highlights. Any show that can arouse emotions of terror and comedy, splashed with good, old-fashioned adventure is A-OK in my book!:) peabody 09-21-2003, 03:54 PM I loved Batman: TAS... It had that noir ambiance to it that appealed to my maturing taste in entertainment. Another series that appealed to me for the same reason (not to mention it helped bring Shakespear to life for me) was the Disney series: Gargoyles. I still watch cartoons, but I agree with others on the board...most of them today are very imature in nature. I think that's why I have been watching so many foreign imports. boechsner 09-23-2003, 01:40 AM Batman: the Animated Series is by far one of the best cartoons ever made. It was still good when the title was changed to The Adventures of Batman and Robin. However, when the new animating style took over after that (around 1996 or so) the show was not the same. Pokemon, Jackie Chan Adventures ...... You got to be kidding me!!! Sorry, there is no comparison. In my opinion the best cartoons ever are: 1. Batman: the Animated Series 2. The Real Ghostbusters 3. Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? moviedude25 09-23-2003, 05:41 PM Today I just started creating a DVD Set of this series and it's funny that now I see this post, lol! There is a DVD Set out there now but I like to do my own creations. This was a wonderful series, one thing I never understood about it was the order of airing the episodes the producers choose to do. For example, Season 1 Episode 1 was a two parter. But the second part wasn't shown until the 8th episode? And Robin was introduced in a later episode then the first one...And then they choose to rename the series after they switched airing it on the orginal network...this series had three titles to it....To me it adds to the mystique of the show! Anyway I was wondering if there was any intrest in this series being dubbed on tape? Or is this a common series most tape traders carry? Mikado 07-10-2005, 04:45 AM Well, Evangelion was the best cartoon ever, but, as far as adaptations of super hero comics go it rides far above the crowd! |
